I don't play on stars, HHs from bodog just convert to say stars.

Vegas trip is just like my previous trips so far...I'm crushing cash games but not playing nearly enough and getting destroyed at everything else. I've played a few $525 SNG satellites at rio and I keep making $500 HU last longer bets and then losing a flip to the guy I have the last longer bet with. I had like 70% of the chips 3-handed in one of them but lost a flip HU at even stacks with 9k on the line (300 table last longer also). I probably should've tried to chop once the hands were turned over!

I played the 5k 6-max yesteday. As soft as the 3k was, this was the exact opposite. Toughest tourney I've ever played. My table was full of known pros (Mercer, Flack, Marchese, Jaffe, etc) and other guys I didn't recognize but who played well. There were a couple of bad players at the table for like 30 minutes each. The worst player who was at the table all day wasn't terrible, just pretty straightforward and on the passive side.

It was fun playing live against such a tough field. Almost all of my live tourney experience involves playing a bunch of fish, which is obviously more +EV, but this line-up was sort of like I was battling 5-handed at 1knl on 888. Right in my comfort zone.

I built my stack fro 25k to 53k after the first 4 levels, almost exclusively by not folding bluff-catchers and being right a lot. So I had the biggest stack at the table and a healthy amount of respect from the other players; things were going great.

After the first 6.5 levels or so there was really only one hand I thought I could've played differently. I called a 3b btn vs bb with AsJs against Marchese, flop Kh9s7h with about 20bb in the pot and I think a bit under 35bb effective behind. He checked; if we were deeper and/or if I didn't give him more credit than 99% of tourney players, I would've started bluffing. My instinct was to bet 1/4 pot and follow through on lots of turns but I ended up checking down and losing to the bottom of his range (AQo no heart). I was somewhat annoyed by the results of that hand, but I probably would've won the pot against anyone else at the table.

I had a bit under 55k at 250-500 and had everyone at the table covered after the guy on my left busted; then he got replaced by Jaffe who had 70k+ easily. A few hands after he sat I had 98dd in the sb, open limped, he raised to 1500, I re-raised to 6k, he called. Flop AT7ss. I bet 4k, he called. Turn Jc (two flush draws on board). I bet 13k, he tank shoved, I called, he had TT, river T, gg. It was probably the biggest pot in the tourney to that point so I'm surprised it wasn't on pokernews.

It was a cool experience to actually play a tough field live and I'm very happy with how I played overall. Tomorrow I'm going to degen the 1k super turbo which will probably be a bit softer.

Quick update for the rest of the WSOP. I haven't played a ton of poker since my last post but I randomly played the $1500 stud 8b even though I've never really played the game before. I kinda figured out how to play during the day but missed a couple wheel draws to lose all the chips late on day one. But I liked the atmosphere of the tourney and wanted to play more non-NLHE games so I played a couple mix games after that. It was fun playing different games and quickly learning a bunch of stuff; I wish there were more of them running online so I could actually practice and get good.

I played the main and was either lucky or unlucky to finish 758th for a bit over a min-cash depending on how you look at it. I ran pretty poorly overall for the 4 days I played but I won a couple of 57/43 all-ins to survive, one late on day 1 and one early on day 2. Those were like half of the hands I won at showdown in the entire tourney. I'm very happy with my play though, I did everything I could to get chips (including a successful 4b bluff on the bubble), just couldn't really ever get anything going.

I came into day 4 with 203k at 3k-6k (avg prob a bit over 300k) and my table looked pretty soft and I was zoned in so I was hoping for a big day but it fizzled out pretty quickly. I lost a few small/medium pots and then 77 < AQ for the rest of my stack.

I got down to like 9k late on day one and the whole table was commenting on how bad I ran, but then during the beer level my beer arrived at the same time as I won QQ > AK to double up. I got down to 15k again on day 2 at 500-1k and doubled up A4 > KJ and soon after I correctly called off my stack with QJ on KJ558 to double to 64k. I think that was the last pot I won at showdown but I still managed to get to like 280k near the bubble; unfortunately that was my high point.

I'm excited to play more tourneys and can't wait to finally go deep in something! I'm not sure what I'm going to play next though; for now it's back to the NL grind.

Oh yeah, in my last post where I talked about how I ran bad and barely won any hands at showdown, I forgot to mention that I got all in on the turn with T9s vs T9s on Q989 and rivered a straight flush to get to 128k early on day 3 lolz.

I think the guy I won the hand against just finished in like 68th or something...and I also played with Silver and Blumstein who are both healthy stacks now. I guess I suck at table selecting.
