That sounds good, Alex. I'll give you a shout when I get online.

Grammen, I know how swingy they are and that you've been through a lot of variance but this is 2k games now. I really feel like I must have forgotten how to play. Anyone got any advice on this? How standard can this be? However variance-filled, I feel like I must have developed some huge leaks.

Re: 25k PROFIT IN 2012

Why dont u try to reduce volume and review hh alot more ? 2k games are a hell of amount. I know the feeling of "forgot how to play",in every swing keeps baging me. Its variance again. Even top players like chilin have that kinda thoughts. I will say it again.

poker its like that. You have a good run and you think : omg i got loads better, im gonna burn the games im a real pro !!!!! then downswings come and you think: i was a fish on a heater , i stopped thinking every litle hand i put auto pilot on and started being overly agresive blindly.

So i think its in our nature to be results oriented even thought we know its wrong and poker is all about swings

Re: 25k PROFIT IN 2012

Is 2k games really a large enough sample ? That's like a breakeven month for a full time grinder (poss even 2 weeks).

IMO, if the variance is getting to you playing these and you don't think you can play through it, take a day or 2 off, study, look at HH's, chat hands with peeps, then come back refreshed. I swear even when I have a mad grind week on top of my work, if it doesn't go great, I start to question myself.

Re: 25k PROFIT IN 2012

Yeah, it *is* a breakeven month. It's just a weird thing to go through. I mean, 100 buyin downswings are like water off a duck's back now but this is more substantial than that and I want to work my way out of it.

I might play today, I might not. Hoping Jared Tendler pops in here to give me a pep-talk after getting in touch on twitter (lolz), gonna review in wizz, post some hands etc.

Here's one for ya. Not overly complex but very marginal imo. First hand at final table.

Nah, been playing a ton of 2.5s. Am free to start mixing 8/3.5rs whenever I want but need a bit of confidence first. If I start now and go through a massive downswing at a slightly higher buyin then I think me and poker might come to an abrupt end!

yo btw, atm i only have a 700 roll, i needed some money so i had to withdraw like 500 but that wont happen again, may i ask you some advice? what roll would u consider " safe" to move to 8/3.5rs?.......... and btw i had downswings like you , iknow how it feels , you start thinking should i keep playing? is this all about luck?
But in the end i think winning players, always end up positive (even with hard downswings)
In my case i had a 200 buy in downswing ,but i recovered from that , ih ave to admit it was reaally hard .. but meh

sorry for my bad english , hope we can still talk

I'd probably start taking shots or mixing $8/$3.5rs at around $1500 but dropping down to exclusively the $2.5s again once you've hit around 1k and keeping $2.5s as your main game until you have around $2.5k and you're sure you're beating the games. I'd say it's probably better to take shots than mix them though until you get used to them as they seem to play a bit differently and I think you need to be more conscious of the regs. I'd play less tables and just concentrate on note-taking and getting all your decisions right until you are comfortable. This being said, moving up is different for everyone. My first day back at the 3/8s I dropped nearly $500 and was a bit of a state before final tabling 3 and finishing the day in profit. I had to have a word with myself afterwards about ABI. I mean, that's only 50 buyins. That's gonna happen on a daily basis. Np about your English. Thanks for dropping by.

Thankyou sir! Wrt bankroll, it's not really a concern as I have a really great backing deal with demetri1979 (who came 2nd in the Genting ME in Fox's, London last night for £7.5k - graaatz!) and as soon as I'm confident again I'll be bashing the higher buyins. Too true though, br management is so important. I'm a total nit and it's a massive leak. I had $3k in my account at one point on FTP and was playing the $3 90 mans. Then, on the opposite end, you have The Dozza - one of my best pals IRL - who once binked about $1k and immediately started playing $50 rebuys! There has to be a good balance. I think being sensible with aggressive shot-taking is optimal but I'm happy being backed and not worrying about it for now. Just gotta start beating the lol250aments first!

Right, about to load a session. Feeling good, had the day off, studied, about to have a big, f**k-off coffee and crush. GL all.

Odd hand. How would you guys play this? Villain who flats is 43/10ish over ~50 hands. Very spewy, fishy, passive. I'll give results afterwards.
