I can clarify no problem at all. I was drunk when I asked the question.

haha np

i think it's very true though that 'money doesn't buy happiness, but being broke sure does cause misery.' i've been on both sides of it...in a pretty good financial position now, and $20 to my name 5 years ago. if you try to acquire happiness through wealth or material possessions, its just not happening. happiness for me comes from non-material things like my health, my family, my friends.

that said, being broke ****ing sucks and i was pretty damn unhappy when i was in school full time, working at a video store 20 hours a week, working at the school library 10 hours a week, and living at my parents house. lol.

2nd 5.5k of the year = win!

I sat the infamous, Isildur1 in 5.5k about 30 mins ago and shippppped the monies. He was 6 tabling vs 3 or 4 other regs, so I decided to play a game. He doesn't know me or what I'm capable of, and I usually find I do very well vs great players the first few games bc of that. Also, he's 6 tabling vs 4 great players, so I'm pretty sure his focus sucks and he won't be anywhere near his A game. Also, I know for a fact his <25 bb play is really bad.

No real interesting hands. Just a ton of all ins. He 3b shoved into my 44 24bb deep in 25/50 with QTo and I held (his 3b shove is vbad). I had him down to 60 chips in 25/50, he won every all in the next 5 mins and got back up to 1800 chips. I ended up winning 2 all ins A9>T7s and AK>89s to ship it.

I definitely saw some major leaks in his husng play, but I decided to decline since I was wayyy too emotionally involved in the match and I knew it would effect my play in the next game.

VPPs for the month: 12,678 (on pace basically)

good luck

Hokie

shoulda kept playing him imo, if hes 6 tabling ur gonna have a very solid edge on him and the fact that his game is weak when stacks get shallow should make this a snap accept rematch! I mean hes a great player an all but this seems like a good opportunity to test out the 5K's.

I took a 10 min break and got my emotions back in check after the first crazy win. I sat him again and finished up 3-1 on him. He declined bc he was going to sleep.

I ran pretty good vs him and made a few great plays and a few awful plays. His <25 bb play is truly horrible. His deeper play is obv difficult to deal with. I'm sure I'll play him some more in the future.

VPPs: about 15k for the month

what kind of win rate do you think is sustainable against him if his late game stays the same level?

he's a smart player, is it reasonable to assume that his shallow game won't evolve?

not trying to troll or anything, but more elaborating on the question already posed: what kind of edge would be required to continue sitting him while knowing that his shallow play is only going to get better?

hope that made sense.

Hokie's smart too and he can adjust to Isildur's deep game.

If they continue battling I think they will both improve, the question is if Isildur has any interest in HUSNGs, he seems to prefer cash games, so maybe he won't put in a lot of work into them.

I definitely did not mean to imply Greg isn't a solid player, I hope that it did not come off as such.

interesting question guys. i don't mean to imply that i think i have some huge edge on isildur in husngs. i do think i have an edge on him when he is 6 tabling 4 different people though. his endgame is extremely weak, and i don't think his deepstack strengths can make up for such big leaks. he is obv an incredibly smart player and if he cares enough to work on his husng game i'm sure he would get to a point where i prob wouldnt want to play him.

even though i'm staked, i still have to play 5.5ks to play him. i'm only going to play when i feel at my absolute best and when he has a lot of games going on. i def am not trying to push extremely thin edges at that high of stakes.

if i'm confident that my edge is big enough to beat rake i would play anyone. i'm very confident of that when he has a lot of tables up vs diff people. our last game the other night was his last game of the day, so all his focus was on me and he seemed a lot more creative/thinking. he autopilots and spitecalls allins to gamble when he has a ton of tables up.

Iftarii is a gent. Keeps folding because his opponent is disconnected. Most players would blind the other guy out.

Good player too.

You agree Hokie?

agree 100% and i do my best to avoid him. i'm pretty sure he would sit me in 2k/5k. i haven't quite reached the top of the mountain yet...still get sat by trader/livb/iftarii/skaiwalkur types. one day.

who is iftarii playing? if it's someone he plays regularly i can understand waiting for them, but if it's a total random i think waiting for them is pretty stupid. a random player 99.9% of the time would not wait for you. i've blinded unknowns out for full buyins before, but then blinded out regs and sent the full buyin back. i think that's the standard approach of most regs.

i dont know for you, but in my mind i would rather give back to the fish or lower limit guy who misclicked than to a reg who's out to own me out of my monies

This implies you don't think the fish are trying to take his money too.
