Re: 1 million hands of ZOOM by September

for the QQ hand i think you made the right call. When he jams the turn for all your stack (essentially 2x the pot) it makes sense that a well thought-out player would do this with some kind of drawing hand and figures to have good fold equity. If he had a set/straight/2 pair sort of hand he would be more likely to check raise shove on that turn thereby and giving you good odds to call with some sort of over pair hand like you have. So i think when he jams here he's either jamming a draw and hopping to have good fold equity (like he did) or he might be jamming an over pair and looking to give you a ****ty price if you are drawing (say if you had KQs). But since he just flatted your 3 bet pre its unlikely he has KK or AA. JJ or 1010 would have been a possibility but you beat that anyway. So yep i think vs a skill full player like nano this was the right call. Some fishy opponents do jam there sometimes with sets but you loose so much value, the check raise jam with those hands makes much more sense. thats the way i see it.

Re: 1 million hands of ZOOM by September

We can all see that you've been on the sick heater side of variance, have you ever experienced the opposite and if so, how'd you deal with it?

I've been running at 11bb/100 over 40k+ hands at 5nl zoom now, I finally thought I had cracked it I was really looking forward to getting my head down and producing some sick volume this summer, yet in the past 4 days alone I have dropped $75 at the tables, with an EV of - $35 over 20k hands.

This is my first real downswing, it would give me confidence if a player like yourself has experienced something similar and battled through it. Would appreciate comments!

Re: 1 million hands of ZOOM by September

Yeah habsfan, if he does this with a set its a fold since he doesn't have enough flush draws especially since I have the Qs. But I think he would try to get value with a set by betting smaller.

NeA, I'm on the other side in 10nl, down 15 buyins... but don't worry about if you're up or down, as long as you keep playing well in the long run you'll win. Don't think anything negative when you get sucked out on since it's out of your control and there's nothing you can do about it, it's just something that happens. Don't even look at EV, it doesn't mean anything, and I'm guessing you're not super happy when you're above EV so it can only be a bad thing to look. I just deleted it from my HEM in all the filters. Hope that helps

Also want to add that you should just sit out when you're not in the mood to play. I play a lot of long sessions but probably have a lot that last about 10 minutes too. You don't have to take a huge break, just take an hour to do something else and come back and play when you're in the mood to.

I am not good at games where the big blind is double the small blind.

nice progress so far. how are you planning on dealing with the poor results when playing in SB and BB. Had you broken even at these positions you would've made around 2k this month! I find it tough in zoom especially to define the correct ranged to defend the blinds with. I guess a hud helps there for sure.

Could you also post a graph of: amount won without showdown and amount won with showdown lines?

breaking even in the blinds over a large sample is pretty much impossible. -20/-34 is actually fairly decent blind loss rates.

obv theres room for improvement but this isnt a huge concern.

obv 3betting more, cold calling less, stealing more from the SB are starting points...

I think I'm winning a bunch from these positions, almost 2/3 my money back. Like YouFaiil said, it's going to be pretty hard to be breakeven, but if I get better at playing later streets, or bumhunt more in non-zoom games, it can go up. You should probably just defend the same range you normally do.

My HM2 trial just ended and I haven't set up anything else yet but I'll post soon. I know blue line goes up a lot and red line goes down a lot.

Yea I'm down $200 in non-showdown winnings and up $300+ in showdown winning this month (at 2nl). not sure how to improve on the non-showdown part. du think that would suggest playing too passive post? without a HUD its tough estimating unknown opponents range.

Mine's probably like that too. At the micros where everyone's a calling station it's pretty hard to get your red line up. Green line going up is all that matters though.
