Are you strictly playing poker for all of your income? Ever give thought to investing into stocks or do you feel your return is greater from poker?

No I'm not. This month i'm putting about 20% of my roll into vanguard, looking for something with a low expense ratio. If I remember from last time I checked their mid cap etf looks pretty sexy. I'd rather have a more targeted investment than just s&p 500 etc

For other income, hopefully I'll have my first property by 2019 although I haven't given the timing of that too much thought. I also have some passive income thru affiliates although it's pretty small.

The bulk of my income for the next three years will come from poker but not all of it.

Last few days I've had a good btc sweat as well as a few losing sessions. I ended up dropping 3 buyins or so and upswinging that same amount on my bitcoin so my networth hasn't changed but my challenge is at 68/80 buyins. My money has moved around a lot making me much less susceptible risk-wise to poker sites closing without paying. Now the majority of my money is in bank/coinbase/cash which feels much less stressful. This kind of stress is the long term back-of-your-mind stress that you don't think about or feel but is slightly weighing you down. I feel more secure in life. That's valuable to me.

well well well what an evening. At 78/80 buyins. Yep! That was quick, wasn't it. Today snuck up on me, each session was only +2 or +3bi but they added up for a nice little ~10 buyin day. It looks like I'll have to be busting out the x/140 buyin stretch goal soon enough.

I had a ton of fun playing live with these guys. Definitely a good group, we all got really drunk and played some ridiculous dealers choice with 5 and 6 card variants that were playing 2/5 w/ 25 on the button. I lost $1600 across both games which was tiny compared to what the swings in these games should be. I'm going to be hardly playing for the next ten days or so, I have to write my thesis.
I had a huge punt in 2/5 blind mans bluff where I ended up 3bet-calling a 4bet and donk jamming 2x pot on a KJ9r flop vs offsuit ten rag showing for villain. Turns out I had 6 high and he called off naturally. I should have paid more attention to the player after me tanking a little after I 3bet the UTG opener (eventual 4bettor) which means my hole cards are a weaker distribution. Could have saved $1200 but so it goes. It was all good fun

Played not so great and had a small losing session yesterday then brought it back today with two solid sessions to be at 79/80 buyins, including my live losses. I've been using the conversion as $500:1buyin to make keeping track simple.

Looking forward, I'm trying to hit the stretch goal of 140 buyins by mid February. That would make me very well situated for my move abroad. I'll also likely be playing about 10-20% of my volume bigger live during Jan & Feb but I'll be sticking to the same $500/buyin metric for keeping track of my progress.

I'm hyped! Now for Thanksgiving & thesis.
Tomorrow I'm meeting up with one of my childhood best friends that I've been out of contact with for the last five years or so, I'm looking forward to it very much.

UTG probably isnt opening if the sb/bb are nutted. So you are capped before you 3bet.

Still chugging out my thesis, less than two weeks left of school forever. Crazy feeling.

I've got a term paper, two finals, four books to read for my thesis and the rest of my thesis to pound out.. and then I never have to do schoolwork again!! I'll drink to that.

I'm leaning towards moving for stars earlier rather than later after talking to a friend about it.

I booked a trip next week to go see a friend at another school before I leave the east coast so that'll be nice to look forward to.
My final today went smoothly, not worried about it. I've got to finish up my thesis either by next Monday or next Thursday and then the last final is next Friday and I'm all done with school.
I spoke with one of my professors today about my last term paper and we agreed on changing the subject to something much simpler that I'll be able to write quickly so that's also a nice load off my shoulders.

I've hardly played any poker, basically logged on, lost a few buyins or had connection issues with ignition, logged off two or three times. I'll do some accounting the weekend of the 16th after my last final and figure out where I'm at and where I'm trying to get to.

I feel so relieved, there's an acute pressure I've had in my front forehead that is lessening as I complete each task. I'm really looking forward to how I'll feel after I'm all done. Hopefully all of the pressure goes away.

This thread will be revived with poker updates soon.
Also I've been thinking.. I don't think I want my screenname to be the same on stars as this blog so while BERRI SOUR is cute and all I'll pick something else.

Short and sweet, I turned in my thesis today which marks the conclusion of my college education. I'll be taking a day or two off and then going back to duking it out.
I'm at it full time now

thanks ratio.

So my first three days have definitely been trying. I'm down 23 buyins or so playing in great lineups. So it goes. Tomorrow is going to be a big day, hopefully bring it back in some soft games. If I drop another 25 i'll cut tables but that should be very improbable.

I'm here to stay, don't worry.

I ended up stuck 28 buyins or so online and hopped into some live NL games to get a change of pace. I'm up an equivalent of 8 buyins and change there. An ex of mine reached out so I'm going to go visit in LA for the new years, maybe get a little reset mentally. If I feel good and we need some space while I'm staying there i'll play some 5/5 plo at the commerce.

God damnit, I wrote up a whole blog post and before I posted it my computer blue-screen-of-deathed. Well that's annoying.

Long story short I'm in LA, really enjoying life after graduation without obligations.
Poker is going really well, I feel like i'm gliding and putting in lots of A game hours.
I booked my ticket to London for the end of January and will be playing a lot of live NL and some PLO until then.

I'm down roughly 14k online and up 7k live since I graduated. I am confident that I will continue to play well this next month and should have a solid first month as a full-time pro. The games I'm playing in are just too soft.

No depression, poker feels like it is gliding, dating and friends are helping round out my life, I'm keeping up with routinely practicing my instrument, and it's great to see family for a month after finishing up school. Life is 10/10 right now. This is the kind of life situation I need to remember and strive for.

Oh also I bumped into Gazzy at Commerce today, he's a lot taller than I expected and seems like a nice fellow. Maybe I'll see him playing more before I leave or after I arrive in London.

Thx passion.

Here's one steve that's a little unusual:
5/5 plo with 10 rock, rock in SB, BB (3.3k) limps folds to me in HJ I (2.2k) limp T885ds CO limps (2k) btn (3k) pots BB calls I call CO calls
Flop (250) Kd8d6o I have bdfd BB leads for 230 I call CO folds Btn calls
Turn (940) Ad BB checks I 250 btn folds BB folds.

Live is flowing well. Up another 3.5 since last update. Tonight's my last night in LA don't really know what I'm going to do. Living situation is weird, my ex doesn't want to do much. I may leave tonight or go home tomorrow idk. I'd be down to spend a night in Santa Cruz on my way back. Anyway I won a decent chunk in really soft live plo games but will be going back for some deep NL for next month till I'm out.
