I'll be running my other business as well, but hopefully through the second half of this year I will begin moving up the limits back to a decent low/mid stakes type grind maybe 4-5 days a week.

I will likely shoot for 30 games tomorrow and Thursday and then I'm off until Sunday.

Made one final table in a $4.50 today and lost a flip to bust in 5th, but felt good to play solidly and feel mostly focused after such a long break.

Will try to post more regularly, still checking in on some of the heroes blogs tho even when I've been away... GL to all you guys on the grind!

Thank you, sir! Welcome!

----

Got in another 30 games yesterday with 7 cashes and all my deep runs being screwed over by AK < Ax all-in pre except the last one in the 6max $7.50 TPKO in which I 4bet jammed a guy with 99 and walked into KK, but it was a poor play on my part. I should have flatted his 3bet and played post flop given the stack depth, but I am not used to grinding these days and definitely my stamina is an issue. Trying to win the tourney with one pot instead of staying patient, it will get better though as I play more hours.

Will play an afternoon/evening session today as the GF is working until 11 PM tonight and then tomorrow I will get up around 4 AM and grind the early morning session as I have plans from tomorrow night until Sunday when I'll be back for a week of grinding leading up to the Main Event and August.

Been a crazy year... just not been able to get the volume in I was planning. I think I am finally settled in, finances sorted out, business running and ready to get a steady grind going I hope. Gonna play my first real session on Sunday and likely smash everyday until Thursday to get a kickoff right. I'm starting with $2K and will likely fire around an $8 avg with about twelve $4.50s included daily and maybe a few $2.50s at the end of the session to keep my table count up through my later buy-ins each day.

For this week and maybe right through until the end of whatever is planned for WCOOP at my buy-in level, I will try to post either the night of or the morning after each session to get some action going on in this thread and then likely I'll settle into a once per week review post type situation and try to grind steady until the end of the year and then see where poker fits going forward...

mmmmk... see you guys on Sunday! GL peeps!

Played a small session yesterday of mostly bricks. Wasn't really prepared for a grind after a concert the night before. Decided to take the evening off and meal prep some excellent grind meals like pasta and sandwiches for lunch and chicken/pork with steamed veggies for dinner, so I am ready for 4 straight long grinds this week before taking the weekend off for some fun with the GF.

Day 1

Starting Bankroll: $2000.00
Ending Bankroll: $1890.66
Profit/Loss: $109.34
Games: 46
evBB/100 (Cumulative): 11.39

Notable Results/Notes
I had a good first day with lots of nice stacks and many, many horrible beats including some solid 1 and 2 outers for key pots, the most important of which was for a Top 3 stack in the Hot $11 with 22 to go, KK < JJ.

I made a $4.50 final table and laddered to 4th despite being mostly card dead. Was pleased with my grind and my meal prep and look forward to three more good grinds in a row. It's frustrating getting so close with a nice number up top and losing hands like that, mostly because I don't put enough volume in usually to get enough chances to overcome that variance and enjoy the success of a bigger final table/score, so I am pumped to know that if I keep playing like I did today and grinding out good volume, those scores will come more frequently in time.

Anyway, tomorrow will be a noon-ish start time after some "regular work" in the morning. Something good is gonna happen this week I think, I feel it.

Put in two sessions the last two days for a total of 35 games, yesterday was cut short at 10 due to some family **** that came up and I was running pretty terrible anyway to start, so I wasn't too upset about stopping early.

I quite enjoy playing the evening session, the tourneys are great and field sizes more manageable and I made a couple deep runs on Tuesday that unfortunately all fizzled out with gross beats in the final 50 for a small losing day overall.

Anyway, I will be back on the grind today for a long one as I'm off tomorrow and Saturday, so hopefully we can get the month back in the right direction.

Not sure if I will keep posting in this thread, not sure if I really need it and it doesn't get a lot of action when I do (mostly because I end up taking huge breaks from posting and playing and all my deep runs fizzle so it doesn't get much excitement)... so anyway, I may just let this one die. We'll see.

Think your handchoice for 3b pre is not terrible at this stackdepth but imo make it a bit bigger because we really don't wanna get flatted if we're using hands with pure blocker value (that flop rly bad) as our 3b bluffs. Not sure, what I am doing about WCOOP yet beyond obviously firing the $11 events on my own dime. I have a package available at PokerVIP and PokerMarket (same package, just two locations, updating each as one side sells a piece) for the 27s and 55s but not sure if it will sell out or not and if it doesn't, not sure how much risk I want to take, but the schedule looks so good, so I'm tempted to abandon bankroll strategy for the month and just fire all the 11s-55s regardless of how much action I can sell and take a shot.

Either way, this week will be a standard grind Sunday to Thursday of $2.20-$11 MTTs and $4.50 SNGs, hopefully I'll have a nice week to make taking a shot next month at keeping a lower table count and focusing on the $11-$55 range more reasonable. But we'll play it by ear...

GL today heroes!
satellite84's 2k17 Grind in Thailand Quote

My package managed to sell out, so I will be firing all 11s on my own dime plus all 27s and 55s at a 50/50 split (NLHE only). I intend to keep my table count down to 6 tables or less throughout the series, only firing the BIGS, HOTS, BOUNTY BUILDERS, MINIS, and a few of the best non-badged tourneys around my WCOOP events each day. After the series ends I will take a few days off until Oct. 1 and then begin a 3 month grind to the end of the year attempting to get proper volume in of say 600 MTTs per month at whatever limits make sense for my bankroll at that time.

So as I am playing WCOOP-L only (I may play some sats to the 109s/215s as well), I am going to take today off, meal prep, go for a hike with the GF, eat some sweet ribs for dinner and rest up for tomorrow's 10 AM start.

So I had some issues with my package and it didn't sell out as hoped after all, so I have had to readjust and skip yesterday unfortunately, but I have ultimately come up with a solid schedule and will be putting in some nice volume around a lot of events and satellites beginning this afternoon... a little late to the party, but glad to be here either way!

Played the $55 and $27 last night for my first events, busted the $55 and min-cashed the $27. Got a little too aggro on the bubble and crippled my stack, limping into the money.

Anyway today will see a more proper grind begin that will last through the Series.

Update

So WCOOP is over and I barely played. My package got screwed up and so I abandoned it and to be honest, money got quite tight as the business my GF and I are running is a bit of a sinkhole at the moment while it goes through it's growing pains and we have a fairly high monthly nut.

I need to get poker going again, as I could really use a steady income, but I've never really done a stake and I don't imagine anyone would want to take me on based on my history/stats at the moment, so I am going to have to grind it up myself from the low limits through hefty volume and consistent grinding.

The Plan

I am going to start with a sum I can afford without worrying about cashing out immediately (this has been a problem, I know I can beat higher limits and so I use a short bankroll to play them, I win a little, but not enough and end up cashing out or busting).

My initial roll will be $400 and I will be firing basically all regular speed MTTs and Hots up to $7.50 as well as every regular speed $4.50 SNG that fires between 10 AM and 6 PM ET. At 6 PM, I will look to maintain 6 tables until all of my regular speed events are finished for the day by firing $2.50 Turbo SNGs. I realize this will likely only give me 125-150 buy-ins, but given I don't need to cashout immediately and the level of play, I think it will be fine for building a roll. If we start off very poorly and drop quickly in the first few weeks, I may consider a reduction in those buy-ins across the board.

I may play a practice session tomorrow if I have time, but the real grind will start on October 1.

Some Goals

[ ] Play at least 20 days in October
[ ] Play at least 700 games in October
[ ] evBB of 7.5 or higher
[ ] Find a healthy diet plan to fit with my schedule
[ ] Use this PG&C to keep focused and clear my head when I inevitably get bored or drained at these limits
[ ] Remember the long term goal of getting to midstakes and the beautiful afternoon/evening grind I wish I was playing

Thanks for reading, GL to the heroes... congrats to all the 2p2 grinders who had some excellent success this month, see you hopefully for SCOOP next year with a proper roll and lots of grinding behind me!

Peace

Haha, I know... though I've never been a huge tilt monkey luckily, just lazy to grind through the limits when I've done it so many times already only to get sidetracked for one reason or another.

But needing the money is why I picked a smaller number this time, something I could just let build. I guess I didn't word that initial post as well as I meant. I've been trying to load slightly larger sums each time and needing the profits, so unless I grabbed a bigger bink I would find myself cashing out and not being able to handle any downswing.

This time, I won't be doing that, I will start smaller, grind through the lower stakes and let my business handle my half of the monthly expenses. This way poker scores can just build on themselves and I can remain fluid in my BRM based solely on poker and not outside influences.

Fingers crossed we can run it up one last time and then just print at the midstakes until whatever comes next in life...

Day 1

Starting Roll: $400
SNGs Played: 15 (All reg speed, this will change today)
MTTs PLayed: 20
Profit/Loss: +$196
Ending Roll: $596

So got my first session in and we booked a nice winning day to kick things off. Made 3 final tables out of 15 $4.50 180 mans and of course finished 4th and 7th in the two where I played super well and had gone in with the chip lead or 2nd in chips, but win the one where I was all-in behind twice with 12 to go and managed to get there both times. Silly game sometimes. Either way, I'll take it. My overall evBB was not great as I won a fair few big BB pots early in my tourneys that were flip type hands with big pairs or AKs, so I'm gonna hold off posting those types of graphs for at least a weekly, maybe even monthly type update just so the sample size has some actual meaning.

So I am making some adjustments to my grind. I have no interest in continuing in to slog away at massive field tourneys for small-ish scores in stuff like the Big $1.10 and Bounty Builder $2.20. So the bankroll stands at around $600 now, I intend to play every $4.50 I can like I did today, I imagine it will be roughly 12/day on average. I also intend to play the MTTs from the Big $7.50 through until the $11 8max (playing from $4.40 to $11 including Hots but no other turbos). That will likely get me another 12-14 games per day. Then I will use the $2.50 Turbo 180s to fill out my schedule for the first 90 minutes of my session and then again after my last regular speed buy-in to keep 6-8 tables going until my regular speed events are done at which point I will let the turbos finish. I expect that I should end up getting another 15-20 of these events in each day to bring my ABI down and my volume up as well as overall keep my swings from getting too brutal the way playing half my volume in 5000+man fields was going to do.

So anyway... Day 2 starts at noon today.

GL heroes, thanks for reading.

Excellent! Thanks for the encouragement, appreciated.

My GF has been off the past four days (including today) before back to work for 5 days on again. So we had a date day yesterday where we went for a hike in the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park (definitely a nice spot, will go back and explore again next week as it's huge) and then saw Kingsman 2, which was solidly entertaining if not as good as the first one.

Today we're getting a lot of work done for our home business, so I'm not sure if a session will get played today or not. I was hoping to build on my first session, but I did some study yesterday and will likely do another hour today and then just keep my poker schedule in line with her work schedule, so that means 5 straight grinds after today to really get the month off to a strong start.

Fired off 10 tourneys today (made one final table in a Turbo 180 for a 7th place finish 66 <A4s all-in pre, shrug), then packed it in once I saw the switch to On-Demand SNGs. Wanted to watch the tourneys and see how they fired and the pay tables and so forth before deciding what my grind should look like.

They seem to be going off well and hitting a consistent 100+ and semi regular 130+ runners, so they pay a decent $130-$150ish and given they are regular speed, they will be far less variance than the Turbos. So I will likely just fire them exclusively tomorrow thru Sunday along with my MTT schedule and keep 10 tables running from 10 AM until 4 PM and then just let things finish when they finish from there.

the short run.

Day 2

Starting Roll: $596
SNGs Played: 15
MTTs Played: 5
Profit/Loss: +$45
Ending Roll: $641

I ended up firing another 10 SNGs of the On Demand variety just to see how I liked them. I think beginning tomorrow given their rapid increase in volume, I may just stick with them almost exclusively for a month or two and see about grinding up a decent size roll to switch to my planned 15-18 ABI session in the afternoon/evening for 2018. I think they should still be beatable for 30 to 40% for me even without a heater of any kind, and given my preference to start with a smaller roll they avoid significant risk of ruin in the short run. So I may be getting in a bit more volume than originally planned as I will likely up my table count starting tomorrow and just play maybe 8-12 MTTs a day with 30-50 of the On Demands if they continue to fire off as they did today.

But we'll keep it fluid... either way it's a second positive day and another outright win to keep some momentum.

Starting Roll: $641
SNGs Played: 19

Profit/Loss: +$20
Ending Roll: $661

Only got a half session in today due to some work stuff, but it was a small profit, lost flips of JJ < AQo and 66 < AKo for my bust outs on my last two tourneys to come 4th and 5th despite having good shots at much more.

Think I will need to add back some MTTs just to keep me interested as straight SNG grinding isn't really for me. Probably something like 10 MTTs and 25-30 SNGs per session should be fine.

Anyway, will be putting in a longer session tomorrow.

General Review

So... not the best start to my grind by any controllable measure and even by profit measures, although we did move the bankroll up, we definitely took a substantial hit going 1 for 24 yesterday with only a min cash (of course, yesterday was also easily our first really good evBB/100 day comparatively).

But, that's OK, I knew this was going to be a bit mind numbing and difficult to get going, but hopefully the second week will be better, I chose 700 games because I thought it might be a bit slow going to get started and I was hoping to hit 200 games/week. So this way I am still on target to hit that goal as I basically did 100 in the first week, so 200/week for the last 3 will get me there with no extra effort than I already planned to put in.

I'm still stuck between if I should be firing all the MTTs between 2.20 and 7.50 along side the SNGs or if I should just fire SNGs only (I struggle with this a lot as I really hate playing the exact same tourney over and over again with the same smallish prize at the top, but I am committed to trying get through the stakes in whatever way is most logical, so trying to determine what that means).

Anyway, will likely fire both MTTs and SNGs since it's Sunday Funday and then take tomorrow off for Thanksgiving and try to settle on a final plan for Tuesday onward.
