Realistically I am seeing that I am not good enough for this level just yet (all the more reason to keep working hard). I feel like I have some good positive attributes to my game, especially in mind set and attitude but my strategy is weak in some very basic areas.
This has been highlighted by this hand where replies were suggesting that I should call river as I induced on the flop. I certainly did not intend to induce on the flop, so the fact there is that I was too weak tight on the flop and should have made a value bet there. There have been quite a few occasions thinking back where I have been told I should be value betting where I did not.
Luckily bankroll management is one of my (few ) strengths so as soon as I hit $600 I will move down and carry on working my nuts off to get better. You never know, of course, maybe I will get some run good and my knowledge will improve quickly enough to stay at NL25!!!!
Goal 1 - Play 70 Hours Total In September
Played 53.15 which is 76%. Month is 85% old. 6 hours behind. Had some issues last night stopped me playing so much unfortunately. Cannot play tonight either! I am still convinced I can do this, come on man!!!
Goal 2 - Get 2 Reviews In September
Hopefully I have booked a sweat in for this Thursday night. Not quite the same I guess but will be good. The guy who is going to do my review is on holiday at the moment but I can still record it for him. Will do this...
Whoops! Went a little bit over my limit for dropping back down ($600.00) but did not feel need to check results during session. It's fine.
NL25 certainly smacked my butt for me! Of course this is a good thing, it just reinstates how much work needs to be done and keeps everything in perspective. Whenever I see people forced to drop down it is always because they "ran bad" or "hit coolers". Well, it cannot be that all the time eh!? There is no way I am going to blame such things. Bankroll management is there for a reason (to protect your roll!) and I need to drop down immediately. The overriding fact to take from this though is....
You are just not good enough!
Fortunately I know exactly what to do about this. I am going to work EVEN HARDER and be successful, no matter what it takes.

Goal 1 - Play 70 Hours Total In September
Played for 56.4 hours which is 80.6% of target. Month is 88.3% old. Meh! Keep the faith
Goal 2 - Get 2 Reviews In September
One done. I also just sent a lot of hands to a friend for him to review in his HEM. Also I am waiting for another friend to help me out.
A winning session at last!! Won last night (was being sweated so its cheating ) and this morning too.
I played two tables which seemed very strange at first but I really enjoyed trying to be involved in every hand and trying to put the guys on ranges. Also it allowed for being more specific with HUD reads as well as reads from hands. I think this is important for my improvement right now so will carry on with this.
I/we saw some amazing hands back at NL10, some extremely bad play (yeah, worse than me!!!).
I also got a bit more involved in the uNL forums, seems helpful and can see how other people are thinking.
In other news I have one property purchase going through at the moment and am looking at another one too!! Show me the god damn money!!!!!!
Goal 1 - Play 70 Hours Total In September
Played 59.1 hours which is 84.4% of target. Month is 91.7% gone. This is starting to look problematic!!! I have got to go and put new windows in a friend's shop on Sunday. Still, I will give it a shot still, rest assured of that!!
Goal 2 - Get 2 Reviews In September
One review done.
One sweat done.
Consider this as goal completed.
i was in the same boat as you like 2 years ago, now i live in cambodia 28 tabling micro/small stakes rakeback whoring, i thought id be playing hu with isildur by now ;/
but im a slacker who smokes too much.... gl !!!
This is Awesome. I'm actually Cambodian and just got back from there and discovered you can play PS there. How is that going for you and how do you manage to get money on and off the site? Im going to live either back in PP or in Thailand with pops to start playing as a profession soon as well. Just wanted to get some insight on the 'Bodia if you could.

Why don't you PM him amigo, there's a good chance he won't be following this anymore.
Meh graph but on 63.6 hours = 90.8% of target for the month!! Will be close as I have to go and repair some windows for a friend today but I think I can do it so long as I get an hour or so in today and get up at 04.00 tomorrow and play tomorrow evening too.
How many properties do you have? How much time does it take to manage them?
Also I wake up at 1am, when am I going to be a billionaire...
Hi mate. Seven properties rented out (not including my home), one going through with solicitors etc right now, and am looking at another one this week.
It takes a lot of time in the summer as most are rented to a university (and I try to do most of the work on them myself) but on the whole is not too much time. Its more the fact that my "normal" job is around 53 hours a week (wow, that sounds a lot all of a sudden!). I hope to only be there for another two to three years though.
As for the second question, I have no idea!! It would depend if you just "wake up" or if you actually get up and work your butt off!

Ok cool, how much do you plan on expanding? If you spend 53 hours at work it seems like if you didn't do that you could get a few times more. Or does money limit that? (not profitable with loan/mortgage I suppose)
I guess I just wake up... haven't studied poker for a month
Only just stumbled across this now. I seem to do that with a lot of threads.
Very cool thread though, buddy. You have a great mindset, so the results will come eventually. But then you don't need me to tell you that!
GL!
Thanks for that mate! It's still nice to hear support buddy, really appreciate that.

Yeah, well I have not really been able to get any more properties over the recent four years due to credit being in short supply in UK. It is getting easier now though so I really want to get in with another couple before this next boom really kicks in.
I do plan to keep expanding it. I don't think you can go too wrong with property as long as you are prepared for the long term and not short term.
As for your study and poker, you just need to ask WHY you play and then go deep into that WHY (attach real emotion to it). Obviously I don't know enough about you but it sounds like motivation issue on the surface.
Got some good hours in this weekend (considering other stuff going on!) so am looking good for meeting goal 1.
Think I played well too but this morning's session was a bit tough. Value betting hard against fish and them hitting on the river etc but it is small sample and I do realise this is where the money comes from at NL10 so it is cool.
Goal 1 - Play 70 Hours Total In September
Played 69.2 which is 98.9% of target. Month is 98.3% old. Oh yes, you are the man!! I guess something could go wrong but this is nailed. Was in slight doubt three days ago but you can almost always find the time IF YOU REALLY WANT IT!

Ok that makes sense, what's your ROI like?
Will think about the second thing, thanks for the advice. I find it really hard to study anything else during school since I don't even finish studying for school

Not sure how much I want to be "public" about ROI's (please don't take that personally). I make a good rental income each month which was never the intention (I bought houses originally to make capital gains in the long term on the equity). I got a bit lucky on this as my fixed rate mortgages went to a rate of Bank of England base rate +1.95% at the end of the fixed term, and seeing as the base rate is 0.5% and has been for some years I am making quite a lot of unexpected money (I would break even each month if BofE base rate was ~3.5%). I need to reinvest this in order to not pay income tax on it so am buying another house currently with this.
I don't know if you are thinking of getting into property (are you UK based?)? If you are then I would love to answer more questions for you. The thing most people do not grasp about property investment is this... If you invest £20000 in a bank etc you will get compound interest on £20000. If you invest £20000 into a property you will get compound "interest" on £100000 (i.e. the property value). No brainer?
As for your motivation/study feel free to ask me for help on that. And if you ever hear me say something like "finish your studies so you have something to fall back on" then feel free to shoot me!!

I enjoyed this way of motivating my time playing. Much better than measuring hands as I like to multi table sometimes but know I need to play 2-4 tables to work on thought process.
It was tough to complete 70 hours but I am going to do the same next month and add other goals that will make it even harder to achieve!
Goal 2 - Get 2 Reviews In September DONE!! (Definitely doing more of these!!)
Goal 3 - Get Part 2 Of Coaching DONE!! (Need to review this in October)
Goal 4 - Post 3 Hands To Forum Daily DONE!! Of course this was only on days I played. Will keep this in October too but will reduce to two per day. It is good for me but I need to transfer effort into something else similar.
SUMMARY
All goals completed! Well played me! Need to push harder in October.
Ok cool, I'm in Canada, might be looking to get into it sometime. As far as I know it doesn't seem to be very profitable around here unless you actually own the property though, so I'm not sure.
What's your name in skype? (I know I have you, just can't recall your name, sorry)
