Lets get some goals in here

December
1. Run/workout 3x a week - really no excuse to not be doing this
2. No chat at the tables - don't have a huge issue here but do tend to go after people who are trashing others at my tables
3. Play 40 hours - should be doable
4. Make own food more - eat out way too much

Long-term
1. Half-marathon - doesn't need to be in an official race or anything, would just like to prove that I can run 13 miles straight
2. Play in the Colossus (WSOP) - would like to make a trip out to Vegas and play in this tourney just to say I did it. If I run up my roll in this challenge to $5k may treat myself.
3. Get to 200 PLO - Let's do this

Overall graph

WP Ignition/Bovada. Ignition has decided to raise their rake to a max of $4 per pot. Frustrating and honestly not even sure how this will really effect me. I'm breakevenish on the site through about 7k tracked hands. Sent out a tilt email to their support team to which I got the generic "we understand your concern and how changes can be difficult". Just tilted me even more.

So going to weigh my options of either keeping the grind going on Ignition or maybe switching the roll to WPN. May honestly just give up this game all together at this point. Either way will update tonight with HHs and a graph of my tracked Ignition play.

Have essentially moved all my play to Carbon (merge network) at this point and have a minimal amount on Ignition still. Although Carbon does not offer rakeback, I was able to get a deposit bonus that equates to some as well. Am donking the remainder of my Ignition money on tournaments (~$40). Also won a $160 tournament ticket to Carbon's Sunday $40k guaranteed next week as part of some Christmas giveaway!

Will post an overall graph (still only have ~10k hands tracked so I think this is the best way). Will run through my database and post some interesting hands later.

I mean this turn call cannot be good. Think that is a clear fold, was slightly tilted. Almost called river trying to convince myself missed fd/JQ type hand with the odds I was getting. Don't see myself ever being good here though so like the fold OTR as played.

          Re: Smitty's PLO Grind
Lets get some goals in here

          December
          1. Run/workout 3x a week - really no excuse to not be doing this
Started out terrible with this, but have been on a half marathon training program for the past 2 weeks that I've stuck with.Ends up being 5 workouts a week of cardio which I'm somewhat enjoying. Think I can stick with that.
          2. No chat at the tables - don't have a huge issue here but do tend to go after people who are trashing others at my tables
Wrong about the non-huge issue here. Lost my **** a few times in chat against some Bovada donks. Last 2 weeks have been very good on this front though (correlation with running?)
          3. Play 40 hours - should be doable
Sitting at 34 hours, will probably hit 40 and if not no big deal. I'm not a pro and do this for enjoyment and extra cash. Was more just looking to be a tad more productive with my time rather than video games/TV.
          4. Make own food more - eat out way too much
Started poor again, but last 2 weeks have been good (running again????). I've been eating fairly healthy and think I'll keep it up.

Personally, December may have been one of my worst months in my life. Just today found out some news that I pretty much never thought would happen to me that kind of hit hard. That's saying something for the coddled life I've had so far though. Looking forward to 2017 and hopefully increasing the grind as I can. Am also hoping to land a job promotion in 2017 that may kill my poker aspirations, but could lead to some donk shotting the WSOP in 2017 . Long ramble and idk if anyone really follows, but feels good to get it out there. I'm going to sit back grind a bit and sip on some wine (playing lowish stakes plus I'm a rec so don't get on me about the drunk playing ).

Pretty much recapped my 2016 in the previous post. Not in front of my database at the moment, but I think I ended at +$800. I did end up playing a few sessions at 1-2 PLO and ended up 1.5 buyins when that was over.

With 2017 I have gone back to ACR and plan on making that my home.

          January goals:

          1. Keep working out 5x a week. Been doing this consistently for 3 weeks straight and am fairly confident I will keep this up.
          2. Play 10k hands of PLO 50 and do not play higher unless reach $2k. Plan is to take a 5 buyin shot at PLO100 at $2k and move back down when at 30 buyins for PLO 50. Very aggressive brm, but I can redeposit if needed.
          3. Continue to not eat out as much.
          4. Limit alcohol consumption.

          Long-term

          2017 graph so far:

Spike in the beginning were playing in some "soft" PLO 200 games on the Merge network. Been playing PLO50 on ACR again for the majority of the hands in the graph. Happy with my volume so far and will try and put in another 2k hands by the end of the week.

          Some hands

I think at this stack depth this hand might just be a flat from the BB. Flop seems like a check fold is the play. Once checked around and with the AA blockers I decided to just lead turn and get out weak 2 pair hands. Curious if anyone has anything different in mind.

Weird hand, not sure if river should be a call down. Player seemed pretty weak tight so I think a fold seems like the play.

So what has happened since my last post...

          - Have not played a lot of poker, been semi busy with new job, video games (shout out to my Pink Dolphins clan) and been working out 5x a week for 10 weeks now (flex)
          - Busto'd my ACR account playing PLO100 w/ 500 in it (bound to happen)
          - Played live poker and wanted to kill myself after listening to these morons (up a few hundred)
          - Deposited 1,000 on Ignition, played PLO200 (lol brm) with the intention of redepositing when necessary and I'm up about $2k I believe. Have since cashed out $1700ish as I don't like having a lot on US sites.

I'll try and get the graph together of my full year when I get home. Going to be a crazy upswing over the most recent few days as that $2k was won probably over 1k hands or so...hopefully the heater continues .

          February Recap (Part 1)

I didn't put any goals for February, but I think my January goals are pretty much what I wanted to hit in this month as well. Part 2 will follow later tonight and will include my month graph and some hands.

          February (aka Jan) goals:

          1. Keep working out 5x a week. Been doing this consistently for 3 weeks straight and am fairly confident I will keep this up.
Worked out 5x a week for the whole month. Want to keep this going in March. Really got into running, but am going to take this week off with the runs (drunk injury) and focus on lifting.

          2. Play 10k hands of PLO 50 and do not play higher unless reach $2k. Plan is to take a 5 buyin shot at PLO100 at $2k and move back down when at 30 buyins for PLO 50. Very aggressive brm, but I can redeposit if needed.
Been playing PLO 200 solely. Think that is fine as I'm able to redeposit when needed. The games don't seem that much more difficult and with the rake/lack of rakeback I think playing these stakes makes more sense.

          3. Continue to not eat out as much.
          eh whatever, kind of success

          4. Limit alcohol consumption.
          lol

          Long-term
          1. Half-marathon - doesn't need to be in an official race or anything, would just like to prove that I can run 13 miles straight
Made good progress towards this goal. Might take a shot at this on a nice day in March once my ankle heals.

          2. Play in the Colossus (WSOP) - would like to make a trip out to Vegas and play in this tourney just to say I did it. If I run up my roll in this challenge to $5k may treat myself.
Depends if I can get time off work and tbh not sure how motivated I am to even do this...If I have another month like February though I might have to ride the heater into the WSOP.
          3. Get to 200 PLO - Let's do this
New goal should be to win 50 buyins at 200 and then shot take 400 PLO.

I'll post the month graph and some hands when I get home. I think my month ended at +$2.5k, but I only played ~6k hands so need to up the volume.

          February Update (Part 2)

          Results for the month

$2,682 + ~$170 in hands that still need to be downloaded = +~$2,850

Good results, terrible volume which is alright.

          March goals:

          1. Keep working out 3x-5x a week including cardio.
          2. Get some volume in: shoot for 8,000 hands

          Comments appreciated with these hands:

Was so confident this guy had naked AA and had alot of fold equity on turn. Really unsure with my turn bet though, I feel like my range on this board is just way stronger than his. Have to get it in when he shoves I'm assuming though as even against straight I think I have ~40% equity assuming no other draws...

Had tight stats over 30 hands so was putting him on overpair, big rundown type hands. Pre is probably too loose of an open. Once opened though I don't like folding to 3bs in position often (probably a leak). Thought I would deny some equity and shove turn with my 3 pair.

Month going well so far up 2,500.65:

Have been shopping around for some staking deals. Curious on what kind of offers I can get on Ignition if any at all. Main reason would be to move up hopefully quicker than I can on my own roll. If not, no big deal plan on trying to make 10k at PLO200 and then taking some shots at 400. I'm up about 6k so far at 200. Also, bought a run it once Elite membership again. Something I do maybe 1-2 times per year and really try and grind out some studying. Phil Galfond <3

No problem, I'm not the greatest PLO player so take my advice with a grain of salt. Thanks for following and gl with moving up the stakes on Ignition.

I'll give a month end update sometime over the weekend most likely. Been getting pretty swingy, but have put in some decent volume over the past week for me. I want to shoot for 10k hands next month. May not seem like a lot, but I've only been averaging 5k hands each month so far this year so...

Month results were quite swingy near the end. Mix of some run bad in set-ups and did not play my best. Still finished +646 though:

Also, checked out my year to date stats and am up $2,649 over 17.8k hands:

Would like to focus the next month over cutting down on some leaks. Think I'm calling down a little too light in some spots and potentially not being aggressive enough on turns and rivers against nittier opponents. I think my biggest hesitation is it being an anonymous site and just thinking everyone is a calling station. That is definitely not the case and I need to be making more "population" type reads even over a sample of ~20 hands.

Side note, I went on a downswing although slight and expected in PLO I've nearly busted my Ignition account. Having difficulty getting a bitcoin deposit as coinbase will not validate my address linked to my credit card. They say it is an issue with me living on a numbered street and their processor not being able to recognize it . Quite annoyed, but I'm not about to pay a 8% credit card fee deposit. If anyone knows another good bitcoin purchasing site with low fees please let me know.

I also need to get back in the working out mode. I am the streakiest with my health and just need to get back in the habit. I hope to start that in April again.

Another April plan is playing the $350 mini main event at the Hollywood Casino in Columbus at the end of April. I'm excited for this and have actually never played a live poker tournament. Feel free to hit me up if anyone else will be playing in it.

I'll try and grab some interesting hands from the month in the next update as well, but too tired now.

Was able to redeposit $1k on Ignition about a week ago and am currently sitting on $3.5k. I've been playing PLO200 still as my main game as the 1k deposit is not my entire "roll". I feel comfortable dealing with the swings at these stakes given my full time job and reserve money that I'm willing to deposit, just trying to avoid having too much hung-up on an online site in the US. That being said, I think I am going to treat this $3.5k with a reserve of $1k in my bitcoin account (total $4.5k) as my poker "bankroll". I'm going to continue remaining aggressive with it however.

Plan going forward is to continue playing PLO200 and take a 4 buyin shot at PLO400 once at 8k or move down to PLO100 at 2k. If I busto my account at 100 then I will probably give up the dream.

For those who follow Ignition, they recently changed their cash game structure so that you pick the game/stakes and they autosit you at a table. I'm in the minority here, but I kind of like it for now. Was able to get 4 full tables at PLO200 way quicker than I ever have before. I'm sure it will be more annoying as/if I move up in stakes. With this change and the increased rake by them earlier in the year I'm not sure how Ignition will hold-up. I don't really have any other options online (WPN is so nitty I can't handle it) so hopefully the "dream" is not completely over.

I'll give a month-end update soon including my live results to date. I dropped ~$400 at the casino last time I played and am done playing live PLO atm. Had a guy crumple up 100s and chuck them at the dealer and he didn't get tossed. I should've immediately called floor on him and am disappointed I just let that slide so easily. To make matters worse I dusted off my last $200 to him. I am playing the $350 mini main in Columbus next weekend though which I am pumped for. I've never played a live tourney before so why not start with a $350 buyin .

Sad sad sad times. Online poker is done for me for the time being with the exception of maybe a random donkament and fun on global poker (new site). Figured I'd give a quick wrap-up of my year-to-date results.

          Live:
          Cash: -660
          Tournaments:-350

          Online
Cash:~$3.5k (waiting to download some hands)
Tournaments: -$400? (not positive as I don't track tournies as well as I should, but this is close)

          Total:$2,090

All in all I'm happy with my results. I was playing the best PLO I've ever played and mostly just struggled getting volume in due to other life commitments. For now I am done with poker though, just not worth it with the state of online games and live poker is just not fun to me.
