I've always wanted to start a thread in this forum, and I've finally doing it. I've got $1500 and I want to get back into poker, but being from the US, I feel like it would be tough to do so by playing solely on merge. What I'm going to attempt to do is turn the $1,500 to $25,000 by staking SnG players on stars within the next 9 months.

Most of the profits for the first few months will be reinvested, if not all of them. I also have an income which I will invest if/when I see need fit.

To start off, I'm going to stick to 6/9/18 man SnGs. These are going to cause the least amount of variance in my mind and will hopefully help expand my funds. The ultimate goal is to expand into MTTs when the roll has more stability.


I will atleast at first attempt to do all transfers through paypal. I'm not 100% how this will play out, but that's the plan.

added a 8/3.30R 180 man grinder. probably will stick to these two for the first couple weeks just to get back into the groove of things. Will snatch up a player, though, if the right situation presents itself.

Be very carefully with your bankroll mangement, a 3r grinder is looking at an abi of almost 12 a game. Staking is a lot of hard work but who knows what one can do in a year with it. Best of luck.

The main reason I am limiting it to just these two right now is what you pointed out. As stated before, I have other income streams, so I can reinvest other money if my horses go on a big downswing. Obviously, 1500 really isn't enough to stake a 3R grinder, so I guess technically my starting roll is not 1500.

I've staked players before, and it's profitable if done right...but like you said, a ton of work.

Only ended up shipping $70 to the one horse. $300 to the other. Tomorrow starts their first real grinds.

going to probably add a few small notes on my own play. Got a backer today for MTTs up to 33 on black chip plus bigger Sunday/midweek tourneys, as well as all tournies on true poker. Excited to see where this leads. The plan is to dump atleast 50% of anything I make playing back into staking so I can expand my player base as quickly as possible. Should start playing this weekend.

today ended well. My 180 horse took 3 top 3s as well as some other cashes. He's up to 975 in his account, which I'm ecstatic about. It's good to start off so well.
