Hello, my names Freddie have been lurking around these forums for a while reading up and learning but haven't really posted much. I have just made a massive decision in my life to just jet off out of the UK and travel.

A bit about me:
I am a 20 year old who has lived in the UK (central London) all my life, I left college with good enough grades to get into 4 universities but declined all the offers from City, Kings, Surrey and Middlesex. I haven't really ever felt that strongly about education and felt that it wasn't necessary for me to progress in life anything I want to learn, I can learn myself without the need of a test or person telling me that I have "passed" all you need in this world is common sense and willingness.

Work:
I started working for my dad at one of his two companies in fruit and vegetables, one is a catering business which delivers to customers all around the UK, the other is a wholesale business which imports in from many places worldwide in bulk and sells on to other companies. Started working at the catering business and after 3 months was just robotic at my job, was way too easy and just found it boring. And that's when I started to run the wholesale side of it, I jumped straight into the deep end and was doing everything imaginable in the office. I would book all of the produce that was purchased, bill the customers for what they bought, collect money when due and many more jobs. I felt as if I was doing work for 2-3 people and my dad's partner (who he is 50/50 with) never appreciated what I was doing for him and the company. He wanted me to do something which wasn't my job (take a daily stock then compare it to the stock on the system which is the salesman's job who was too lazy to do it) which would take hours every day and was IMPOSSIBLE for me to do while doing my job and said if I cannot do it he will find someone who will, so I took him up on it and walked out. (I think he thought I was going to back down to him and just say yeah... no worries I will do it) but NOPE I am fed up with this stupid capitalist and crap society we currently live in and have been awakening my social conscience. Don't want to work for anyone because you are helping THEM achieve their dreams, even though it was my dad's company I had no special treatment and was paid a basic wage which wasn't even enough to support myself and that's not what I want in life.

Travels:
I will be starting off in Bangkok where I will go around SE Asia for 4 months, I then have a flight to Sydney on the 1st May where I have a working visa I may get some part time work and then from there it's pretty vague, I would like to go to New Zealand, Fiji and I will be going to Vegas for my 21st. If anyone is going to be around these places I would love to meet up and chill just get in contact.

Poker:
My dad has been a gambler all of his life, He used to do a lot of money but he doesn't smoke, doesn't drink and it's just his thing he wants to do and enjoy. He has recently been getting better (at not degennin) as I have been teaching him about bank rolling (he would just look at massive payouts and degen it, deposit and do it again) but I have proved to him this is not effective and it doesn't work. He has taught me most of what I know about poker, he is a amazing live cash player and he is ultra aggressive as he has no care for money. I am more of a statistical and analytical player, I will bankroll myself and keep playing until I can afford the next level. I haven't made a lot of money off poker (About £600 just from 2.5 180's/HUSNG) but I really think I could do well given the opportunity and time which I will have whilst traveling.

Goals:
Starting Roll 24/12/2012: $200
Will be able to redeposit if worst comes to the worst but I will do fine... Hopefully
I wouldn't really like to set an amount of dollars to make per day but would like to earn enough to support my travel lifestyle whilst learning about poker and getting better, rising up the levels.

Sorry If its a bit long but If you want to know anything else or want to follow me on my travels/poker I will be updating here and on a website I will be creating for my travels, hopefully can get some tips and help from this wonderful community and have a whole new life

Short version if tl;dr: Quit my job, going to travel the world playing poker and chilling out whilst blogging about it going up the levels and earning enough to live eventually.

I hope you made the best option towards your life. Anyway your way of looking into life is similar to mine, just do what you enjoy. What was your salary at your normal job?

Regards nd gl.

Well it's going to be an amazing experience and it will be very enjoyable. I was earning just over 17k per year after tax, pretty good wage for someone my age but it's just not what I want to do with my life, would rather travel and see the world

Cheers andre

Don't be a pleb and go to university. You can go to university and still travel. University is an experience you will not want to miss and it is important to find a career, if not for the girls and general fun times, but so you can deposit and play decent stakes in the future. £600 from playing fish infested 2.5$ mtts is nothing to base a decision to skip uni for. My god you make me feel old and I'm only 25.

Poker is just a game subset of the ultimate poker game and that is life- you have a one buy in roll in that one. Skipping uni for you seems hugely -ev.

That would make sense if the guy cared about work and a career, which he doesn't and why should he? it's not for everyone

Good luck OP

Played a little session of £3.5 HUSNG Hypers and ran really bad got it in front many times and kept getting sucked out on, ah well was happy with my play just seemed to have really bad luck
Roll: £153.91

Thanks for your concern about university but I have no set career path yeah the experience will be great but I would rather travel the world than have a certificate and be left in debt, I don't even want to work another day in my life to be honest well not a 8 hour shift office job every day I have better things to do with my time. If worst comes to worse I can work for my dad again but If I can make enough to live off of by my travel blog website and poker, I may not even return.

How are you affording to travel to these places? I think you're a little young and under experienced to think you can just not work another day in your life. Travel the world and play poker? That's your big plan? And this is based off your 600 euros of winnings? I can't encourage this and I think you're in for a dose of reality. Call me a pessimist. But good luck op

I have been saving since I was 7, got a bit tucked away enough to live without working for 2 years, if I get in trouble my dad will help me out. I am doing this mostly to just travel, poker will just be something to supplement my travels and have fun whilst doing it instead of a bar job or the like. Thanks for the support guys and about university I really don't think I need it, I am never going to work for an employee so there is no need to have qualifications. My dad owns two very successful companies and he has no qualifications, all you need is common sense and the willingness to learn and adjust to situations.

@ Rocky I will be making a travel blog don't know if I am allowed to post it here? But it hasn't been started yet I will start it just after my travels begin on the 6th January stay tuned

Fred

Oh I just saw this, and it makes sense now. $200 as a roll to live on while travelling will last all but 3 days.

You said you've saved for 2 years living without working, why don't you be smart and use most of that money for your bankroll, since that's what you're going to be using as the tool to make money for the future.

Put aside 6 months of money for living, not 2 years worth. Use the other 18months of money you have saved for living as a bankroll. Then you can actually do what you said in the thread title.

Otherwise change the title to:
"Follow me going on holiday with my savings for 2 years. If I get short of money will call dad. Might play online poker sometimes for fun."

Sorry but this isn't a poker challenge whatsoever...

Good luck! Bankroll might be a bit small but by the sounds of it you could always transfer some living money into your bankroll as 1aday said.
