Well its all subjective isnt it

Bring her with you, you me and your nana can grind together. No probs

Watched some of the stream yesterday and quite enjoyed it. I don't normally have time to watch these things. Are you doing any next week?

Not sure, I stream sporadically without a schedule. I'll post it on here if I plan to do one

Does anyone know of any solid stats ref the new stars RB? So far I've been raked precisely $665.29 and only received $27.04 back in rakeback (4.06%). Am I unlucky? Please don't tell me this is the norm!

please enlighten us how a 3b of 12.5bb vs 2.4bb open at 100bb stack depth is good?

I worked out the EV of each chest:

But I'm not sure how much rake you have to pay to get each chest.

Gold for me was 18,000 points (not sure what that is in rake)

Platinum was 48,000 points - which is worth just over 3x a gold chest in EV so there are some benefits for having the higher up chests.

More importantly are the games better?

From my experience so far they have just been smaller pools, if anything the same or slightly worse. Interested to hear what other people think about that though.

Gotta admit, I was curious about this one myself. I thought I was maybe out of the loop in terms of an increase in sizings or something

It's pretty much the norm, most guys in the stable im in getting around 3%.

It's actually funny since the rb system has completely inverted now, the more you rake and better results you have the more points you need to unluck chests and as a result the lower your rb.

Absolutely not lol. Do the work yourself!

Thanks a lot for this ginge!

I think the games are still more than beatable, but obviously the huge slashes in RB come at a pretty detrimental blow. I will stick with PS until there is a clear indication of how the pools have changed, and then make my decision.

It's something I've put quite a bit of work into. FWIW there's not much ev difference.

Yeah I heard about this, I believe that I am getting better RB than some other regs due to me receiving the lower tier chests?

Maybe slightly better but I don't think there is huge rb difference between chest tiers, you likely are on a lower starting tier than most due to attributing less rake/lower volume etc.

What's also ****ed is boosts benefit those who play less volume. If you think about it this way, if you only played when you could boost or w/e it would take less rake to open a chest and therefore better rb.

Basically the more volume you get the more ****ed you are.

It's just crazy. I was expecting a low number for %rb, but 4%... really, 4 ***** percent!!! What a ***** joke.

If nothing is done, I cannot imagine myself staying on Stars, even if I do love the convenience of ZOOM. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I remain somewhat hopeful that stars will go back on their changes (to an extent, at least) after a few months... there's no way they can retain enough regs with other sites (PP) offering more than 10x the rb.

It's entirely dependent on your c4b range.

Yeah - couldn't really put it better myself tbh. It's actually so sickening. They already take so much rake and they're squeezing even harder.

I don't see them ever reverting the changes. It seems more likely that they would raise the rake again in early 2018 if they think people will continue to play.

I pray you both are wrong, but I fear you aren't

---

It's been a long time since I updated here properly, so I suppose now would be a good time to do just that!

Plans to move out are still ongoing. In spite of me being reluctant to stay here in the UK, the fact that I don't have to pay any tax on Poker, and me not having a big enough BR to comfortably move abroad means that I will most likely be moving elsewhere within the UK. However, I have decided to give the studying a much needed rest in the mission to pump out some serious volume at the tables, so there is still a chance that I can pitch the UK plans and move straight abroad. As to where abroad... I'm not 100% sure. Someone offered me a chance to move with him and a buddy of his to Portugal to play on the PS.EU client (it should be really soft there), but that fell through. Atm I am currently toying between eastern Europe and somewhere in Asia. Will have to decide soon!

Poker-wise things are going really, really well. My work ethic has picked up from my last post where I was angry at myself, and as a result, I feel really confident in my game right now. The results are also showing, and that's included with some pretty (very) stupid play on my behalf. I'll admit that I am running pretty well at 200 so far, probably within the top 20-30%, but when factoring out the horrendous **** I've done so far for the road ahead, I do feel very confident that I can beat 200 for at least 3-4bb. FWIW, saying this after now playing ~150k hands there this year, I am really surprised at how soft 100/200nl zoom is. To anyone that says Poker is dying/the games are too tough nowadays, you may be right about Poker dying (albeit a bit more slowly than what is sometimes said), but the games are still very, very beatable, even after all these ****ty RB implementations from Stars. Don't get me wrong, it's not like you can just spin around three times, snap your fingers and expect to crush, but with an innovative mindset to progress, even someone who hasn't touched Poker can expect to make a good living from it by the end of 2018 if they apply themselves correctly.

I forgot to mention in my post yesterday that the coaching is going really well, too. I really enjoy the educating aspect of it, as I thought I would, and after getting to know the guys better, I feel confident enough in the rapport we have to be blunt but fair, which I think is a massive benefit to both parties.

Also awaiting the new i9 range from intel, as this computer is on its way out. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Not really. I thought it had shrunk a fair bit after the first few days, but I think it has recovered back to what it was. I could be wrong as I don't keep track.
