Hey, I will respond to this in a post below. I'm not a fan of my old DC content, though I think it was pretty solid for the age it was made in.

I'm glad Parker has good things to say about me. We aren't close but we have been "poker friends" for a good while now and both came up together in the turbo MTTSNG grind. Jaime and I are good friends and I have coached him in the past, so I hope he says nice things too! Parker is one of the best players around in terms of poker, and basically if the luck breaks even he will win more than his fair share. Glad he shipped the Thrill.

I watch both of their streams. Parker is extremely good at poker and extremely popular so it does reduce my motivation to stream. You honestly can't go wrong with just watching him every day, lol.

Thoughts after Sunday Review:

I'm starting up a Tuesday session now. I am very disappointed with myself after the Sunday grind. I feel that Sundays are basically a momentum stopper in a lot of situations. In the past few weeks, my ev bb/100 has been breakevenish on Sundays, on account I think of playing too many tables and being way too greedy with table counts.

There were times on Sunday where I was just literally timing out and clicking decisions as fast as possible to try to get plays in. There were way too many majors going on that day (Party, FTOPS running concurrently), but that's no excuse. The mentality of a grinder makes me want to push ev but it's really not a smart idea.

TN2 also changed my settings on FTP, so I had a stack of 2 tables running and ended up sitting out half my stack in the FTP 109. Stuff like this is just really inexcusable. I shouldn't be getting stupid and complacent and so I will really work on fixing this in the future and skipping some of the bowlcomps on Stars to reduce table count.

At the end of the day though, I was pretty sharply focused at the end on my deep runs. I had a legitimate shot at a lot of money despite playing my C- game for the early part.

- 8th 13.50 KO (honestly just a cut or a max late reg)
- 13th WPN Major
- 17th 82 Hyper
- 22nd Hotter 82
- 30th Whale
- 35th Sunday Rebuy

If a few flips had broken differently, I would have had a nice score. I haven't had one of those in a while on Sunday, and a lot of it is tied to variance and some of it falls on my shoulders. Like I said, I'll fix it for the next go round.

Thoughts on Poker Coaching and Improving Your Game:

I'd say one of the most common questions I get is how I study and what I think about coaching and training sites. So I will post my thoughts here, and props to you all for asking those questions since they're really important.

Coaching:

I'm not a fan of coaching. I think it is very inefficient from a $/hour perspective and maybe 1/50 coaches will hit that sweet spot of being "worth it." Me personally I have paid for a few coaches before including Sam Greenwood, and even that time wasn't worth it for me at the time because he was thinking at such a higher level of poker that a lot of it was kind of lost on me.

Another big problem with coaching is that it's honestly just a minefield. There's just so many mediocre to break even coaches now who aren't even beating the games any more who realize that there is a good hustle to be had in either coaching or charging markup. I'm not going to put people on blast because it's not really my thing but I can think of 5 names off the top of my head alone.

Training Sites:

Due to their nature, almost every training site is "worth it." Even the withered ones are ok as long as they have one quality name. So basically what I'm doing is browsing every training site, one at a time, including trials, and picking out the good coaches that I respect. I wouldn't waste my time watching midstakes guys, unless I want to gain insight into how the avg midstakes regular thinks. Then you just watch every video and it's hard not to get better at poker, especially if you're not good to start with.

I would stick to stuff past 2015, but some good names off the top of my head are:

The Greenwoods, gray31, sauce, galfond, jakoon, andy mcleod, apestyles, and more. Sorry, I'm a bit out of the loop with non RIO sites.

Stables:

If you want poker to be your career, nothing beats joining a respected stable that offers full time coaching. Make sure it's actually a good stable of coaches though and don't worry about the percentage cut too much. Last year, without needing staking, I willingly gave up 60% cut to my coaches because I realized my yearly ev wasn't very high and very swingy.

Because of their help, my yearly ev is now pushing 200k (their opinion not mine which I respect of course) or higher. Mentorship from better players is the best way to improve.

Ul on the deep runs on Sunday, it will come!

Great post above, thanks for writing that out. What are your thoughts on coaches offering CFP(coaching for profits).

I imagine when you say you gave 60% cut to coaches this means that you were backed 100% by stable and you got 40% cut of profits right?

I'm not sure who's teaching these clown regs this thing. I assume it follows some train of logic that it looks strong because BB is committed, but it's just stupid because BB is committed. This might be the worst open raise I've seen this year, which is saying a lot.

This is in a satellite where you have to be extremely tight at calling off shoves. You'll be showing your whole hand here.

So this is a bit impulsive since I'm pretty tired but I've just decided not to stream Twitch for now. My layout/audio quality are pretty terrible and I think tonkaaaaa honestly has the "good player streaming" bases covered pretty well. I do enjoy talking with people but I do think I'm giving up a bit too much ev and not getting enough back. By this I mean I lose focus while streaming and chatting and I have to downscale my computer resolution to stream, which makes everything ugly and poopy. Plus people who play regularly against me can gain a lot of insight and that's pretty important if I'm firing every $500 daily with the same player pool.

Much respect to people like jaime and parker who are able to stream every day and keep things fresh and entertaining. It's not for me, for now.

Having a very rough day today at the top end of my buyin range.

215 Bounty Builder: I shoved AA on a JTxx board with two diamonds and got called on the turn by a recreational player with QTdd for a huge pot.

Hotter 162: Lost QQ vs AJ (was a really bad induce by a nittier reg) near the bubble (27 paid) for a good shot to win the whole thing

109R: Lost AA vs QQ and TT vs 99 to the same guy, both times for a massive amount of BB. The second suckout was for a 60bb+ bb pot or something and maybe the chiplead.

Wah Wah Wah it'll all even out at some point and I got a key suckout in the Party 500 yesterday. Just wanted to catalog the pain and pull it together.

Jae, I'm trying to remember the hand, but I have a dumb question if you don't mind:

On your final hand of the $11 8-max, you shoved AIP from the SB. The BB called with K4os. Was his call correct? (Even with K4os being either way behind or at best hoping for a flip)

Yeah I didn't model it. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to shove my hand (5To) and if he's supposed to call. I was surprised he called that hand and wasn't expecting him to call with that.

I'm extremely tilted after today. I didn't get good sleep (was too excited to play) and started too early. Will be missing the 320. I'm actually going to take a few days off and probably come back to play on Saturday or something.

It seems a bit ridiculous that all of this can happen to me in one day but I don't really want to bellyache so I won't write it all down. It's just really annoying and I don't feel like playing poker for a while so I'll go game for a bit or something. Maybe writing it all down will cheer me up when I look at the -negative results today so I guess I'll do it.

Warning:If you don't like moaning, please ignore this post. I'm just writing it all out to cheer myself up later when I see the negative results for today later. Charting my breakdown here.

215 Bounty Builder: Lose AA for a 50+bb pot on Jd2sTs3d vs QdTd (68% eq)

Hot 33: lose KK vs JJ for 17bb pot (50k) with 58 left

$60 18: Stone bubble in an annoying spot where I shove HJ with 14BB, 4BB CO and 3BB SB fold and BB calls me with KK showers.

Hot 162: Tight regular makes a bad induce with around 15bb with AJo and gets there vs my QQ. Get 36th with 27 paid after losing a 30+bb pot. At this point I'm a bit annoyed but it takes more than that to crack me.

109r: So with 18 left and 9 paid and a huge mincash, I lose AA vs a reg's QQ for a 35+ bb pot. No problem! Few orbits later we cover him again and get in TT vs his 99 and another shorter guy's KK for a 75bb pot. He binks the 9 and scoops. I do suckout on AA with QTs for about 6bb, then lose AJ vs TT and bubble. The rage festers.

55 Deep: Can't find a fold with a really big hand versus a weak regular's tellboxing. Disappointed with myself here, nobody to blame but myself though it was a "cooler." Got 4th.

11 8-Max: Recreational or something wins two huge pots off me, peeling a 3b OOP with A5o and another one And I finish 5th. Was fine with this for sure.

888 Croc: Just lost a standard hand with 99 vs AK. Bustout hand was KJ vs Q8hh for maybe a 20bb pot (70bb), runout was something like Ts8c7h Kh 6h for the backdoor job. First F Word of the day uttered.

Party: Somewhere along the road my Party client crashes and I get blinded down in the 215 KO from like 8k to 6k for a bit. I jam A7o and get it in vs KQ and can't fade a river K. Runouts are definitely bothering me at this point.

215 Turbo: KK vs QQ loses for 80bb pot whee

109 1R1A Turbo: So in these fragile mental state days the way the boards runout really matter. ITM of the 109 1R1A with 15 left I get in AK vs 4c4x and board runs out Ac7c6s 2c Qc and I cuss some more. I haven't posted any of the standard flips or coolers I've won or lost but I have lost a lot of big flips to bust out of things so far, which is fair.

Big 162: 9 players to the money I make a nash shove from lojack with ATo, get in vs BB with AK for a 30bb pot, flop Ts 8s 2d but he turns a Kh and I lose. Get the rest in with TT the very next hand vs AJ, AK, and QQ or something and bubble. More cuss words.

Big 55: Get in AA vs JJ for a 25bb pot with 76 left in the tournament. Do not hold.

109 Turbo: Getting to the middle late stages, 80 left and near the money in the big 109T. Get in AcQc vs A9o for a 40bb pot runout is Tc2h9d Kc 3s. More f bombs.

$100 18: As I'm typing this up I get in QQ vs 89o for the chiplead on the bubble and lose. 18's variance is silly sometimes.

Ok so I just want to flat out apologize for moaning so hard. As you can see by reading, it was a really rough day and I just went back and read all this and cracked a smile at the list of misfortune. So I feel better already

4/11 in the $55 6k, 70/207 in the Hot 44, and 15/31 in the 11R so I'll try to do my best to close these out. Literally as I type this out I lose KK vs ATs for a 40bb pot

Obviously I'm being a mental fish right now and should just regroup. I'll come back hard again. Like I said before I got really lucky in the $500 on Party yesterday and things aren't always going to be peachy. I think my judgment is just impaired because I'm really tired so I'm being kind of dumb. Will be back harder in a few days.

18/28 in the 11R and 4/9 in the 55 6k. And that will close the book on this ugly day.

Heyho,

you are a pretty good player, so why you gonna **** yourself up this bad?

While posting all those Hands, you should learn something of it. (Your title is saying: Be the best ........, so you prob wanna improve)
Why do you even think about those hands?
Why can you remember all those Hands?
Why are those hands are on your mind?
What is your Goal while playing Poker?
Should you change your Goals of winning Hands into something else?

You should don't mind posting such Hands or steam off a bit, its even very good to do so, cause it shows you the areas where you can still improve as a human and a Player
Not expecting you to answer those questions, you can do it for yourself and probably already get my point here.

Best of luck
