I'm in the process now. It's nothing too exciting, but hopefully I'm making the right decision. Part of it is extremely risky, and I'm ok w it. Part of it, is extremely conservative. The 2 combine will wishfully culminate "the pay off".
I'll wait and explain (in a vlog) at the end of the year.

MGM poker room. Four hour session.
Approaching midnight, I'm sitting on $395 (stared with $200) in seat 10 and am getting ready to call it a night. I look down at 8,8 and open to $15. Seat 2, big stack who covers me, makes it $30. Only I call. The flop is A,9,8 rainbow and I check. He bets $25 and I call. The turn is a J. I check and he leads out for $100. I move all-in and he makes the call. River is a blank. I show 8,8 and he turns over A,A.
Thanks for watching.
Not sure where u r in position to the button, but pre I may limp or raise depending on number of players, button, etc. At 1/2 I hv seen a lot of value in set mining even 4 or 5 way to the flop. Iso'ing is fine if u rather play head up, but most of the time it will USUALLY end either 3 ways.
1). U win the limps pre.
2). U cbet flop,, V calls, and then ur usually in a bad spot if didn't flop gd..
3). U cbet, V folds and u win a small one.
I usually take my chances limping w mid pp in ep and set mine. Later position sometimes differently.
Everyone's different and u opening $15 is fine as well. Once V 3bets, pin him down on a range. Depending on how he perceives u and how u perceive him, shd better pinpoint his 3bet range.
I like the check call line. I may hv done that the whole way. Ur hoping only to get paid from AK if u raise the turn. Is he the type that wd 3bet pre w AK? Other than that he has AA, or bluffing w KK-.
Your best hope is he has AK or trying to push his KK/QQ thru. Most of the time, this 3 bet pre from a typical 1/2player will b: QQ+AK. A few times JJ
It's really a cooler spot, and hard to just pot control when u hv a set facing V's 3bet range w A and J on board.
U hv a better read at this V than I, so if u guess V has AK then raise it up, if not, then just continue to check call. U may lose all of it anyhow. ur just gonna hv to pay the man off.
If u do fold, I wd advise not to show the table ur folding a set. It will kill ur action!
