Hi guys
I'm new to the forums. I've decided to start taking poker seriously and I want to use this thread to track my progress as well as hopefully get some input and help from you guys along the way.

A little about me and my poker career so far:

My name is Tom. I'm 27 years old and I live in Vancouver. I started playing online back in 2012 and I played pretty full-time for about a year(I was unemployed at the time). I was playing mostly small stakes mtt's and I had a handful of decent cashes, my biggest being 5k. I had very naive aspirations of making it as a pro but after a year I gave up the dream and went back to regular life stuff - college, job etc...

Fast forward to today and I have barely played at all in the past 4 years. I have a full-time job which I love. It's not 6 figures but I have no intentions of quitting anytime soon so I'm just going to commit whatever free time I have (which isn't much) to poker - playing and learning.

I am completely new to the world of HUDs, stats, heroes and villains, nits/tags/lags. It's all a bit bewildering at the moment. The acronyms are endless and I've realized I have a ton to learn but it's exciting to be diving into it.

I will be playing on pokerstars and 888. I'm going to focus on small stakes 36man, 45man sng's trying to build a bankroll initially. Having dabbled in various formats over the past couple months, these seem to be where I'm having the most success. I'll throw in the odd big mtt cos they are what I enjoy playing the most, and I will try to play the live tournaments in my local casino on the weekends.
I played my first ever live tourney a few weeks ago and finished 7/66
I just downloaded holdem manager 2 so I'm excited to be tracking my play for the first time and really looking forward to making use of this great software once I build up some volume.

Goals:

At the moment I really just want to learn as much as I can and improve my game. That dream of making it as a pro is still present in me somewhere but I'm very happy in my current life situation so it's not something I'm thinking about right now.
First goal is to put in as much volume as I can so I can figure out where I'm at and then I can get more specific.

Side-note: My decision to take poker seriously is related to the direction that every other area of my life is going so it feels very right to be doing this NOW. Could be an interesting topic of discussion for future posts..

WISH ME LUCK!!
