flu before you begin the grind is prob better than mid-grind. don't want to get a solid pace going only to have it interrupted, you're probably chomping at the bit to get at the tables and your volume will reflect that.

best of luck.

i played a few 220s past 2 days just to try to knock the rust off...been over a week since i played.

good luck.

Hey you might want to check out this book. http://fourhourbody.com/ Goes along with what you are doing now and might have a few things that you would want to add.

it was a short trip, 6 hours each way and i don't think we were gone for more than 48 hours lol. we just drove, talked poker the whole way, sleep, 15 hour live session, sleep, then back home.

i've never been too into live poker bc of how slow it is, but we were reminiscing about old homegame stories and really got the urge to play live. there is nothing like stacking a donk and being able to see the look of pure pain on his face lol. our goal for the trip was basically to pick out the person at our table that is clearly playing w his rent money and to busto him (it's always so ****ing obv who this guy is after a few hours at the table lol). needless to say, we found him and he lost a lot.

i think we finished up maybe 600 each on the trip chopping 50/50 mostly playing 1/2. i'd usually play higher but wanted to play at same table as my friend.

so ya nothing too exciting. most of my AC trips involve at least one night where i end up playing high stakes drunken roulette...maybe next time, haha.

Are you adjusting your drinking schedule any with your SNE chase? Cutting down on going out, going out different nights? Whats your take on alcohol and nights out and the limitation on being able to play optimal hours / enough hours?

i've definitely cut back on going out for poker. i see it as making sacrifices for my long term. i don't really miss the bar scene much, but i do wish i had more time just purely to go out, make new friends, and be social. my dedication to poker has def made it hard to maintain some of the higher maintenance friendships and what not, but i think it's for the best in the long term. when i'm in my early 30s and i have the financial freedom to do whatever i want whenever i want, i think it will prove to have been worth it.

i'm sure there are some poker players out there who can balance a super-active social life and a really baller successful grind, but i think for most of us we have to choose to make sacrifices one way or the other. money is not just given to us, we have to create it.

Nice response. (Seems like you read Rich Dad, Poor Dad - have to create money =0). But, yeah I really think SNE has some awesome advantages in the sense that you not only benefit this year, but stand to gain a ton the following year through all the fpps you acquire.

It can be tough to keep balance for any poker player and poker allows you to have your own schedule and own way of doing things. Balance is just another choice you have to make, and it seems like you have a good grip on things.

Wish you the best this year.

Pretty tired. Will update in more detail tomorrow. Running really good so far this month in the few games I've played. Probably up 5k or so before rakeback.

VPPs: 7,403 (SNE pace 16,025 -- 5 scheduled off days for month)

Sucks to be behind to start, but that's life I guess - **** happens. Still haven't completely gotten over the flu yet. I tried getting in a lift today w trainer and that was pretty much a huge fail. Energy was just a mess - going to give my body a few more days before lifting for real, maybe get in some cardio. It's so tilting how much getting really sick effects my strength and cardio.

I'm really enjoying playing poker though. It's pretty cool to be able to do something for a living that I really love. I've felt that I haven't been adapting to my opponents very well yet this year - probably a bit rusty from the 10 day break. Prob a good idea to cut down on my tables at the beginning of my session tomorrow and get my poker mind working well again.

I bought this new desk chair the other day too. Very comfortable. Has remote-controlled massage **** in the back. It's on sale at Office Max right now for $220. Not bad imo. It's so hard for me to not buy **** when my mind is screaming at me "it's just a ****ing buyin man!"

Good luck.

How can you sleep at night?

It IS possible to play poker and grow spiritually, but not with your attitude.

I think he means you're going to hell because you took some guys rent money at the poker table.

On the plus side, I imagine the card games in hell are great.

At least that's what I gleaned from his overly dramatic two sentence post.

WHat is the meaning of life?

HH the dalai lama said that it is to help others. If you can't, then don't hurt them.

No offense - just something I dtruggle with sometimes being a poker player and trying to keep my integrity and human values.

So your strategy in poker is to lose as much money as possible to the opposing players?

No, you just help other people to be better humans when they lose their money to you.

Hokie helped them by teaching them the lesson that they shouldn't play with their life roll on the table. Hopefully they won't make that mistake again.

When you do perform any action you should think: what can be the consequences of this action.
If one of consequences is that could loose your "life roll" and you can't accept that, then perform that action. simple
