E-mailed Carbon support today requesting rakeback in exchange for my current VIP level (Earth, poop). Exciting stuff! They have Earth as a 12% cash back total according to the admin, jumping to 35% with the rakeback would be wonderful.

How did you know when it started? I figure I'll know when the rakeback window stops saying "VIP cashback."

Weren't lying about the variance in these games. Started current session decent but quickly went downhill. Stuck nearly 14 BI on the day =(

Was also due to poor playing on my behalf. Did catch the primary leaks though, shoving way too wide and calling way too light. I know it's the Supers but your aggression needs to be well-timed and executed. Just thinking out loud.....

The rollercoaster continues! Back on top! Took a quick break, got some Kool-Aid, did some jumping jacks, pet my dog, took a mega piss and sat back down. Since 6-max went god awful, decided to transition to HU. Glad I did. Found mega fish that I have history with and continued to rob him. Luckily he agreed to keep sitting. My literal notes on him are "aggro spew tard, jams wide pre, sit him all day, print $$$). And so I did.

BR: $84 (13 BI jump in an hour). Crazy game

On next to the next sesh we gooooooooo

p.s. Broke my own BR roll bc 1) I am a degenerate, and 2) A hugely +ev opportunity presented itself. I guess I mentioned something about justifying that before..

New Carbon layout is out today. So far, to hell with it. IMO why ever change a good thing? Lost minimode and the grid feature, super disappointed about that. Hopefully make the adjustment quickly.

Not a whole ton of options while I'm at the baby stakes. What is your opinion on the DON's? I'd think they would decrease variance a ton as they are reg speed and, well, double or nothing (lol).
Thanks for posting!

With regard to the 3x3 I guess it depends on what you consider healthy food. I don't consider fat to be nearly as harmful as starch and sugar. Thus a lettuce wrapped 3x3 (protein stle) is going to be much more healthful than a single burger on the bun. .If you have never heard of paleo diet you you may find it interesting. But that is a conversation for another thread.

I play staked because to play the high stakes games I play would require 10s of thousands of dollars online at any one time, which I prefer not to do. With that said I would never play a superturbo without having a 250 buy in bank roll. You can keep 150 or so online as long as you can reload, but I've dumped 150 bis in shorter periods than I care to admit.

And yea I play superturbos everyday. Dons are definitely way lower variance, and require much less of a BR, but they aren't really my thing so I am not the guy to ask WRT specifics.

GL!

Tried mixing in a few DON's yesterday, broke even, bored me nearly to death. My current BR is easily replacable so I will probably stick with it for now, when I get to higher stakes I may adjust the BRM to allow more BI per level.

In other news, just came in 3rd in a Bovada $1500 GTD for $185.25. Woohoooo

Had a massive day yesterday, crushing the HU games atm. Haven't played any 6-max lately because HU is just where the money is at for me. Doubled my initial deposit to $160, which means on to the next level =DDD
For the even bigger news, I came in 4th in a 4k GTD on Bovada last night for exactly $350. Tearing up their MTT's lately.
So as it stands I'm a happy camper!

Carbon BR: $160.11

Bovada BR: $471.73

Small sesh before work today, $14 profit on Carbon and won a satty to a Main Event Semifinal on Bovada, a ticket worth $35. If I finish itm there I play the sattelite directly to the Main Event. Oh wouldn't it be nice?

Yesterday sucked for poker. Dropped a couple MTT buy-in's on Bovada (and some sportsbetting, in which I'm about 0-10 this month), and ran like hell in the Carbon HUSNG's. Carbon roll is now back down to around $160 after I had it up to $220, I guess I forgot to mention that. Oh well, not a ton of motivation to play right this minute, probably seshing when I get home from work.

keep up the work man, motivation is so important! whatever it is that motivates you in poker, keep that around, imo.

you see to be doing fine, and I do agree with LTT777, the more BIs the better. but in the DON's you can go much lower especially if you study/specialize in them. which reminds me, your idea of studying 25% of the time you play is brilliant. studying is so important in improving your overall game, so put that time towards it! GL man i'll be checking back.

Thanks owl,
I have done a fair bit of studying but not sure I've quite met my 25% quota.
I have had some serious swings, back up top and on a good one currently so I am happy. I mixed in the turbos with the super turbos. This will help to lower the variance, which I was looking for with the DON's, only these games actually intrigue me. They seem super beatable so far but they fill very slow and are often sat by winning regs. Careful table selection is huge imo.

BR: $225.07

Sharkscope has me at 4% ROI and my ability at 60/100. The "form" category is labeled Super Hot, meaning 6+ straight wins (small brag for me). =D

One more thing to note, all of my larger winning sessions have been late night. My midday grinding has mostly produced breakeven/losing results. Much to say I have always been a nightowl and I feel most clear-headed at this time, there is definitely a higher percentage of fish amongst the players.

the 6max ST's and the HU ST's fill fast.. I play the $2.10 HUST pretty much only now.. i dabbled in the 6max's but its just to many.. HU is so much more fun! whats your name on Merge?

The super turbos fill quickly, the standard turbos, not as much. 6-max has waay more variance, basically a shove match, coin flip competition. 1k starting stack as opposed to 1500 is really lame also. Unless I am missing something, I find there is much less strategy to the 6-max ST.
I agree, HU is much more fun, considered as poker's truest form! Something I'd ultimately have to agree with.

LMAO some savers are in order I suppose, let me search. As for the graphs, still waiting for the Bovada check that will go directly to buying PT3. Is that what you use for a hud? I used both the 30 day trial for PT and the 30 day trial for HEM and found PT more user-friendly. Definitely computer-illiterate right here. PT3 seemed very straightforward and simple overall. I gotta get on this computer ****. How humiliating is it to ask how you posted those savers? Saved the picture on your comp and directly uploaded here? Technology = My downfall

Quick update, HU SNG = Good, Bovada MTT = Bad!

I've always known that when I'm not clear-headed and in positive spirits, IE when things aren't going good IRL, my game blows. Yesterday I spent the day at ends with my girlfriend and as a result blew over $200 of my $500 Bovada roll. Played probably 10 MTT's with BI ranging from $5 to $40, didn't cash in a single one. So it goes..
Gotta throw the brag in there though, last MTT sesh I played 4 and cashed them all (albeit 3 were small wins), including my first ever PLO tourney. Luckboxed 100%.

The HU SNG grind on Carbon is still going well and looking upwards. Can't say enough about table selection and only playing when it feels right. Gotta listen to myself on the MTT end I suppose.

Things are rekindled today with the girlfriend, hence off to dinner.

Carbon BR: $276.87

Bovada BR: $200 exactly
(pending baseball bet)

I've forgotten that I love HU. WTF have I been doing?

Well, eventually I tired of the "grind," something I tend to do, and after a pretty brutal downswing, deficed to take a shot at 100NL cash, the BBJ tables precisely. Fully intending to lose, I ran better than Usain Bolt and peaked my BR at $1,300! This is a new record for online winnings for myself. This was done over the course of 3 or 4 late-night, after work sessions where I was logging off as the sun was rising.

It felt great to both be playing and winning at that stake. With more on the line, I felt that I genuinely put more effort into it, and connected with a deeper level thinking than my previous play style. Knowing I am fully capable of this type of play brought much confidence to my game. I eventually withdrew $700, using Washington Mutual for the first time.

Upon receiving my withdrawal, I found myself at the local brick and mortar often. Fortunately, the rungood continued here. I freerolled in life for the next couple of weeks (beers galore, a big fat sushi bill for the gf and I, gas, etc.), simply by smashing on the small stake cash games. Live players at small stakes truly are horrendous, and I exploited this fact.

Sitting here now with a cold beer and reading back on some of my threads. This one caught my interest most. I really have forgotten how much I enjoyed HU and am motiviated to return to it. Soon following will be another strategy for crushing these games.

GL rungood gogogogogooooo

Stumbled upon my old record keeping again tonight, thought I'd update as another memento, like the previous post.
The poker grind has slowed to a halt, with the exception of a few drunken trips to the casino with my brother and friends. Both were losing sessions despite the fact I got it in good on each occasion (I remind myself for reassurance). Regardless of the drinks and general vibe of debauchery on these nights, I played well.
One instance of the run-bad goes as follows: Got it in with A10s on a 5-10-10 flop, called by A7 (??? HG LOL) and board runs out I KID YOU NOT the two remaining aces for a chop with aces full of tens.. Get a little fired up reliving it hahaha.
Anyway, the poker took a backseat due to my busy schedule. Re-enrolled in college and have been working mad hours. Even balancing time with the gf has proved to be a challenge. Current hiatus there, haven't spoken in about 5 days. So there's that.
My brother has been pretty into the grind lately, lotta time online and several trips to the casino. This somewhat got my motivation to play again up, so I recently fired up a couple MTT's on Bovada. Made one deep run just short of the money and busted a couple others early. Lost the itch for a solid few months but I feel it slowly creeping back (it's never fully gone). Finding myself registering the tourney's and lurking the forums again.
Til next time......................

Well, it's only been three years since I last posted here. Back in school as a full-time student and working 35 hours a week while maintaining a healthy relationship with the girl. Poker has definitely taken a backseat, but as it is winter break between semesters I have had some time to read up on the forums. Would like to get a small little roll in action again, if time allows.
My general plan was to read through Kill Everybody again (a solid tournament strategy book, and my favorite in my poker book collection), and get something of a SNG grind going. As it is, the month between semesters is flying by (and I'm enjoying it, New Years with the fam out of state, days off with the girl, watching sports with my bro, eating good food), and I haven't reopened the book yet. Am currently reading The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway, and told myself I would finish that before reaching for da pokerz. I'm thinking the best opportunity for putting in some sessions will still be after late work shifts, where I get home at 2am.
More to come, not three years in the making this time.
