206: think you can fold turn without a dimond vs a nit
207: you can call pre, 4b offsuit Ax. his sizing is pretty small so you can peel fairly wide
208: $3

In that hand analysis above Sangalla, I think your problem is that you expect villain (and it seems this is what you would do so something to think about) to raise flop with everything that is a value hand including over pairs and call with speculative hands only.

That seems unrealistic to me for a few reasons.

And that is why your analysis is left with a very weak range on the turn that we can get plenty of folds from (and that is why you believe it to be EV0 or slightly EV+) when in actual fact if he calls some of the hands that you suggested he raises on the flop (I would in fact call almost all of the hands you mentioned being IP) then his range when the turn hits is far too strong for us to barrel against.

If my analysis is then true not only should we not bet the turn (I do not expect villain to even fold TT-77 on the turn btw even though some would) then maybe we should not even bet the flop - but that seems to be a matter for another discussion!!

yeah that's true. And I prefer b/f than x/c the botton of my calling range.

flop play suggestion accepted. Thanks.
if we should not bet this flop, then we should not open 67s from this position

For sure some people don't open 76s from this position.

A good reason not to do so is if you are burning money postflop due to lack of skills.

Another option is to strengthen your BRM and get into these spots and try to find out the best way to play it.

A good reason to open 76s is that it can flop lots of equity and we can put pressure on weak players with that equity, but yeah if we are going to be a nit or a spewtard post flop then don't open it!

There are many flops to have a check/folding range on although I don't think we should check fold here.

I think there are some villains we can cbet the flop against (high fold to cbet and zero fold to cbet) and there are some players who we can check/call or check/raise against (players who stab every flop and give up).

I am not good enough to work all this out yet but I am damn sure that one day I will be!!

Thanks Dz!!

Regarding #208 - You think many NL25 regs are betting this river for me? What range does this?

209: 3b and get it in pre given he has 28bbs, call if he had 100bb. call flop
210: not cbetting flop is fine. bet turn, re-evaluate river if he calls. note he shouldn't have too many Kx in his range
211: pretty annoying spot. without much of a sample on these guys i would go ahead and fold
212: played fine til river, any stats would help on a river decision. looks like a call with the amount of stuff that bricked off and decent pot odds (provided villain is capable)
213: cbetting is fine otf but i prefer checking because of the exact spot you are in on the turn. you can also check flop with some low Axs you open to protect your range since you won't get 3 streets of value from them anyway. as played check turn
214: if sb is a whale you can 3b this pre to isolate him. calling is okay too, definitely don't fold. call turn and re-evaluate rivers as played.

218:i am betting here.. 2overs and BDFD and BDSD.. he folds enough also to the flop cbet

Weekly Progress Update 13.01.2014

Profit/loss for week = + $49.97

Graph for week

Comments:
First up, obviously the sample size is tiny so cannot take anything from these results (at least they are positive though!).

What I always try to measure somehow is my thought process. This is really hard to explain and put into measurable terms but I post a lot of hands and read a lot of other people's hands. When you do this you can get a feeling for how your thought process is improving.

I am starting to find it easier to help people with their hands and also to discuss the concepts involved in mine. Also in the hands I post I am starting to get more replies like "well its close between X and Y", whereas I used to get replies like "why the hell did you bet there!?!?!?". So this is all encouraging and hopefully means I am making the improvements necessary to get better.

It has been a great week regarding hand posting, Skype group, hours played and general progress so very happy all round.

#220: not folding pre vs potential fish. as played turn bet is good and now shovel river and get herocalled by A high soemtimes. sometimes fish will have AJ or QQ or something but I dont think this is near being too thin. hes a fish and draws missed
#221: I dont mind the call pre. if fish was 80bb+ deep this would def be a squeeze but vs ss fish in pot i prefer flatting and playing mw pot ip with good mw hand. bet bigger OTF on this board vs fish. and now b/f turn like 4$. still lot of value from pairs+draws, naked FDs, Tx

Seriously card dead sessions! Was a good mental exercise to try and stay focussed and keep just playing as EV+ as possible. Just one of those where they floated every cbet on dry, called every 3 bet bluff, flopped zero equity and looked down at 92o each hand!! All good practice and standard as it comes.
