Hey,

thinking about getting pio solver, but for reasons that are unimportant i need to run it on a laptop.

so thinking about the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 as a potential platform

CPU: 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-7300HQ (quad-core, 6MB cache, up to 3.5GHz)
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5); Intel HD Graphics 630.
RAM: 8GB DDR4 (2,400MHz)
Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) anti-glare LED-backlit.

any thoughts?? (have posted this in the tech forum too)

if possible, search for a laptop with more ram

Bigger CPU and bigger ram if you're gonna grind Pio imo

hey fb

yeh those specs aren't going to fare well with PIO at all.

I would recommend 16gb's of ram at a bare minimum, >quadcore, 3.5ghz processor should be good, graphics card does not matter (fwiw your graphics card is excessively good unless you play lots of games), and no you'll need a bigger screen for PIO as well

There's a Dell Alienware with a 17 inch screen that meets those specs. If a 17 inch screen won't hack it, I'm kinda screwed

17in should be fine. You can always find a cheap monitor if you absolutely need a bigger screen.

I've been on top of the PIO game since day 1 without ever having more than 16gb Ram. You only need it for preflop (pointless, copy the kings or just buy the packs), and if you are using it post flop you aren't using PIO efficiently imo.

Would say you need an i7 in a laptop though, desktop i5 quad core is going to be fine.

EDIT; When I went travelling and had to abandon my trusty desktop (desktop always > than laptop) I bought a Dell XPS 15. Use PIO with it daily, coach people with PIO in real time on it, run 200 flop BVB scripts overnight, etc etc, it does the job.

Sorry, very badly worded, meant you shouldn't need more than 8gb for a postflop spot unless you're playing some insanely deep game, or trying to learn a very pointless strategy.

Bigje from Canada is very good, forget his full name on stars... Dennis is also rly annoying to play against, altho I'm pretty sure that's the result of him running super hot vs me

This is just not true... you are not utilising PIO's full potential (in SRP sims) if you run them on 8gb's of ram - I've done the work on this myself, respective to 12gb's of ram, and even then I am still not utilising PIO's full potential

Hey,

I've not been updating here recently as I've been doing my own thing for the last couple months. Figure now is as good a time as any to finally close the thread as I won't be posting anymore updates after this.

Thank you to everyone who chose to follow, even with it being so inconsistent . I've met some super cool people from this thread who I talk to and study with, they know who they are .

Really pleased with the work I've put in so far this year, and the progress that I've made. It's been an eye-opening journey, and I've definitely learned a lot about myself which'll help me for the road ahead.

The current plan is to continue with Poker and (hopefully) break into HS's early next year. I was speaking with someone on Skype recently and sometime during I voiced this to him, without hesitation he said "well, you will actually need to play then", referencing my poor volume, which I now plan to change! So that's the plan: grind 200 and 500 until I have the BR to shot higher (a long with moving out and buying a new PC).

So yeah, HS's, that's where I want - and plan - to get to in the early months of next year. Maybe I am just a dreamer, or maybe I am really onto something. Who really knows. But one things for sure: I shall give it my very best .

To finish, here's the graph for the year and the breakdown just below.

Cheers guys, and GL!

I can't find anyway to build a SRP tree bigger than 12gbs without putting in 3 betsizes on multiple streets BVB. Which I can tell you isn't something you want to be doing, obviously any other SRP spot isn't going to come close even if you do want an unnecessarily complicated strategy. Maybe make sure you have latest version? Tree sizes were significantly reduced, if you want any clarification anyway drop me a pm and I can give you a hand.

Nice results anyway and gl in the future.
