Well, I had fun but nationals didn't really go to plan on Saturday...

Got a pretty dream table draw at the start.

I had 2 guys I know from Edinburgh to my direct left - Both are what I would call decent to solid players. They know what they're doing and are not going to just gift their chips away but that said I think both play relatively ABC and a bit overly tight so I'm close to never getting 3bet light.

Other than that the rest of the table were randoms and there was loads of open limping, showing cards and all that kinda stuff.

I'm pretty card dead but get off to a decent start just raising and cbetting etc. Nothing exciting happens but I manage to win a few small pots and chip up nicely.

One LOL moment where a guy swears he folded a baby flush when I value bet red KK on the river on a board with 3 clubs - I'm like 95% sure he was lying but some of these people were so bad it's not entirely impossible...

Unfortunately the structure was lolterrible. There were no 25 chips in play so starting stack was 20k and blinds start at 100/100 - ok, bit unusual but not the worst...

It then went:

100/200
100/300 (lol wtf?)
then 200/400

By the time we get to the dinner break there's something like 80 players left and average stack is 25bb's... I have about 24k at 400/800/100 so am above average with 30 bigs...

The blinds continue to increase and I jam 55 UTG 6 or 7 handed with like 6 bb's and a guy with a huge stack says he folded 77 lol.

I make it to the next break when we must be down to 40 or so players and dream table breaks. I get moved to a table with loads of big stacks but unfortunately I remain card dead and eventually shove my last 4 bb's on the button having sweated a Jack... only for the BB to have AA and flop top set. Somehow my J3 doesn't go runner runner and it's GG for me.

Bit tilted by how bad the structure and organisation was but it's whatever really. Had a pretty fun day getting drunk regardless and considering I'd barely eaten all day I was the most drunk I've been in a long time by the end of the day! Also watched most of the boxing and booked a small win at Blackjack before we headed for the last train back home.

I'm over my runbad online and enjoying playing again. Got the last few VPP's I needed for Goldstar over the past couple of days and managed to run pretty well and book a couple of fairly solid wins yesterday and today.

Peel pre might be a bit loose but figure we're deep and in position so meh. Bring on the flop! Not sure about how I played this post. Probably didn't cover myself in glory though. Checked flop cause getting c/r would be sad and not sure if I want to start barreling multiple streets to get him off pairs if I miss.

Not sure if I should raise river but decided to just nit call cause people tend to just pot when they have it but guess there's value to be had from AK and sets

Last one for now is a loser - I just called flop and turn to try and get the short stack in too. What do people think about my river jam!?

Discounted KT a bit since he donked flop but JJ prob 3bets pre at least sometimes and the bdfd gets there on the river too so not sure if I'm just being results orientated but maybe a little optimistic to think he calls worse!?

              November Review:

At the start of last month I set myself the following goals:

[ ] Put more work in at studying and improving whether it be videos or books

I've marked and reviewed a few hands on HM2 but otherwise done literally nothing towards achieving this goal... No book/articles/videos or anything so afraid it's one big fat FAIL

              [X] Improve my tilt control

Actually feel pretty good about this one! Went through an annoying run where I kept losing as favourite and had a bit of a moan about it but don't think I let it affect my play and didn't start playing higher while steaming like I've done in the past so giving myself a PASS for this one

              [ ] 40k hands

31,785 so FAIL - Bit disappointing because I was definately on course to hit this at the halfway point but not too upset because I didn't play when I didn't want to and I incresed volume for the third month running and it was my highest volume month ever so getting there slowly!

              [X] Maintain Goldstar

              Success!

[ ] Play some UKIPT edinburgh sat's and ideally luckbox a seat and score!

Hmm... half a point here... Did end up playing a few satellites and won seats into a couple of direct sat's from small buy in feeders so not a complete fail but did needlessly leave it until a few days before to get organised and then didn't manage to win a seat. So I suppose (mainly) FAIL

              Non Poker:

[ ] get back to going to the gym regularly

FAIL Been a couple of times recently but been bad in general so disappointed with this!

Graph for the month as a whole:

Bit of a “meh” overall – I felt like I played reasonably for the most part and nice to have a winning month but basically breaking even for the last 20k hands is pretty depressing :/

Would rate my overall play at like a C+/B- type of level – Not bad for the most part and almost entirely tilt free... but I still think I'm peeling too many 3bets even in position.

I actually think I can get away with it at this level since people generally play pretty straightforwardly but suspect it'd lead to bloated pots and tougher decisions if I move up a level or two so trying to get out of the habit now.

Before looking at the graph, I would have guessed or at least suspected that I was probably over-bluffing rivers too but my showdown graph line seems fine and it's not like I'm getting constantly called or I'd have dialled it down so may be fine!

OK so now November is out the way how have my December sessions been going?

Well... I haven't played a single hand because I actually ended up taking part in the Stars strike over the last 3 days.

To tell you truth I was undecided until the first day if I would bother or not.

As anyone who's followed this will know it's pretty clear that I don't play anywhere often enough or high enough to even get close to Supernova/SNE anyway and from what I gather as a Silver/Goldstar then (barring games possibly becoming tougher if breakeven/rakeback guys move down) it's not like the changes will really affect me at all

(I'm open to being corrected on this but I believe it was the case that Silver/Gold Stars rewards were basically unchanged when I looked at the details when things were first announced/leaked a few weeks ago?)

Do I actually think a strike will make any difference? Honestly no. Given that combined with the changes not really affecting me anyway then some people might understandably ask why bother? It's the principle of the matter I suppose.

I don't think Stars “owe” the players anything however letting people invest a year of their lives into hunting SN/SNE only to then turn around and tell them a month before that they're not getting their rewards and benefits seems incredibly harsh since I'm assuming a lot of those players wouldn't have bothered had they known. If Stars had turned around and said OK your status is valid through 2016 but we're announcing now that these perks are being stopped after next year then that'd be totally fine imo.

This just seems like a bit of an FU to people and there's not really any denying that Stars has gone downhill since Amaya took over so that was my TLDR reasons for sitting the last few days out.

So what's in store for December?

              Goals:

              - I'm about 1200 VPP's shy of another (and my last of the year) $50 bonus so I'll make sure and clear that as goal #1.

              - Convert all my FPP's by grinding the 6max hyper sats before the “StarsCoin” (lol terrible name btw) conversion next year devalues them.

              - Put serious effort into trying to improve – No more marking a few hands in HM2 and watching them going “Yeah OK, so I should have done XYZ instead here – cool that'll do”

Proper effort into improving. I'm off work for 2 weeks over Christmas and new year so will have plenty of time and therefore literally no excuse this time!! Appealing for any suggestions here (book/video or other) cause honestly I have no idea where to start...

              - Partly related to the improve goal but less autopilot – 4 tabling 10nl Zoom gets really dull so gonna try and start playing 25nl more regularly but prob only 2 tabling to start with. Means less danger to the roll since it's still a bit on the small side but also hopefully more thinking about decisions rather than just auto 3betting and stuff.

              Non Poker Goals:

Like I mentioned above, 2 weeks off work over Xmas and new year which is awesome. Last year I was super lazy though so determined to be at least semi productive with the time this year!

-Gym minimum of 3x a week

              -Read at least 1 book

-Learn a new skill – either how to cook a couple of meals or maybe start learning a language...

Figure since I don't have any new hands or graphs or anything to post I'd add in the overall graph since I started this thread in mid September: Mainly 10nl with a relatively small amount of 25 and 100nl zoom too.

              Hands Played: 68,897

              + $360.36
              +4.51bb/100

Disappointed with my 10nl win rate tbh. Must admit I thought it'd be higher but guess a couple of bad sessions at higher stakes will hurt it. Still looking to be at 7/8bb's though...

Withdrew some money a few weeks ago to pay for some unexpected car repairs which came up at it's MOT and service a couple of weeks ago and also lost a bit in UKIPT satellites last month combined with a bad run the last week or so of October.

That means the current bankroll is:

              $507
              + T$107
              + 2726 FPPs

Not the worst but not amazing.

Stuff on this afternoon so gonna try and get back to playing tomorrow!

Not updated this in a while but to tell the truth I've barely played this month! Story of November so far is decent results but shamefully low volume...

Couple of buy in's below EV but I'd say I'm running "meh" overall - seem to be losing a lot of all in's when I flop big then get outdrawn but have been on the right end of AA v KK (and held!) four or five times in the past day or two so can't really complain I suppose!

Gonna try and get a session in tomorrow and then off to Aberdeen for the weekend. I'm driving up early Saturday with two of my friends for the Hearts match up there and combining that with a visit to see our other friend (and my ex-flatmate) who's living up there now for medical school. Means I won't be grinding at all on Saturday which is usually when I get my bigger sessions on but should be a good trip and looking forward to it so s'all good! 3 of the 4 of us going are poker players and while I doubt we'll play at all it's not impossible that we end up in the casino on Saturday night...

Only other recent news is that - as anybody from central Scotland will know - the Forth Road Bridge which links Edinburgh and Fife has had to be closed until the new year for safety after they found a fault with it. It's causing problems on the roads and is a bit of a nightmare for people commuting for work – it doesn't affect me other than meaning I can't get to coaching the kids football.

Not the end of the world but annoying none the less because I'm still enjoying it and find it rewarding. I'll be back but not until it gets fixed which won't be until early next year at the very earliest. On the bright side it means less driving time and I now have more free time on Tuesday and Thursday nights so might try and play an MTT or two this month since I enjoy them but basically never have time to play them

Few hands from the past couple of days:

Obv I'd normally fold pre but for some reason I didn't here... Block sets hard and 35 UTG is super unlikely. Figure he has overpairs and flush draws almost always on the flop. Guess I find a fold if I slowplay it but oh well, got it in good!

Yuck Not the greatest run out after such a glorious flop lol... I actually almost checked the river but figure he has enough overpairs that'll sigh call off to make jamming OK? Not sure though. He even tank called river. Not really long enough for it to be a slowroll but maybe like 7-8 seconds. I guess I would play 33 and 66 the same but still tilted me slightly!

Well, unfortunately Aberdeen trip at the weekend got off to a bad start as Hearts lost in bizarre circumstances. With the score at 0-0 with 2 minutes to go, one of our defenders decided to jump up and punch the ball in the penalty box when there was nobody near him... That cost us a penalty which Aberdeen scored a winning goal from... Was insanely life tilted after that but thankfully was soon forgotten thanks to a really good weekend away.

The 4 of us ended up in the casino on Saturday night after a flat party and 2 of us asked about cash but was only 1 table of 1/2 going and 2 ahead of us on the wait list already so ended up not playing. Did however all leave the casino up money including one of us (sadly not myself) +1200ish from roullette after starting with just £40 so not a bad nights work!

Poker wise things have been meh. I finally cashed the pub game on a Monday night for the first time in weeks but I've barely played online and when I have I've just felt bored and not really been motivated... resulting in playing what I'd say was my C game at best...

Managed >1000 hands today for genuinely probably only about the 3rd time this month or something. Volume has been horrific and results and play standard both pretty poor too. Any tips to stay motivated!? Pretty much the only plus points recently have been I've been pretty good about going to the gym regularly and have playing more 25nl than before and it's going OK if not brilliant, think I'm winning at a really small level but over a totally insignificant sample anyway.

Halfway point in the month and I'm only on 9000 hands and +$25 lol. I suppose it could be worse considering I'm still winning but really disappointed compared to my volume and results the past couple of months.

Realistically gonna play less than the last few months with Christmas, nights out and and what not but aim is to reach at least 25k hands for this month and rediscover my motivation. Would also like to hit 100k hands at 10nl in the relatively near future but will almost certainly be into January before that (on ~75k just now)

I also see my FPPs are now "StarsCoin" thought that wasn't happening until January!?

Extreme long shot I realise but know there's a fair few Scottish based posters on here so can't hurt.

My friend is running a charity poker tournament at the Alea in Glasgow tomorrow. Happy to answer any questions myself but all the details are here:

                                  https://www.facebook.com/events/936060246441215/

Obviously it's for a good cause and should be a decent day. I can't make it myself but have a £75 seat that I won for sale and would happily do discount if it meant someone else could play instead. PM me if anyone wants it.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules posting this but just looking to raise awareness and get a few extra players in. Cheers guys

Severely neglected this thread! Don't think I've played in the last 4-5 days but just squeezed in a quick 15 minute session with no HUD and made just under 3 buy ins

Biggest hands were 99 on a KxQ9 flop.

Called a ch/jam all in and he had K4

J on the turn but in the festive spirit I rivered quads lol

Also had KK v AK and flatted a 4bet then let him bluff when it ran out 4's on board and I had K

Off to get ready now then heading to the families. Have a great Christmas everyone!

Had a half hour session today, only 500 hands and -$15

Basically broke even (was +like $2 with no interesting spots until the last minute of the session) and then these happened.

Felt I played OK overall although missed value on a couple of rivers. Disappointing to book a loss cause had already ticked sit out next BB when these happened but ah well. Felt fine after anyway.

Gonna try get a decent grind in tomorrow then I'll do a recap for the month/year in a day or two

Guess he owned me... Really didn't expect him to be so strong haha.

                                      Happy new year guys!

I'm out for a friends birthday dinner tonight so I'll get a summary of December/last year up tomorrow

In the mean time it's been a decent start to the year Zoom-wise. (Spoiler I barely played over the past month!) So only been playing 10nl while I shake off any rustiness but I played 1k hands today for the first time in probably 3-4 weeks! Think I've played not too badly but have run pretty well tbh so no complaints!

A few hands from the past 2 days:

So I misclicked pre here... Just a small pot but I actually really rarely do stuff like this... He checked the river so quickly that I was 99% certain he didn't have a flush or straight, I have a straight and flush blocker and figure a set raises somewhere earlier...

How bad is pre? Obv my hand is pretty trash but thought I was priced in with a suited K in position... Might just be spew though. Think post is standard - obv I got lucky but given how long he tanked with QQ then I think he's folding enough to make shoving good...

                                            Biggest win

I flatted flop to give myself a chance to get away if it came an ugly turn and let him keep bluffing if he doesn't have it but doubt I'm folding many turns for 1/2 pot jam so maybe just shoving and charging his draws is better...

Soooo... I realise that the time has rather come and gone to review my December/2015 goals and results but in an attempt to get this thread back up to date and on track then I'm going to give a pretty quick recap!

Truthfully I barely played at all in December but I'll post my monthly stats and then graph for the year as a whole at the end anyway for completion sake. The two weeks off work I had over Christmas when I had planned to play lots of hands ended up getting used almost entirely for relaxing, spending time with the GF, drinking and Christmas nights out and as a result no grinding or much to add to the thread... Don't regret this though because was a good month life and fun-wise!

Below were the goals I set myself in this thread at the start of the month and in bold below the results...

                                              Quote:

                                              - I'm about 1200 VPP's shy of another (and my last of the year) $50 bonus so I'll make sure and clear that as goal #1.

OK so full disclosure... This was a massive fail. I'll be honest and admit that when I wasn't logging on to stars every day I completely forgot about this and never got my last VPP's which was pretty tilting.

                                              - Convert all my FPP's by grinding the 6max hyper sats before the “StarsCoin” (lol terrible name btw) conversion next year devalues them.

Actually managed this one. Sold a couple of hundred worth of $T and then withdrew that 'extra money' and left my original BR on (although I kept a few FPP's back just in case there was some **** I wanted appear in the store which prob wasn't worth it but meh)

Guess what? When more or less ignoring poker I didn't study at all

Not really - Think I did limit myself to 3 tables when playing 25nl but obv not any sort of meaningful volume.

                                              Non Poker Goals:

Like I mentioned above, 2 weeks off work over Xmas and new year which is awesome. Last year I was super lazy though so determined to be at least semi productive with the time this year!

-Gym minimum of 3x a week

Been going relatively regularly with the GF so actually succeeded on this one!

                                              -Read at least 1 book

Sucess on this one too! Read 'The Kind Worth Killing' and would definately recommend it. It's a thriller about a guy who decides to murder his cheating wife with a strangers help and was pretty addictive. Currently about 2/3 of the way through "The Girl On The Train" which I'm enjoying too.

Ashamed to say I never got round to this either but is still on the "things to do" agenda for near future!
                                              December stats:

                                              2015 graph as a whole:

                                              Hands: 79,309
                                              $: + $575.13
                                              bb/100: 4.72

                                              - All stakes (10,25 and 100 nl)
                                              - Estimate around 80% 10nl
                                              - 95% of volume between mid September and December but will be a few k hands from earlier in the year and probably missing 12k or so (almost entirely 25nl) from before I purchased HM2 at end of April.
                                              - Had a lot of other non-poker stuff going on towards the end of the year so wouldn't have played much anyway but pretty sure the long breakeven stretch at the end killed my enthusiasm too.
                                              - Disappointed in my overall win rate tbh. Pretty sure some terrible 25nl sessions dragged it down.

                                              On to 2016...

Was in Malta for a week at the start of January which was great - Only downside was our hotel in Cirkewwa (sp?) was a bit out of the way and me and the GF were probably the only people there under 50 lol.

Hotel itself was nice enough though and bus service seemed not too bad. I'd go back but would prob rent a car for conveniance next time. Was nice being able to drink and not having to bother with parking though

Wasn't super warm or sunny weather wise but certainly hotter and drier than Scotland! I just got a new phone (Fiiiinally upgrading my beloved Samsung S3 to a new S6) but I'll get round to transferring the pictures from my old one and then stick a few up here if anyone's interested.

Think that's things more or less up to date... I'm back to the kids football training as of this week after 6 weeks or so off and I've played a small amount of 10nl this month - not enough to justify a full update but I'll stick a graph up at the end of the month and post a few hands I've marked

Sorry for the length of this post - Really aim to update smaller but more frequently in future!

Fun one cause I barely ever do stuff like this...

Suspect it might have been fancy play syndrome but I bet tiny on the flop since I have such a stronger range than him here and I thought by betting so small I could look weaker and encourage him to stick around with Ax, random overs and stuff which he might fold for bigger sizing.

When he called turn I was pretty sure he had 9X and I'm not in the business of trying to bluff micro players of TP but figured my hand looks so much like KK/AA getting greedy that he might fold for 2x pot...

This one was pretty funny - Assume he never has AA/KK when he flats button v CO and obv super hard for him to have QX so when he raises turn I was like WTF haha. Assume it's some bizarre bluff or he has the 9. Given that, then I guess calling down is the best line but felt like a mega nit... Anyone ever jam turn or river?

Only really marked it cause it was my biggest loss.

I'm not sure how much I love stacking off with AK pre at zoom in all honesty based on what I've seen but at the same time 3b/f seems absurd and I'm not sure that readless (0 hands on him) I can fold given positions, how aggro I play pre and how good my hand is... Standard I think but was a bit meh after this one.

Not going to lie I was bluffing the river with blockers to straight and flush... and managed to get paid by worse lol.

Looking back though, I'd bet a flush and probably a straight on the turn so pretty sure this is just me clicking buttons and getting rewarded. Don't love this tbh.

                                                      Awesome thread bro!

I would love to see the graph respect of only 10NL to see your win rate

Hand 1: I love the overbet there, your range is uncapped and his 2p/sets would likely raise turn so you can definitely fire the third and final barrel there, WP!

Hand 2: Nice call OTR, if he really has 9x then bl

Hand 3: I 3b 3x IP and a bit more OOP. When an unknown 4b's vs a big 3b sizing I am snap folding AKo, AKs is closer but still folding. QQ is debatable in micro's as people are generally nutted when 4b'ing, but I wouldn't hate you for shoving it. KK/AA V is gonna see a 5b to the FACE.

Hand 4: I fold flop when V donks pot. I don't think calling makes any sense as we just fold turn 90% of the time (V checking OTT after donking pot OTF is a rarity tbh).

                                                      Good stuff!

                                                      Good stuff!

Thanks man! Really appreciate the kind words! Glad you like it!

Ask and you shall recieve! (I'm assuming you mean my "all time" (which is actually only last year since I never had HM2 before that) 10nl graph? If so I'll post it in the next update but if not lemme know what you're after!)

I haven't used Skype in forever but if I can find my login details then I'll get you to add me!

                                                      Thanks for the hand feedback.

I think AK is pretty close given the reasons I gave in the original post but do actually agree that I can get away from the it given his sizing is never folding to a shove and the fact that probably like 95% of people 4bet range here is QQ+ and AK

Folding a hand > 2nd pair (and a load of backdoors) to a donk seemed super nitty and I didn't think he'd donk super strong although tbh I don't think I really considered in game that he potted it. Probably means he is betting most turns so might be right and while folding is weak, it saves money in the long run if I'm giving up on any turn that doesn't improve me.

Thanks for the input and looking back at it I'm in total agreement on H.4

Surely by checking turn on H.1 then we're basically giving up and hoping to hit a 6-outer though? He doesn't have many stong hands except 9sfull, quads and maybe a couple of suited 3s and I assume that we're never checking A9 or TT+ here(??)

Actually pretty tilted because aside from spunking $40 away on these bets, Hearts have been playing some really good stuff and scoring a lot of goals recently. (We won 6-0 last week!)

This game was live on TV though and pretty much summed up why people think Scottish football is brutal. After Hearts (deservedly) had a man sent off for a 2 footed tackle early on, Hamilton then proceeded to try and kick us off the pitch. We looked like the only team trying to win the game but missed a couple of great chances late on and in addition to the disappointing result and lost bets the game was super low on quality overall and we didn't do ourselves justice so poor all round.

Think some people might say fold to a 4x pre but multiway and closing the action I think it's ok? That said I'm not gonna lie I got a little lost on the turn here...

I don't think I have any fold equity when he bets so big so c/call is better tha c/jam right??

Anyone ever bluff river!? Don't think I love it when he bets so big on the turn given I probably just jam 2pair and sets then plus the most obvious draws miss but interested to hear what others would do in this spot.

Pretty sure he rarely has AA/KK/JJ given the action so I effectively have the 2nd nuts but QT is def in his range and not sure if he's calling hands like Ax KJ or not? Might be too thin but honestly not sure so welcome any feedback on that one.

Found out last night that I can't go back to coaching the kids football until they get a PVG (protecting vulnerable groups) form sorted for me. Won't be a problem passing it but they can't do it until the first weekend in Feb and then I gather it takes 4 weeks or so to come back so will have Tuesday and Thursday nights free for the next 6 weeks or so. Enjoy it but will be nice to have a bit more free time and less driving there and back. Will try and fit some poker into the extra time too!

Not much else to report, had AA cracked like 3 times to shortstacks when either all in pre or well ahead on the flop but it happens and I've been running pretty well overall (not delivering brutal suckouts or anything but just having KK lots and having hands hold for the most part) so can't complain tbh.

Didn't get a chance to play at all this weekend meaning my volume for January was pretty terrible to be honest. Graph for the month as a whole is here:

Obv doesn't mean much given the volume (or more accuarately lack of) but I suppose booking a small win is better than nothing.

Definately aiming for at least 25k hands in February though and ideally would average at least 1k per day so would be happy with 30k hands this month. Looking to watch some 6max Zoom videos too so if anyone has any recommendations feel free to point me towards them!

Unfortunately no holidays coming up this month but on the bright side, that means I should be able to grind most days and I got my motivation back a few days ago so feeling good about the month ahead

Already managed 1700 or so since finishing work today,

No really big or interesting spots so far tbh, just making hands and betting. Only yucky spot was this one which cost me a buy in but think it's fair to just mark down as a cooler?
