After watching Hiro Dreams of sushi I feel compelled to set up a shot taking routine. I know that the best games are going to be Friday and Saturday nights,so I feel like I should playing bigger games that night. I would like to try this schedule out; after playing 40 hours of 2/5 or below a week I will allow myself to play a bigger game once or twice a week. I think this will help me make a gradual transition to higher stakes while still being responsible with my bankroll. It is also a way to incentivize my volume during the week

Good job on the discipline so far this year. The monetary results will come if you continue to put in good volume and work diligently on improving your poker game away from the felt.

It's Wednesday which means I have four days of fun poker ahead. I am going to shoot for ten hour days with four fifteen minute breaks, so a little more than eleven hours spent at the casino. If I can get to the casino by 2pm then I will be able to leave at a decent hour. If I stick to this pretty closely I will even be able to ignore the weekend strip club impulse.

Made about 200bbs worth of mistakes with a poor bluff and some donkey calls. That's about 70hrs worth of EV. Yuck. I tilt too much

Cut the fat

Its time to lean up my poker game and get rid of these bad habits. Here is what I am going to try and work on

Spoiler:
1. Taking my time and value betting the river properly

Spoiler:
2. Not getting into aggressive wars with regs and giving them my chips

Spoiler:
3. Folding pre flop instead of getting into marginal spots with good players

I did some budgeting and here is what I came up with

$700 Rent and Electricity
$500 groceries
$300 Car Insurance
$200 cell phone
$200 gas
$75 internet

This is the bare minimum for me to live well. It comes out to $2k a month. This is before any expensive habits like going out, strippers, drinking, food, shopping or taking trips. It is likely that these cash habits are what is killing me. Its like the money I win just slides between my fingers back into the sewers and underworld of sin city.

If my minimum is $2k a month just to live, with probably another $2k in leisurely spending each month, I need to play 120 hours a month just to meet my regular bills. If I include a 25% tax, my hourly is closer to $22 than $30, bringing my required volume up to 181 hours a month. This simple exercise is really showing me how important it is to have high volume months in addition to as high a win rate as possible.

6.5 hrs of 2/5 (-150)

no money on food or massages

went to the gym twice this week although I skipped a day. doing bench 115x10x4, lateral pull 100x10x4 and barbells 20x10x4

I'm not able to finish the last few reps on the bench but am working on it. I try to workout really quickly and don't take longer than 30minutes most days. I keep my heart rate high and aim for an intense workout. I started making funny noises today when I was struggling. hard not to laugh at oneself

My friend told me to focus on playing shorter sessions but pay more attention. I don't know if I am going to be putting in tons of hours like I planned, but maybe

Yo bro, good luck to you in April and the rest of the year. I'm subbed now. I'm playing $2/5 in S. Fl. I got a thread on here also... I'll pop in every now and then and see how you're doing. All the best bro

It looks like I have ONLY played 152 hours since April, which means I'm at least 400 hours behind acceptable monthly volume. I've been playing less, playing worse, and losing more. I still haven't recovered yet mentally or financially and it is wearing on my more than I was prepared for.

I hope to have a good week with some great hands and solid results, then I may start posting again.

I thought that Mark Morrison song I posted chased you out of this thread when in fact it caused you to play poorly which caused you to avoid this thread. Play better!

Thread failed this year, and I failed this year too.

Maybe I can save the end of it with some good volume and hard work.

Thank you for the kind words. I have a money management leak! It is not to be romanticized. However , recognizing it's a problem is a good first step and it's not as if financial management is everyone's strong point; we all make mistakes.
