In May I want to play 40,000 hands minimum. I was going to aim for 50,000 but there are too many things that can make it difficult (stop loss etc) for me so will set 40k this month and if I do that okay think about going for more in future.
I will play 2 tables of Zoom maximum and keep my same stop loss rules (I basically should never lose more than $20 in a session).
I play around 400 hands per hour doing 2 tables which also includes a 3 or 4 minute break to take my eyes off the pc. I am on pc something like 12+ hours per day on some days!
So my overall thinking is around this...
25 days of 4 hour sessions is 25 x 4 x 400 = 40,000 hands
Of course things can go wrong but also things can go right so hopefully this will be possible!
Oh I should say, one of the main reasons for trying to get more volume is just to get bigger samples to work on to leak find and improve my game. Also it will be good for me to focus on being more efficient at this anyway.
We are going to work hard on improving my BB win rate for the foreseeable future as it is my worst position relative to other regs at my games.
It was like this: November -45evbb/100; December -61evbb/100; January -49evbb/100; February -55evbb/100; March -35evbb/100; April -49evbb/100.
I want to get it consistently at that March level of -35evbb/100 and better!
Day 1
I won $10 straight away with this nice hand...
Built it up a little more but then felt like I was losing a lot of hands and most of my winnings were gone so I dropped down to NLZ5 for a while to steady the ship, win a few dollars and play NLZ10 again.
It was very break even there for a long time but later on in the session won some nice pots to finish up with nice winnings and completed my pre-session target of 1600 hands in almost exactly 4 hours.

40,000 Hands in May - Day 2
Today was much tougher than Day 1.
For the last hour (of four) I was really struggling to focus. I think it was after a tough long day at work which took a lot of eye focus (reading paperwork and pc monitor).
From now I will take a 2 to 3 minute break from my screen every 30 minutes.

I was flying high at NLZ10 then lost a quick buy in via redline rape. This is possibly a sign that I am not playing well so dropped down to NLZ5 (@ 600hands).
Was going well there then had a brain shut down moment (common occurrence btw) and snapped this off...
Wasn't sure whether to bet that flop, feel like check is ok. River was zero thought process and I think I could fold it looking back.
Lost another buy-in just after with this cooler...
Do you think I should isolate the fish preflop or is limp behind and go multiway okay?
My eyes lit up here....
But not for long!

I set my target at 1500+ hands for today.
I train Wing Chun Kung Fu after work and don't get home until 8.00. Then my kids were still out of bed (no school on Thursday due to voting in local election taking place in their school!) so I had 20 minutes with them and lost more time!
Was still determined to get in 1500+...
Again I was going very nicely at NLZ10 but at 400 hand mark received redline rape again, lost a buy-in and dropped down to remain sane!
NLZ5 started very badly with a couple of bad beats but I had already won a flip at NLZ10 so it evens out! In fact better to run 2bi under at 5 and one over at 10 than the other way around!

Hi mate. Well I have a 150000 hand sample overall but when we are looking at how I played BB v SB and BB v BTN for the month or something it is just too small to see much using stats.
Regarding A-game: Yes, I learned a lot about what to expect of myself from this coach actually. It is probably impossible to play my A-game (or B-game tbh) so I work on trying to make the best job of what I have got. This is why I drop to NLZ5 very quickly when I lose a fast buy-in.
Regarding summary of story: Nice summary. I had no intention of ever making it look like I ran bad and that makes me feel bad. This, in truth, is a story of somebody who is not good and is struggling. But hopefully a story of perseverance too.
Regarding full ring: That is a good suggestion imo but I love 6-max and for me that is my biggest motivation so I will stay here.

Not so good today!
I set my target at 1600 hands and had a couple of small interruptions from kids which meant I might have only had 1500 today.
As it was I hit stop loss so had to call it a day early...

So on the flop I am looking back and thinking maybe I should bet to get value from 88+ and 7x but in game my thought was that I can get the money in over 2 streets so check back flop is fine as it is so dry.
On turn I nearly timed out thinking what bet size to do and I think I just mashed the 60% button in the end. I don't know what thought process would be good here. I just thought v 4 players I can bet fairly big.
River I was like "oh hell, I am beat but only need to be good 1 in 5". Trouble is I think I only beat a spazz out.

After work today we took my daughter to cricket practice! She is only 8 but she is sport mad so she has something going on nearly every day!
It meant my session did not start until 21.20hrs and after 3 hours I was really tired and starting to play my Z game so I called it a day.

Days 6 & 7
I managed to get a few hundred extra hands in over the weekend but nothing spectacular.
Too busy having an amazing time with my family to be honest! We went out for the day yesterday and just had a really perfect time together!
Did not have time to put some hands on this morning as was figuring out new way to review BB hands and got confused!
May So Far...
So after 7 days my target would be 9032 hands (7/31x40000) so not too far behind.
Tonight is Wing Chun after work and will do some strength training on arms and shoulders and then crush poker.
My quads are still a little bit sore from last Tuesday's "daughter lifting" but could be good for a workout tomorrow.

Day 8
Well. I got my butt handed to me on a plate last night so I did not hit my target of 1500 hands!
Within 85 hands I knew this was not going to be my day at the tables! Just got bossed around and did not know what I could do (if anything).
Dropped down to NLZ5 to consolidate but it was similar there. I did steady the ship but I could not win a pot and there were just loads of situations where I did not know what to do.
No worries though. These days happen. I know what to work on and work is what I will do. #NEVERQUIT
At least I got to 923 hands before stop loss!!!
It will take some catching up now but I will try my best! No need to panic yet!

Wing Chun was fantastic! We started doing some Countering Kicks work which I think I am going to like a lot! It was way too much information for me last night so I was just like "you throw some and let's see what I do!". Awesome!
Did a good workout too. Push ups and pull ups with good form and controlled and slow.
I am not in real pain this morning but I can definitely feel it in my arms, shoulders and chest. Tomorrow could be another story!
Going for a leg workout tonight. Squats with daughter again and going to try some stiff legged deadlifts maybe using my son as weight!!!!!!

I also support the idea that you're getting better, this confirms the fact that we can improve by learning and it really shows good results, I love learning, I love the idea that if Im showing good WR right now, it HAS to be higher in 2-4 months and so, this is awesome.
Let me just ask you something, why do you prefer zoom? because of so many reasons I prefer regular tables, one good argument is that I believe I can use more information on a player and rely a lot more on my image, however Id like to hear why is your preference for playing zoom instead?

Kinda lol because I was looking at a couple of my stats yesterday (fold v 3b, fold v cb and WTSD) and was kinda obvious why my redline sucks so hard.
Today my blueline sucked big time too!
Kinda struggling atm as feel like I am getting exploited (as well as being crap) but maybe it is some variance too.
I did not get any hands to share today as I spent an hour looking to see what my leaks are and trying to figure out why the hell I fold so much!
I forgot to save pic of month so far graph too (tilted?). Graph above is wrong to $5 (the wrong way) so I am down around $35 this month.
Sad.
Other Stuff
Thank the heavens above for other stuff!!!!
I had a class of Wing Chun Kung Fu which was fantastic! We did more counter kicking work and a bit of straight punch defence. Learned loads and LOVED it!
Also my kids got their certificates for passing their Wing Chun gradings (photos on my Facebook - hit me up!).
After that I did a leg workout. I have not got any good equipment to use so I made my own free weights. Hopefully have a fun video to show you over next few days...

I can only play few hours so I like Zoom for volume but more importantly sometimes my kids will need me if they wake up etc and I have to leave table quickly.
Another thing is that I now am taking breaks every 30 minutes which is easier at Zoom too.
Whenever I play regular tables and try to table select it is just way too much information for me and makes my head hurt. I always hated all that stuff at BPC.

Graph says more than words...
Kinda lol because I was looking at a couple of my stats yesterday (fold v 3b, fold v cb and WTSD) and was kinda obvious why my redline sucks so hard.
Today my blueline sucked big time too!
Kinda struggling atm as feel like I am getting exploited (as well as being crap) but maybe it is some variance too.
I did not get any hands to share today as I spent an hour looking to see what my leaks are and trying to figure out why the hell I fold so much!
I forgot to save pic of month so far graph too (tilted?). Graph above is wrong to $5 (the wrong way) so I am down around $35 this month.
Sad.

Thank the heavens above for other stuff!!!!
I had a class of Wing Chun Kung Fu which was fantastic! We did more counter kicking work and a bit of straight punch defence. Learned loads and LOVED it!
Also my kids got their certificates for passing their Wing Chun gradings (photos on my Facebook - hit me up!).
After that I did a leg workout. I have not got any good equipment to use so I made my own free weights. Hopefully have a fun video to show you over next few days...
Hams, quads and calves are a little bit sore, tomorrow could be worse.

Just to reinforce what i wrote last time, yesterday i started my session dropping 2 stacks right away. Instead of leaving, i kept playing, and ended up 10+bi.
If one cant handle a 2bi loss, its because of mentalgame issues. And should be dealt with, by any means but NOT by quitting early every single time.
Think you have a very healthy ego and seem super nice, hope things start moving forward in a faster pace soon im sure you can do it.
Forget about results, instead focus on quality of play. Its ok to drop 2 BI if its good play..

Was going to stop posting so often as I would get bored reading this ****
BUT. Had a winning day and there ain't been many lately!
Did not play much hours last night as a) I was on duty taking daughter to cricket so started late, b) was knackered as I was up at 5.00 in the morning, b) felt a bit sick (like I might puke), c) wasn't that motivated anyway as confused where the hell I am going pokerwise (note this does not affect my RL happiness).
Yesterday I adjusted some of my preflop ranges as I was folding to 3b too much (tightened some positional opens and loosened some positional calls).
Also I am not 3betting enough again so I just had a look around to see where I am missing out on spots. In position I will 3b more, particularly BU v CO where my 3bet range was way way too tight.
What concerns me is why I am not crushing versus these players!

I did not get in as many hands as I wanted this weekend. I did, however, have a fantastic time with my family, had a great strength workout and won a little bit at the tables. #lolsample
I started at 5nlz as I had so many losing days lately and it was going very nicely so I moved up to 10nlz and got run over immediately (250h on graph).
I dropped back to 5nlz and built back up again and then finished the session off with more 10nlz and got into profit there too.
Was not sure if to value bet river on this hand...
I think fish does not have nuts on flop as they prefer to slow play nuts so I let him carry on by calling. I think he can have worse Ax, 9x, 5x, other pp's and air.
Turn is blank and I am not worried about BDFD so call as I have position too.
River I checked back and I think this is MUBS as the fish will call with his Ax and 9x and 5x is unlikely. So I think I missed a lot of value here.
Please berate thought process.

I did a good upper body strength workout on Saturday after work. It is 48 hours later now and I can feel the soreness in my triceps, biceps and lats. I like this as I know I did some good work if I get sore.
My hams and quads are still a tiny bit sore from last Thursday's leg workout so will give it another day at least before training them again!
Yesterday we spent a couple of hours at Kenilworth Castle which is just by our house. Because we are local residents we get free passes to visit there! Usually it costs around £30 for a family ticket so we are really lucky! The kids love it there as they can run around the old ruins and generally cause mischief!!!
Tonight is Wing Chun Kung Fu class and then 1400 poker hands! Oh and the leftovers from yesterday's fantastic roast dinner that Helen cooked for us!!! Magnifico!!!

AJ I'd start out by cbet flop, we have a good TP and backdoor clubs so I prefer to build the pot early on. People will call with less than TP on this board, and you listed many of those hands so not sure why you are checking this hand As played river is prob lol-exploit fold vs NL10 population.
T9 is perfect, raising accomplishes nothing good for our hand. nh wp
T5s is just gonna be a fold pre 3way, yeah it's good odds but T5s is a really weak hand. I'd draw the line at T8s prob. As played also don't think we should put any more chips into the pot.
