Lol yea, its pretty ridic, but whatever. I'm enjoying Mexico so far and I think if I have a successful 2012 and also no problems ever at the border, I might stay here longer than 1 year.

Lol its a bit of a problem, even if I don't know how to say a sentence, I can pick out important words I remember and say them, and they usually understand what I'm trying to say.

Okay so yesterday was a pretty stressful day for me. I started off going to Santander bank, hoping to open a checking account. First of all, the teller doesn't speak any English, but that's np's as I remember how to say "I need to open a checking account", so that was easy to do. So I get to the banker, and he does speak English which is great, but he can't open the account for me as I don't have something proving my address (the lease wouldn't work). So he tells me to go to Telnor and get a landline/contract. I get to Telnor, nobody speaks english there, and I end up not really knowing what's going on, but I figured out what the basic package was and I just straight buy a landline without asking my realtor or the landlord (haven't met landlord, out of town for another 1+ week). So....I have a landline being installed on Nov 9th at the condo .

After getting this contract, I then head back over to Santander, and am this time able to open the checking account, but the banker this time speaks no English at all which made it tough, but I got through it. Headed out to eat at Applebee's with my roommate which was awesome, and then we went over to Tower 1 so another 2p2er could scan all my information so I could send it in to Pokerstars. Sent all the info last night, haven't heard anything back yet, but maybe I'll run good and get set up this week...but I completely doubt it, something seems to go wrong for everyone.

Then so far today, myself and my roommate made a fairly successful trip to the grocery store and I picked up a cellphone at Telcell. I really don't need a phone for anything besides calling cabs in advance...where we live is so ****ing far away from town that it takes forever to find a cab while we're standing basically on the side of the highway right outside the gates of our resort. So hopefully this will make it easier .

Played a bit of poker yesterday, planning on some big volume today though, here's a total graph so far for the month, all games played in Mexico obv.



Gonna get on the grind now, hopefully to get in some decent volume, gl on the tables to everyone.

Are you using telnor for internet? Not really a big fan of them...I like multicable alot better.

Yea Telnor is what this place had set up in it, gonna upgrade it tomorrow I hope. It's not that bad, like I was still 26 tabling supers tonight, it just sometimes lags really bad for a minute or two which is annoying.

Just got off the phone with stars a couple mins ago . Super super quick so far, if my docs are accepted by the "manager" I might be on by early next week. The standard wait time seems to be 9-10 days for most people, so I seem to be running pretty well right now, but I also made sure all my documents were perfect when I sent them in and I made sure to explain each of them in depth; was a pretty tl;dr email but I think it was very +EV. Hopefully the manager accepts it and I dont have to send/resend any docs and am back online by Monday or Tuesday, that'd be really sick.

Okay so didn't play this afternoon since net was laggy as **** and our landlords came to meet us, plus the blackhawks were actually on TV tonight out here! Ended up playing a bit after though and ran under EV, but made $'s pre RB which is always nice. Gonna try to get in a decent bit of volume tomorrow, hopefully 400+ games imo.

Hey jdawg, been a big lurker in this thread (and the last), very inspirational. I'm curious, did you have any problems getting the house as a poker player, i.e. no paychecks to show them to prove you have money for rent?

I'm also curious about your visa situation. Do you have a holiday/work visa?

Thx man, and nah, we went through a realtor and we kinda had to "prove" income to him beforehand, I could see if you were just going through owners that it might be tougher, but we didn't have any problems at all.

I do not have a work visa or anything down here, most people do not as they don't even really check anything at the border; we didn't get stopped at all. I will be looking at getting an FM-2 though which is basically a visa/ID for Mexico, it should be really +ev to have if I plan to stay for a long while (6+ months)

Gonna hopefully get in some decent volume today, but have to go down to the office with the roommate and try to get our internet upgraded and then we're going to go take a walk and hopefully take some pics. If they upload quick enough, maybe will have some pics ITT later today, but don't count on it!
