Whatsup 2p2,

I’m Riverdiver, 20y old Dutch student, lazy bastard and terrible poker player. In short, these are the things that gotta change.

I got into poker through my brother, grinding freerolls on PKR when we were both underaged, and I was hooked pretty quickly. When I turned 18 I got 50$ from PS with which I started to play 6max cashgames. By now, due to a combination of incredible lazyness and bad mentality, I’m still shooting nl25 zoom.

This thread will not only be about my poker goals, but also about some real life stuff, which is way more important to me. My bad mentality and laziness affect me in real life too, which is why I’m gonna work my butt of the coming months to change that. I hope this thread will motivate me to not give up on my goals so easily this time.

My poker goals for the first 6 months of 2015 are
Reaching nl100
Developing good playing and studying habits
Improving my mental game

My non-poker related goals for his period are

Starting productive habits
Improving my real life mentality
Get my bachelor’s degree
Recover from injuries, I’ve got foot surgery planned in januari, and I’ve also a knee injury which is super annoying and which nobody seems to be able to figure out
Pursue personal growth, this might seem a bit vague, but I really want to spend more time developing myself as a person during the coming months.

Savers for an amazing 2015 for everybody and some rungood too

GL everyone

So, I hope everyone had a good start of the year. Was hungover yesterday, so didn't play. Before I start playing in 2015, I want to share my hilarious 2014 graph with you.

This graph contains hands from nl2-25. Its the result of a few stupid habits. I tend to protect winnings and chase losses, both of which are pretty stupid. I also tend to take shots mostly when i'm tilted. I basically lost most of my winnings last year when I started playing nl25 after losing 20bi on nl10. This didn't end well, with me running terrible and playing like **** too.

Anyway, feel pretty confident that I can beat nl25 if I can keep my head together and play my best every session. I'm just gonna have to work on that.

GL and subbed. I'm trying a similar challenge and have many of the same issues (protect winnings, chase losses) and graphs that look very similar too. Great guns for extended periods followed by brief but disastrous crashes.

Yeah, its very dumb to do cause you play long sessions when you play bad and play short sessions when you're very sharp.

There's also some hands at nl50 in there, but that was a misclick

Graph of the day

Played ok, couple of hands that annoyed me but not much you can do. I feel like regs are a little bit more aggressive than at nl10, but there's still lots of people just donating money. Also, I think a lot of people are just terrible in general, so you just have to be less bad to make money.

Slightly annoying day today. There's just so many spots i'm not sure and yet I'm still not doing too bad. I don't like that I make so many snap decisions. I a lot of spots I check pretty quickly without really thinking about leading or cbetting or whatever. I also make many river decisions without really going through the hand and trying to figure it out. I very often just instafold or instacall depending on previous action and on what I think I should be calling in a certain spot.

Not too happy with this one. Pre is kinda meh, it plays well, but I'm dominated a lot I think. Not too sure about turn action, I have to fold if he only has boats there but I convinced myself he also could have QTs, in which case I haz moar outs.

Going back to uni on monday, which means I'll be playing on a different laptop, which means playing on a different laptop. Anyone know how to get all the hh's imported?

Also, how do get the 4 coloured deck in 2p2?

Really tilting session today. One of those sessions where I make a lot of medium strength hands and have to fold a lot of rivers and where I just can't win a decent pot. I also have the bad habit of busting every draw in big pots. Also screwed up a couple of hands

Bad luck mate. Stick with it. I've been feeling a bit the same.

Pretty hard to get away from the 66 there IMO but the 99 straight v the flush may have been one where you could have saved some money.

Won a little back today. Played ok. There's just some hands that really annoy me where villains have so little value combo's and make almost no sense.

Recovery is still going well, I'm not really affected by the meds anymore, so I started playing a little again today. The PT4 hud still didn't work at nl25 zoom so I played a small session of nl10 and broke even. I'm noticing that I get the feeling nl25 is my main game now, as I started to spew some at nl10.

I started the ultimate challenge today. I need 2000 VPP to clear a bonus of $62.50. Its not really much, and I've never gotten so many VPP's in a month, but I think it's some cool motivation to increase the volume. I've always had trouble to play a good volume when playing solid at my main game, but it should be really easy at nl25. If I keep doing good at nl25, I'll be rolled for nl50 already after that period, but I probably won't shot it just yet, as i'm still not really ready for it and want to beat nl25 for a more decent sample (still down lifetime lol).

Nl50 is a limit that I really look forward though. It's the first limit where I really expect to be able to make significantly more money than most of my peers who have a small job on the side, so it would kinda justify the time i've put in the game.

Issues with the HUD seem to be over. Played a session today. Decided to quit cause I was really tilted. Would've lost more if not for two last minute donations.

I feel like I run really, really bad in terms of cooler spots on Nl25. Lots of hands I just can't get away from or where you get 2 or 3 outed when most of the money is already in there. I feel like i'm on the wrong side these setups too often, and when I compare it to how I win my big hands, it not very often coolers rather than fish just throwing money in my face. Won't complain about the fish though. I also run a couple of hundred under EV, and I still suck at the pokerz too, so its not a wonder i'm not crushing nl25 yet.

Kind of an unsure spot, it starts with the MP minraise, btn looked kinda fishy, if he was fullstacked I can safely fold. Can't river a one outer for a chop obviously

Decided to play another session today, went terrible, dropped $75. Probably should've quit sooner, but whatever. I ran bad in a lot of different spots and I was really like wow at one point.

The problem isn't that I run bad during a session. The problem is that it happens again and again and I really start to doubt myself because of this. Its like everytime I win $100 over a couple of sessions I'll just lose it all back in no time in the next.

I don't want to turn this into a whining thread and I don't want to be one of those people who quit as soon as they start running bad, so I guess I'll keep playing. But I really, really need to improve, even though I feel like the player pool is pretty bad. I think i'm just really uncertain in a lot of spots and I'm pretty bad at adjusting.

Played again, ran bad again, lost again.

I'm really lacking a solid gameplan. I try to 3b and 4b light in spots, but I really lack a plan for exactly when and how and how to proceed afterwards. I felt like every time I get 3 or 4b and I was light and just had to fold or that when I make a call I'd just brick everything and flop no equity.

Another recurring situation in my session was that I couldn't get to showdown with my medium strength hands and had to fold time and time again. Then at one point, you just stop giving up, but you give up on a later street in an even bigger pot.

Right, so I played about 2k extra hands today, ended up about $15 and about $ in ev. Lost some ridiculous hands again, but also managed some suckouts myself.

It makes me realise I really gotta quit whining when I run bad, it makes my game a lot worse than it can be. Running bad isn't fun, but the only thing I can do is play my best, which is what I stop doing usually when I start getting unlucky.

I think I'm also way too focused on what I do wrong in big pots. There's so many small pots where I'm kinda unsure when I think a decision is close, that theres a lot of edge to gain by simply focusing on that. I also need to focus more on the rest of the players in the pot and their stacksizes. It happens often that I 3b bluff with a 80vpip whale in the blinds, or when I 3bet for value and I have to fold vs a 4b jam. I also need to take way more notes, because players can differ so much in how they play when they have similar preflop stats. These things are so simple, but I never actually bothered with doing it.

I got almost 400vpp in the last 2 days. Looks like the ultimate challenge is free money. I think I might try and go for goldstar this month, which would make the rakeback amount a little nicer.

Hand: I told you I can run good, flopping quads in a 5b pot
