The problem with the last hand is having a raising range on the flop at all IMO when you have a significant range disadvantage (villain has AA/JJ/AJ/A5/AK and you will probably only have AJ of those).
Btw, I also realised I said I'd post my 10nl graph for you and then completely forgot.... my bad! Here it is if you're still interested:
I think that's from a few days ago so have played more hands and winrate will be slightly higher than shown but close enough for an idea!
---------
Had a few exciting opportunities going on in real life over the past couple of days so have literally only played 259 hands - Won a couple of stacks though so my win rate is just the cool 90bb/100 lol. Unfortunately doubt this is sustainable long term

That's it for now - Heading to the gym after work then have a couple of things to do but knee is still not up to football and my girlfriend is working tonight and flatmate is away to London so hoping to get a decent session in this evening
First session done for the day - lost about a buy in and a half in ~1100 hands. Think I played fairly well but was definately starting to feel some tilt creeping in at the end so think I'm breaking at the right time.
Marked a few hands as I was playing and the definate recurring theme seems to being unable to win a pot with AK....
Out of interest I've marked this one as well. Won the pot but do people prefer betting like 1/4pot and calling off or just open jamming given we have < pot behind, there's a fair few bad turn cards and I think their ranges have lots of pairs that might just call anyway?

First hand I think you should be betting turn very often.
KK seems fine, KhKd I'd play differently sometimes.
KK seems fine, KhKd I'd play differently sometimes.
Why haven't you moved up to 25nlz yet?
Cheers for the KK comments. Think I'd be more likely to just bet smaller with the Kh.
Hey. Good question. A few couple of reasons tbh.
The main one is simply being underrolled to play it comfortably without worrying about going busto at the moment.
Real life saving commitments (planning to go to America for 2-3 weeks in summer, hoping to go to Asia for a couple of months at the end of the year and also buy a house with the GF asap) has meant withdrawing more often than would be ideal and I don't really want to be 4 tabling with more than 10% of the roll in play at once.
Second one is that I had a couple of bad sessions at the end of last year which damaged my confidence - realise this is daft though because the only way is to get back on the horse and keep playing!
All that said I have been mixing in some 2 or occasionally 3 tabling shots over the last month or so and finding it ok so plan is to try and get into it more regularly. (More on that below)
--------
Didn't end up playing again after I posted last night but actually had by far the best study/review session I've ever had.
I emailed Stars recently to request all my hands from last year since I played without a HUD for at least 6 months or so. Got round to importing them and although there wasn't massive volume by any means (I played purely for fun last year and only 2 tabled Zoom until I started this thread in mid September and I'd say about 80% of my volume for 2015 came after that anyway) but imported ~15k worth of hands at 25nlz plus a small amount of hands (all <2k I think) at some other stakes.
Long story short I went over a lot of the 25nlz hands I played earlyish last year before I was using HM2 and LOL some of them were horrific The two most blatant things I noticed were that I was playing waaaaay too loose and my tilt control was shocking lol Thankfully I've dramatically improved over the last 5-6 months!
The bright side is that even with doing really bad stuff like peeling trash hands out the BB, not folding stuff like 78o to 3 bets cause "lolpotodds" and playing like 33% VPIP I was winning (a whopping 0.7bb/100) over 18k hands.
Obv a small and not really meaningful sample but looking back at a fair few of the hands I was like "wow I'm the worst"...
If I can win when playing self confessed horribly, then with my recent motivation to play, learn and improve combined with all the extra stuff I know now and waaaaay improved tilt control then I'm confident I can be a decent winner when I move up
------
Back at 10nl today though - Still want to hit 100k hands and at about 93k now so hope to have that out by the end of the week and pad the roll for next 25nl shot!
Well just had my best session in quite a while
Not going to lie, I ran pretty damn hot. Not in terms of giving out bad beats but just coolering a couple of people and having my good hands hold. That said for the most part, very happy with how I played and definately felt "in the zone". Would have liked to keep playing but out for dinner and then off to a quiz tonight. On the plus side, feels good to book my biggest win for a few weeks.
Some Hands today:
Lol WTF... Not that I was ever calling but tilting having to fold on that turn!
Think this was literally the only pot I lost > 40 bb's. Maybe could have found a fold on the river but I'll be honest and say I was paying more attention to the river action on the hand below at the time hence I just kinda autocalled turn and river and didn't stop to actually think about his range. Meh.
Ooooh pretty dirty Been on the wrong end before but first time I've done this to anyone in a looooong time (possibly ever tbh!)

(I actually thought he set me all in on river and snap called hence why I didn't jam, missed out on 16cents extra lolz)

(I actually thought he set me all in on river and snap called hence why I didn't jam, missed out on 16cents extra lolz)
are those hands all today? mbn haha keep it up!
In I was playing 16/25z like 6 months ago but keep taking breaks due to studies and project deadlines. Working on my theory atm and playing on softer euro sites.
H1 v a reg I'd raise on the flop, good equity with little value at SD and I think his donking range includes a lot of marginal hands 9x 8x that don't want to see a turn on that texture along with bluffs KT, QT etc. and very few value hands, 55 would be in 3B range I think. Turn fold is obviously standard as played.
H2 Pre and flop standard, turn not sure if I'd call or raise, there's a few bad river cards that can come for us though, most clubs, Q, J, maybe some others. How would you play the rest of your range? Not sure how I'd play the turn tbh, might stick it into flopzilla, but I'd call river based on individuals stats.
H3 Fine I think, overbetting the river on that texture is exploitable though, but coolaaah
H4 Fine, although I think I'd make turn sizing bigger, any reason in particular it was so small?
H5 Was SB a fish? If not I think I'd raise that flop texture, we definitely want to include some value hands in our raising range and I think we're raising a lot of bluffs with equity too (unless you don't have a raising range in this spot, could be completely off the mark here). But I'd raise flop and shove turn.
Nice work though OP, you seem to post hands often so I look forward to following.

I think you are lucky your villain have at least two pair when you have str8 flush. Subscribed. Good luck!!
Well done on the session
H2 I would def have a raising range vs a turn donk on this board, so putting trips in that range should be good, and then do the same w some of our draws.
H4 Just go bigger on turn to set up a 3/4 ish jam otr, think we'll get more calls that way than when we bet turn this small + overbet jam river.

I much prefer calling that flop over raising, 200bb deep I think we should play our entire continuing range that way to be able to float wider and bluff when checked to on the turn instead, think people are giving up turns too easy as 3bettor so flatting flop should show a higher EV. Plus it sucks when we bluffraise flop w some good equity hands and get jammed on which I think will happen more frequently when deep. That being said, raising obv can't be bad and there are some action killers that can pop on the turn, but yeah I prefer calling flop.
Yeah good points. Thanks It makes sense if you don't have a raising range there and villain is giving up too much on the turn.
Yeh they were literally all within the space of like an hour! Thanks man, seen you a few times at the tables in the last few days so hope it's going well
Hey man, nice to have you on board and appreciate the feedback
16nl just feels like a weird stake to me for some reason so I never play it haha.
Sounds like a good plan you've got there. Def sensible to put studies ahead of poker and certainly can't hurt to work on the theory side of your game. Hope the euro sites are treating you well!
H1 - I think raising flop is pretty sweet actually, I doubt he ever donks better than like 9x and so many good turn cards for us to barrell so I dig it!
H2 - As I mentioned I wasn't paying full attention tbh but yeah think raising turn is the way to go since I almost certainly have the best hand but there's quite a few bad rivers to kill action/get there against us. I'd raise combo draws a lot there too as you and Panda mention
H3 - Looking back, overbetting river is prob not great but when he raised river I just assumed I'd coolered him and he was never folding since I assume nobody ever bluffs like this
H4 - I bet on the small side to try and encourage him to stick around with weak one pair and draw type hands since obv I'm not worried about the board pairing or anything.
That said I do think it looks a bit nutted to bet turn tiny and overbet rip the river so agree with you and Panda saying bet bigger on turn to set up a more normal sized river shove.
H5 - From memory sb was just a random. Flatted flop for basically the reasons panda mentioned but also to try and pot control a bit if it comes an ugly turn since we're almost 200bb's deep.
Was a few days ago now but from memory he tanked for quite a while before calling so I definately did get lucky he just couldn't find the fold haha. Thanks though man, appreciate it and good to have you on board!
Thanks man Appreciate the feedback and def agree with what you say regarding the hands.
Good to see you again too! Was just thinking I hadn't seen your thread in ages when I saw your latest post just now - Would also def follow your next thread and hope results improve but motivation to improve is always good!

Quick update:
- Played lots on Friday - I think ~ 3k hands
- Played like 250 hands yesterday morning while I was trying to do other stuff and it was a disaster lol. Probably unsurprisingly, 4 tabling Zoom while paying like 20% attention does not end well.
- Not played at all today. Been busy with family stuff but also watched Edinburgh derby (Hearts v Hibs) early afternoon. Despite being terrible in the 2nd half, we were leading 2-0 with 10 minutes to go... and Hearts managed to throw away the lead and finished 2-2. Far from happy after!
Sick hourly:
Not been over the hands yet but won a buy in at 25nl. Involved no skill whatsoever on my part though as I coolered the guy QQ v JJ and held blind v blind.

h1 - folding to 3bet, folding to flop bet
h2- don't think it's as bad as you are implying tbh
h3- you can jam vs reg this position no problem but by his 4bet sizing he is just bad and likely therefore either only has AA/KK here or is a maniac and very wide, so i'm probably flatting vs that sizing

If villain is 4b JJ+,AK and not folding to 5b jam then 100bb deep jamming is -20bb total (before rake considerations..) or -10bb worse than folding if you want to look at it as folding = 0ev. If it's against a reg that is never 4b bluffing then getting it in pre is actuallly really bad. I'm not arguing call vs fold bc thats a bit more complicated, just that we shouldn't stack off if villain isn't 4b folding which shouldn't be too uncommon in these games.

I think the flop call can be OK but agreed on folding to 3bet being best play and turn is lol bad by me
h2- don't think it's as bad as you are implying tbh
I mean I don't think it's terrible or anything and is at least a semi-cooler. Just not sure people are ever stacking off with worse

Yeah I think against somebody LAG/aggro over a lot of hands or somebody I have notes on then it'd prob be fine but don't love it against a random who I assume is never bluffing or folding when he goes this big.

I doubt the average 10nl guy is much wider than QQ+ and AK here which if my maths is right gives me like 40% against his range so pretty sure stacking off is bad.
As for calling v folding, 3b/f AK button v blind seems insane but I don't love flatting 1/3 my stack OOP considering that we miss so often, occasionally get owned by KK/AA on a K high flop and even if we do hit v QQ or KK then doubt we make much anyway.
Agreed H1 as played you can call flop, villains range is still quite wide and have some backdoors.
H2 Not sure tbh, our range is still ahead so I'd probably lead again especially since he can check back so many of his hands there, nut flush type hands with sd value? I don't know I'd like to hear more thoughts, that sort of texture is always pretty tough!
H3 Yeah 4b sizing is super exploitable, you only need to jam like less than 30% of the time, pretty much same frequencies as 3B intuitively as the sizing is the same as an OOP 3B (more dead money though I guess so a little higher), but BTN vs SB i'm probably still jamming if I'm 4tz lol so ul Probably a call though, can c/j flop.

Biggest loss was my KK < QQ AIPF too so could have gone even better but suppose lucky it was against a half stacker and I certainly can't complain for an hour's work.
WIll do a bigger update when I have time but GL to everyone!
Well... it's been a while since I updated this but I'm back!
Firstly my bad for kinda letting this thread die. From my own experience as a reader then I know it's frustrating and disappointing when you're following along with something and then the poster suddenly disappears without trace. Apologies for that and hopefully anyone who was following before will come back when I get back into the swing of updating this more regularly!
Anyway happy to report that the reason I stopped updating wasn't due to being busto or going on a massive downswing. I've just barely played on Stars so my current roll there is more or less the same as it was a month ago and I've prob played < 4k hands there since the last update.
Biggest poker development since my last post is that I'm now being backed for online cash!
I'll be honest and say that this came a bit out of the blue, I've sold pieces for one off tournaments to friends in the past and stuff but ongoing backing wasn't really something I'd ever really considered.
I've touched on this is the thread before but due to various real life plans for later in the year (which I'm excited about and wouldn't change!) then I've not been able to keep as much money online as I'd need to play higher comfortably on my own. I decided to have a look in the “offering stakes” section of the forum for the first time ever about 6 weeks ago. Long story short that ended up with me applying to one stable and being accepted so as of the 8th of Feb then I've been staked and playing on iPoker.
It's obviously very early days and to be totally honest I'm not even playing any higher than I was when I was on my own at the moment but I'm still really happy I made the decision. I've not been able to take full advantage of the coaching calls yet but the partners are always available for any questions or help with hands and are both really friendly and supportive. The Skype group is full of good lads too and within days I'd been pointed to a leak that was costing me -8bb/100 in a spot I'd never really thought about which is obv pretty huge and I'm already a better player than I was a month ago.
The only tilting things are that iPoker software can be pretty unreliable at times and 'speed' poker (eg Zoom) at my normal stakes doesn't really ever run so volume is lower than I would like. Think I've gone from ~800 hands an hour 4tabling Zoom to between 4-500 hph.
That said, games are definitely softer: I've played with a few 85%+vpip guys and depending on how many games are running then I've started playing 6 normal tables (still pretty lol I know but I can't deal with stacked and it's hard to fit more on a 15” laptop screen...) topped up with sessions where I'll 4table some LOL 5nl purely for volume.
Unimpressive graph for the 5 weeks or so I've been playing:
Pretty sure it's missing some hands and rakeback doesn't seem to show up for whatever reason but adds about another 60ish euro onto winnings. Small sample but off to a slow yet steady start I suppose.
Away from all of that I've just booked to go back to Vegas from 6th-15th June! (moving on to Orlando for a week after too) staying at Aria and can't wait! Will be with the GF so unlikely to play a lot of poker but will definitely put in a few sessions. Millionaire Maker is also on at the same time I'm there...
I'll mainly play cash but I've been the past 3 years running (twice with GF once for poker trip) and been lucky enough to win or chop a tourney every time so pretty sure if I can bink one more then my Hendon Mob will have more entries for Vegas than Scotland lol... I enjoy live tournies but barely ever play at home cause I have no time... That and the idea of grinding for 8 hours with your average tilting degen sounds way less fun than destroying free booze and going on a heater while drunk in Vegas...
I have no idea what point in the tourney this is but pic is from last year at a Caesars turbo donkament when I started on the cocktails at 10am and ended up chopping it 3 handed a few hours later after many, many cocktails. Fun times all round!
Finally have a specialist appointment for my knee that I injured at football the better part of 2 years ago now too! I have to drive basically 2 hours each way next Thursday the 24th but means I can get seen a couple of months sooner so thought it was worth it. What (if anything) they'll do I have no idea but fingers are crossed they can find and fix something! I was originally told “soft tissue damage” and that it would heal itself but that was July 2014 soooo...
I've got knee exercises that I'm meant to do twice a day as well and I've been pretty good about them in general but missed them a few times recently so going forward I'm going to offer some sort of freeroll to people if I don't do them 2x a day every day. (Probs just $10 on Stars but I'll try and think if there's anything more imaginative I can offer)
Might have some potential freelance sports (football) journalism work lined up but waiting to hear back on that. Longer term plan for the (hopefully) near-ish future is to join the police – I can run on a treadmill fine and I'm fit enough currently but it's all kind of on hold until I hear about the knee so fingers crossed!
No hands for now cause I'm lazy but I'll get some in the next update!
Realise this is pretty long so TLDR cliffs:
- Back and not busto
- Now being backed for online cash. Enjoying it so far. Playing on iPoker
- Still at micros, up a little. Small sample but +6.59bb/100 which is decent but def room for improvement
- Going to Vegas in June
- Getting injured knee looked at next week - freeroll to follow
Not going to set any monetary goals at the moment so only immediate aims are to play as well as I can and keep improving.
Would like to play a minimum of 1k hands a day but not going to sweat it if I don't. Would rather play when feeling it and 100% focused than force myself to grind and spew off buy ins.
Thanks to people for reading and hopefully I'll have some fun hands for the next post!

nice update gl with the coming months
Great update man, welcome back! What limit are you currently playing on the stake, and what's the plan for moving you up? Going to play speedpoker on there when moving up to a limit that runs? No worries if you don't want to answer these now, just curious. Also, hope the new ipoker software isn't too tilting for you as I tried it briefly a couple weeks ago and didn't really like it
GLGL, definitely still following!
