Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
I played a medium length session today at Winstar....
Ended the session with +$113.00
So, my bankroll that is in my Texas Rangers hat is now at $1613.00
Another session to come.
These are a great exercise in discipline and game selection. I could have stayed longer, but the dynamics of the table was such that I had to either leave (the super nits had the money, and everyone else was short stacked..) or I had to find a new game. So I just packed up, took the profit and headed home.
I am trying to average about $100 a trip (profit).. after gas and a meal.
I feel like live poker is more in my 'wheel-house'. The online gig, the badbeats are crazy, too often, and it's too easy to play with other distractions, and I know my table mates don't have their HUD showing my every tendency. There are things in my arsenal I just don't want them to be able to look up on a chart.
So, as I make the climb up the stakes at Winstar, I think I have to say goodnight to the online cash games. I have a losing streak online that just doesn't make sense compared to my live results. So, I will play to my strenghts and right now, it's live poker.
Current Bankroll $1613.00
Thanks for reading.

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
My problem with live poker is the "old guys" that are always there when I play. I play once in a while up at Downstream, in Quapaw. There's several old guys who are there every time I go - everyone knows them. They are the nicest friendliest guys you could meet. They play a ton of hands and they always have monster stacks in front of them. I have yet to beat them at a hand.

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
I decided that once I hit my $5K challenge... (it's not a matter of if, but when)... I think I am going to put half of the profits into investing and start the challenge over again.
So today I am at $1600.00 and going to play another Winstar session this week with an update following the session.
I need to focus on taking small profits from the casino. I used to play poker until I was either broke or won about 5-6 buyins... too often I'd be broke.
So I am going to try and focus on small profits over a period of time (and NOT playing online cash games). I think it's pretty reasonable for me to sit down at a 1/2 table (buy in $200.00) and leave once I win between $100 and $150. This is reasonable especially given the way the 1/2 game plays. You can raise to $12 P/F and get 3 callers, and have everyone fold to a continuation bet.
So the $5K challenge continues.....

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
I drove out and played a short session today....
Pretty nitty table, lots of people folding on the flop to C bets unless they hit hard... then they were basically calling all the way to showdown with a better hand.
I played with same group of people for a few hours and had to fold on the turn a few times when I got raised when a terrible card hit.
I didn't hit my profit goal of $100.00... I was close. I had to give up a $34 pot when I got shoved on, on the river. I folded a set with a 4 flush on board.
So...
My $200 to $5K challenge stands at a total bankroll of
$1660.00 after Dec 2nd.
Will play another session on Saturday and post any results.
Profit for today was right at $60.00

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
you want them to fold to cbet, nothing better than raising preflop to like 12, getting 5 callers and them all folding

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
I played a shorter session than I wanted to yesterday.... but had a profit of about $130ish... so I took it, booked it, and left.
I wanted to stay awhile longer, but I also wanted to leave with a profit. and since I am still on a short bankroll for $1/2 I decided to just book the win and head home a winner.
I have been trying to play each session with a profit of about $100 or so, and then head home, with the idea that making money is the point, and as long as I'm doing that.... everything is going in the right direction.
I have been able to hit that profit bench mark fairly early in each session and without too much conflict (maybe because people do not know who I am and what I am trying to do...)
I am really considering bumping it up to $150 each session as the cash goal.... but not deciding on that just yet.
So another win.... $130ish...
I started with $200 and by playing $1/2 am trying to get to $5k @ winstar casino.
Total bankroll $1730.00
Will play another session up there in a few days with an update.

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
Not busto.
Just haven't been blogging about it.
Current bankroll is $8238.00
Playing 2/5 is stressfull especially when you are close to your goal of 10k

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
2/5 at 5k is borderline agressive, but 5/10 at 10k is insane as games play alot bigger (in most places)

Re: $200 to $5k at Winstar Casino (live)
Lets add $950 from a session this evening at Winstar
$8238 + $950 = current bankroll
This bankroll challenge is a recreational bankroll, not a bankroll that needs to sustain my life. My bankroll rules can be anything I want them to be because poker does not fund my lifestyle.

Just stopped blogging about it. Wasn't sure anyone was following. Maybe a few are?
I may go today or tomorrow. Anyone else going to be there?
