Goal:
To have a $10,000 bankroll by the end of the year, and having taken out ~$3000-$5000 for school.
Why?
Well because I can be an idiot with money sometimes, and if I'm following my the rules I set out for myself I should have a stable bankroll, and enough spending money for school in the Fall.
Backstory:
Story incoming.
I've been playing poker now for about 4 years, and have had moderate success for a recreational player, but it always seemed like I was always losing money instead of winning it. To this date I have only cashed out once and that was after a stupid mistake by my part, which I will tell you about now. So, one day I was browsing forums, saw someone 24 - tabling cash games on Stars, and I was like, "I can do that, that looks easy." At this point I don't think I cared about BRM enough to see the variance in 24 - tabling cash games with 50 BIs, but what do I care? I'm on a hot streak after winning a hyper turbo HU tournament for 1k. So, I decide to play 50NL FR and what do you know I don't get train wrecked. Boy, I must be good at this game. WRONG! A few weeks after grinding (mind you, this all happened almost exactly a year ago this month) I decide I'm good enough for 100NL. So I continue to ride my little bankroll up to roughly $3000. Yes, I was 24-tabling 100NL with ~$2500 the first chance I got. I should tell you also I was playing 50 and 100NL HU at the same time and was running well there as well. Until the fateful night I decide to play 4 - tables 100NL HU and ran like a 1 legged gazel. At this point I said **** it and withdrew nearly all my roll and left $250 on my account to play with and took a break from poker for the summer. So when I come back to poker, I feel like I don't want to play cash, but I do it anyways, I start losing, so I switch to SNGs, bink a little $2 180 man, and go back to cash games, and this goes back and forth for awhile. Eventually I decide with my $400 BR that 100NL CAP games are my new calling, and somehow manage to godmode variance and run it up to $1400 in about a week. Of course, doomswitch hits, and I'm back down to $350, and this is where we were until the 21st. When I finally chose my game, and I will stick to them.
tl;dr - Mediocre player runs BR up to $3k, busts it playing HU, withdraws, can't find game, finds game, boomswitch, doomswitch, sticks with new game MTT & SNGs
Bankroll Management:
In this past I like to take a lot of shots, (for example Sunday Million/Warmup) and I will stop doing that now unless I have the proper BR.
So when I started this I had $350 (tree fiddy, ha ha) and was playing:
$1.50 / 45 mans
$3.50 / 45 mans
$2.50 / 180 mans
The next phase of the BRM begins when I reach $1400 and I will add in some
$7.00 / 45 mans
$8.00 / 180 mans
I'll also be playing MTTs, mostly turbos but won't start until I have $1250 or so, and then only up to $5.
So far I'm off to a good start, have only played ~140 sngs, but I'm working part time at the moment so can't get that much volume in. I'm hoping to get ~100 a day when I'm not working and ~25-30 when I am. I can't complain about the results so far, have binked 2 $2.50's but we'll see when I get an actual sample size under my belt. I'll update again when I finish my session when I get off work tomorrow. I'll also be posting interesting hands, and looking for help/advice.
Here's one of my favorite songs to listen to.
Peace.
Finished my first actual day with my challenge thread, and it went okay. Things could have gone a lot better or a lot worse so I'm glad to see a profit today. I think after each day I'm going to post 2-3 hands focusing mainly on either ICM or Bubble Play as I find those to be the most important things when you're in/near the money (duh right?)
Is this always without question a raise/fold scenario given our bbs and SBs short stack or should it be a fold. After BBs raise I see no reason to call it off with 3rd and 4th being a $16 dollar difference. If someone wants to go into more detail about the situation that'd be awesome.
Villian in this hand is a big donk and have seen him limp/call with hands a lot worse than QJ (ex. 93s UTG with ~20 left)and figured if I wanted to make a run for first this was the time to do it. I could also probably nit it up more or find a better spot considering there are 2 shorties.
Played 32 games this morning. $53.97 profit. Could have been more but I think I made a poor spazz HU trying to get it over quickly when I had the CL in 180 man. Was only the 2nd hand.
First of all I wish you good luck with your challenge. Secondly, could you please send me some guide on how to post hands with such a nice re-player? It would be very helpful as I'm about to post a challenge thread here too.

Hey WinningTrips it's actually built directly into 2+2, you just need to grab your hand history from PT4/HEM and when you make a comment you go to advanced reply (I think that's what it's called) and it's at the top right above all bold, italicize, and justification stuff.
Anyways just finished a my 2nd session of the day only 25 games or so but got a first and second in the 180 - mans, I'll do a final day wrap up when I finish my last session in the evening.
Had a really good day today, was running really well near final table bubbles/final tables. I've also completely dropped out $1.50s and have started to add the $7 45-mans in my last session, I don't see a big difference between them overall. Also been meaning to get a sharkscope subscription but that will have to wait for another day.
ICM Hand
This hand was on the money bubble of a 45-man and was curious what people have to say about this hand. Steal % of 49 over 256 total hands and 23/19/9.6

Like I said I've been running extremely hot deep in the 180 mans right now and it's nearly tripled my BR so far in 3 days, lets see how long that'll last! I might play a few more games tonight or play some hyper fpp satties for $t. Work tomorrow will only get a few games in.

Ending Bankroll: $903.98

Subscribing to this thread. Please keep updating on your winning and losing days. It will keep it interesting. If you can honestly build it up to 10k I'll be impressed. Consider a webcam and/or posting some of your hi's and low's on YouTube. If done right it could be a hit.
Keep up the good work. More stuff the better - Screenshots, Hand History, Videos.

Could be a really good thread.
Thanks, I may consider doing videos and stuff when I go to Uni in the fall.
I just got home from work and registered for the Main even of the MicroMillions, and here is my first hand.
I'll be playing the $5 turbo and some other $2 turbos and knockouts. Haven't decided yet if I want to play the $1 Hyper Rebuys. Gonna be mixing in some 2's and 45 mans as well, good luck everyone,
Had a pretty solid day today, could have been a bit better (went 0/2 HU in 180 mans) and I really wish I could have gone farther in the Main Event but yeah, didn't run too well after the first hand. I still need to buy SNGWiz or find a program that can help me train my ICM and Pushing because I'm getting down to >8 BBs I feel too often.

In other news I've been re-reading chilin_dude's old thread about going from $300 - to $100,000 profit in one year, that thread was some of my motivation to start grinding the 180's and 45's and he offers a lot of insight into them.
They're both extremely good reads. Anyways I'm just importing my HM2 hands to HM1 so I can post graphs because the reports and stuff just confuse me on HM2. Will edit and post total graph for the challenge when it's done,
