VPPs: 61,656

Should def finish 70-75ish for the month. I've been playing higher a lot more the past few days (330-2.2k mostly). When I start feeling a little off/tired, I drop down and play more 200-330. I feel like I've got a pretty good system going at the moment...wouldn't change anything really. I feel I've been playing pretty well...it's just so important that I keep up with studying frequently. It's easy to get lost in the grind and forget to focus on making the best decisions possible, instead of just chasing vpps constantly. If I work hard on my game I'll be able to play 500+ regularly (bc I'll be on my A game more often), then the VPPs will work themselves out - it's amazing how fast vpp's add up at 1k+. Pistons/Micide/Heybude are all 180k+ for the year already...I think Heybude is closer to 300k...unreal.

micide & pistons will be around 200k as they have both raked 36k already this year. Awesome.

Heybude stats are disabled.

I used to be under-confident in my game, so it really hasn't been an issue for me. When I worked with Jared a few months back, confidence issues were a big part of what we discussed. I can definitely relate to the opposite issues of over-confidence though...things like: giving myself too hard of a time when I'm simply running bad, holding my game (and mental game) to an unrealistic standard, etc. Basically the exact opposite of Winner's Tilt. I had Perfectionist's Tilt, I guess you could call it.

Now I am a lot more understanding of myself and hold myself to a realistic standard. I can't make perfect decisions every hand I play, or never tilt, but I can learn from my mistakes and understand what triggered my tilt and do better in the future.

While overconfident players play in games that they can't beat over the long term, an underconfident player like myself would play in games that are too easy and not push myself to higher levels.

Jared has a ton of great stuff on his website http://jaredtendlerpoker.com/, esp his blog. He has a Mental Game book coming out soon..expected release date April 12, 2011.

Hope this answered your question.

January Final VPP Total: 66,366

In the past, I'd give myself a hard time for not reaching my goal of 75-83kish. I learned a ton of lessons about putting in high volume and worked on my game a ton, I think these lessons will be invaluable in getting me to 1 mil vpps for the year. There is a big difference between working hard and working smart. I can't just grind out endless vpps and let my game go to **** while doing it. I want to make SNE, but also I want to be one of the best husng players eventually. I feel that I worked very smart this month aside from a few days where my focus got misdirected. I've moved up in stakes and the vpps will accumulate much faster now as well. I definitely feel like things are going in the right direction.

February Goals:

83k VPP (not going to try to get caught up to pace during a 28 day month)

3-4 Study sessions with H2olga/MJW/or Helio TYF

Play 90% of my games at 330+

Post more hands itt

Organize the monies for the tax rape in April (wooot)

January Graph (graphs will be more representative of actual results in following months):

First 5.5k of the year. Saw stars pro LeoFernandez sitting and obv insta-sat (never heard of him).

Some highlight hands:

He had been cbetting 100%. Really didn't think he would check back a good hand with the dynamic we had, since I should be skeptical of his cbets. He didn't seem tricky enough to try to level me.

Polarizing river vbet size to value hands that will vomit if I shove. I can rep backdoor hands really well. This play has to work a high % of the time, but I think it does vs most people especially when he doesn't know how capable I am of this. Calling my jam here with even a set is a herocall readless.

Then I lost the endgame hands after getting a 2:1 lead. A6<AA, then my A7>77 to get back up, then 89s<A3, T9s<QQ.

gg.

really happy with how focused i am in 2k/5k now. granted I'm on a stake, so the $ swings dont effect me nearlya s much as if it were on my own $. regardless of whose money Im playing with, there is just something different about playing 5ks. its the buyin level that from my days at the 6s to the 330s i just couldn't even comprehend playing for that amount of money. its a pretty cool experience to play games at the highest husng level, when i started my career <4 years ago with $40 borrowed from my dad at the $6s. it doesn't make me nervous per say, but it does make me appreciate where I came from - and I think that is very important.

Nice endgame hands, AA, QQ, 77, A3. rigged.
Btw, second hand, if he bets more on river, something near potsize, does this change anything?

yup, changes it entirely. a 40-50%ish river lead from most thinking (but not great) players is heavily weighted to marginal value. 60%+ will be a lot more weighted to strong value/air. i almost never see thinking players lead this river with hands that would be comfortable calling a jam here.

potsize leads from thinking players will be a lot more weighted to strong value/complete air.

1ks and 2ks. setups and runbad finished off my month at the higher stakes. im fully staked 500+, and i get 50% of my profits there. i lost money at 500+ last month, and am basically breakeven for the stake overall through 460 games (3000 game stake). i have 100% of myself <500, so that's where the majority of my profit came from last month other than rakeback.

i'm not sure i understand your question. clarify plz.

i think a lot of poker players have nothing going on in their life at all other than poker, so their happiness is often defined by their variance.
