Why not start a new thread and say I am going to play and study poker 10-20 hours a week for a year and then take stock of my situation. In fact, I might do that myself
I will not read books or watch videos. That's not the way im going im to study the game. I will study the timeless facts about the game. Knowledge that will be beneficial no matter what the games are like at the moment.

It's probably been said, but this game is at least 90% recognition. You need to create strong neurological pathways in your brain. The best, and possibly only way to do this is by playing all the time and experiencing all situations. Study helps, but there is no substitute for playing.

haha, someone bump this when OP has spend 15 hours/week for a year (780 hours) "studying" poker intensely and starts off with a "sick downswing" at NL2 - what an incredible waste of time.

I would be open to alternatives like study only for an entire week or even a month, but 10-20 hours a week for a year without ever posting a blind is just ridiculous. Even if you do have some moderate succes after your year of poker enlightenment, you would've still wasted such a sick amount of time NOT playing.

The comparison with football is pretty bad. To get better at football you must practice using your body. In poker you can go very far by studying of the tables. The only thing you can't do is knowing stuff like how the standard regular is playing etc. But that comes back very quickly once you start playing.
allright - in that case i wish you the best of luck

tell us a little bit more about how youre going to study the game?
which stakes you wanna start next year and how you wanna get the roll for?
