50nl to the Nosebleeds. Time to get good.

I play 50nl Zoom on Pokerstars.
I am better than most regs, but need to learn so much and going to university next year so it would be cool to try and ladder up the stakes a bit.
I also have two horses who I stake and coach, started them at 2nl now they are both at 5nl, so hopefully can update on their progress too.

Goals for the summer;
  • Play 400k hands
  • Improve at poker through watching DC, sweats etc
  • Stop being results orientated
  • Finish Supernova
  • Hopefully win some $$$
  • Get a skype group of winning 50nl+ regs going
  • Get my two horses up to 25nl

I will post a lifetime graph when I get my old computer repaired, database is on there. Nothing special, but I'm up about 4k I think in the year I have played.

For this challenge my BR will start at 2k. I will post regular updates, and hopefully we can get some good hand discussion going.

Re: 50nl to the Nosebleeds. Time to get good.

Turns out making a PG+C thread= run good. So yeah basically been sun running so far today, just coolering regs and fish donating basically.
Also got pokertracker 4 which has helped a ton, because I found out the fold to 3bet stat on PT3 is actually not accurate. A lot of the people I used to 3bet turned out to have much lower fold to 3bets than PT3 was displaying, so yeah PT4 is helping a lot.

Been working too on not worrying so much on being balanced all the time, and just trying to exploit a lot more without worrying too much about being exploited myself, most 50nl regs aren't going to exploit me that much anyway.

Some spots which I was unsure about;

PokerStars - $0.50 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $56.67
Hero (SB): $83.91
BB: $53.20
UTG: $15.29
MP: $87.21
CO: $153.55

Hero posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has 4 4

fold, MP raises to $1.50, fold, BTN calls $1.50, Hero calls $1.25, fold

Flop: ($5.00, 3 players) A A 4
Hero checks, MP bets $2.50, BTN raises to $7.50,

Sooo obviously we have the nuts. BTN was 22/20/8 and MP was unknown. BTN was not spazzy, and I can see absolutely no way he can raise this flop without an ace.

Because we can't be drawn out on hardly and if we shove he should probably fold most aces I think calling is best, also can let MP in.

PokerStars - $0.50 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $50.00
SB: $24.50
BB: $71.00
UTG: $21.18
Hero (MP): $102.00
CO: $50.00

SB posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has 9 9

fold, Hero raises to $1.50, fold, BTN calls $1.50, fold, fold

Flop: ($3.75, 2 players) 4 9 K
Hero bets $2.50, BTN raises to $7.50, Hero calls $5.00

Okay so another hand, guy was an aggro reg over 200 hands, 28/24/9 (1/7) raise flop.

My default here would be call and x/shove over any decent sized turn bet on a non spade, not sure how correct that is though. If he was a bit more nitty I'd be happier 3betting the flop.

hand #1: 3b OTF obv, i know it may sound strange but calling it's even stronger than going over the top.

hand #2: it's pretty oppo dependant and you can do almost everything. I don't really like b/c cause may freeze the action or improve Villain's hand. You can b/3b/c or c/r/c, but b/c it's prolly the worst option for taking value.

Yeah probably agree with you on hand #1, only factor that makes me prefer calling is that MP can still have AK etc, and dont wanna give him a chance to get away. Think the EV difference of raising or calling with BTN is pretty slim, and maybe scaring MP off by raising makes the EV of calling higher.

On hand #2 I agree with you tho I think, don't really like x/r vs this particular villain but i should probably just 3bet.

PokerStars - $0.50 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $47.07
SB: $65.47
BB: $128.70
UTG: $25.48
MP: $52.50
Hero (CO): $68.59

SB posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has J K

fold, fold, Hero raises to $1.50, fold, fold, BB raises to $4.75, Hero calls $3.25

Flop: ($9.75, 2 players) T 6 Q
BB checks, Hero bets $5.50, BB calls $5.50

Turn: ($20.75, 2 players) K
BB bets $13.75, Hero calls $13.75

River: ($48.25, 2 players) 8
BB checks, Hero bets $44.59 and is all-in, fold

Hero wins $46.08

Interesting hand, guy was 17/15/8 and he had 3bet me before with K10 and K9. Otf it plays itself ott i was just like wadufuq, think it's probably a fold now.

Otr I'm not sure if it's better to 1/2 pot it because I rep a wider range or not?
And if you have Jhx on the river do you jam or whats your sizing?

I staked this guy for 10NL and it seems that he has now deleted me off Skype - presumably I will not be seeing my money ever again.

Be careful in your dealings with him.
