This is really true. A month ago, when I wasn't yet playing to pay rent, even at 400nl I could get thrashed for 4-5 buyins of coolers and just shrug it off and acknowledge that it's just how it goes sometimes. I'm working on maintaining that same mentality now, even though the pressure is higher.

And yeah, at this point 100nl feels like play money. So much less stressful, because of the lower stakes but also because people just don't know how to bluff well until 200nl.

I find it amusing that at this level there are people who like to punt it off with bottom two and top pair lil kicker.

2,7k cash. If I think how many hands I have to beat in order to win this sum at a tournament vs cash. Makes me sick

I profited more in this one hand (within my first 100 hands at the stake) at 500nl than I profited in 18k hands at 100nl.

I swear sometimes the higher you go the softer it gets. Besides the competent regs of course.

Judging by this batch of hands I think you might consider making some more explofolds on Ignition.

H1 is just a terrible call, I don't care what his stats are, there's no way you have enough of a sample on him to say that he turns a pair into a bluff at a high enough freq to justify this. His turn defense range is like all pair+gutters, he doesn't have to defend something like K8 ott which would then bluff otr.

H2 yes you can fold river, in that exact spot the likelihoods of him bluffing or vbetting worse otr are just soooooo low.

H3 it's a pretty clear fold ott when you get xr MW and then jammed on on this turn card, did you run an equity calc against AT, sets, some 76s, some A2s, and some combo draws? It depends partly on the weights you give (obv) but when you're behind here you're basically drawing dead and when you're ahead you're like 60% at best.

Congrats on good day .

H1 was against a villian who I had played 100+ hands with. He was playing any 2, extremely aggressively (80/20, 88% WWSF). He's turning every missed flush into a river bluff. (even 62s). That being said, it's close.

H2 was against a fish who was definitely capable of min raising 2pair for value there.

H3 is a clear call. I have to call down some overpairs here or else I can be bluffed way too easily. JJ with no spade makes sense as one of my call downs. If I'm folding JJ w/o spade, what am I calling with? Just sets? Haven't ran the equity yet, but I'm almost certain I have enough equity to call turn.

Appreciate the reply!

This is exactly the thinking to try to get away from when playing on Ignition. You don't "have to" do anything on an anonymous site where people can't exploit your tendencies in the future. All you have to ask yourself is what your average equity is against the pool of players in that spot. Whether you're good enough to call there is a separate discussion, but the reasoning shouldn't be that if you don't do X, you're exploitable, thus you should do X.

I just ran the equity and if I give him a range of 44, 55, 76s, A10s, plus all the flush draws in his BB defending range/combo draws/top pair+fd I have 50.48% equity. I needed around 33%. Even when I have a more conservative bluff range of just nut flush draws, straight+flush draws, and top pair + FD I have around 42%.

Just because Ignition is anonymous doesn't mean we shouldn't be playing balanced. Sure, I make exploitative read-based plays when I get the opportunity, but I also have a strategy that I can follow without any reads - and I definitely do take into account the tendencies of the player pool as much as I can

Well, Vegas was kind of disappointing. Took 3 shots at getting into the Main. Busted the first one on my 3rd hand. KK vs AA AIPF. Busted the second one with a 14BB shove from the cutoff with K10s and ran into QQ (didn't like this one, I think I can still 2.2x raise with 14bb). And the last one I 3bet shoved 15bb with AQs, A9o snap called and flipped it over like it's the nuts, which is what it ended up being.

Cash games in Vegas are tighter than I've ever played before (except for my last trip, but I didn't play much). Tried the Wynn, Rio, and Bellagio. Table changed a few times, but I just couldn't get a halfway decent 2/5 table. The whole trip made me realize how much more I enjoy online poker. I had never been to the WSOP before, so I didn't know how poorly ran everything is. 2 hour+ waits to get a tournament ticket are ridiculous, and cash games should not be restricted to certain rewards card members.

This week's results so far (almost all $1/$2):

This week has been really swingy, but overall good. I made a few light call downs that I didn't like, and one or two folds that I wish I could take back, but overall I feel like my game is steadily improving.

This week I made a switch to a 1/3 flop bet sizing on most board textures and I really like the results so far. I get close to the same # of folds while keeping V's range wider on the turn. Plus it induces all kinds of idiotic play.

Would've liked to make deeper runs in the tournaments I cashed in, but I feel dumb anytime I complain about MTT variance

I use DriveHud, so I don't have any cool graphs, unfortunately. But I can post my results so far this month. Having a sick run at 2/5. I typically three table 1/2 with one 2/5 table, besides the week I played 100nl because I had been running bad. In hindsight, I think the strategy of moving down worked
