Spent most of the day setting everything up, just a few things left to do before I call it a night. I emailed stars last night for my HH's and I was still getting emails through from them at like 3am. I must've gotten around 30 emails from them in total with all my hands since the beginning of time by the looks of it. PT4 has just finished importing them (just under 2 million lol) so now I can finally get started on my HUD. I'm guessing there's no way to import HUD's from HM2 to PT4? No worries anway it shouldn't take me too long using my previous HUD as a guideline. After that I just have to check that everything's working OK and then I'm good to go!

Once I'm all done I'll do another little update with the plan for this week

Pretty sick pc for that price, if it doesn't have one might be worth getting an ssd as this will give you the most noticeable impact in performance for database related tasks.

Also depending on chipset and cooler might be worth overclocking as this will help with Pio etc too.

Jealous, this would cost $1700 in Australia depending on graphics card if I built myself.

Good luck with playing some.

Thanks mate and thanks for the advice! Ye it's got a 250gb SSD. Graphics card is a GTX 980 ti, I'm a bit of a computer noob but I think that's a good'en. It's water cooled with a couple of fans so I'll have to do a bit of research on overclocking. I've seen it talked about a lot but haven't really got a clue It runs at 4.0ghz all by itself, which is nice, but I've heard PIO is really greedy so it's definitely something I'll be looking into.

----------------------------------------------------------

Right, just preparing myself for day 1 of the grind. Couldn't drag myself out of bed this morning. I mean, it's a nice change from not being able to sleep, but it hasn't done me any favours in terms of the challenge. My morning routine takes around 1.5-2 hours so I'm left with 13.5-14 hours to play 10 hours of poker (effectively 11.5 with the 15 minute break every 2 hours). So I definitely need to wake up when my alarm goes off tomorrow and waste less time getting myself sorted in the morning.

Also I'm in the process of purging all the hands from database prior to starting the challenge. There were hands in there from years ago and they were tilting me to even look at lol. Apparently I'm down $2k at 3/6 HU and I can't even remember the last time I played HU . Weirdly it takes longer to delete hands than it does to import them, I left it running all night and this was the progress:

I'll do the same again tonight and hopefully it should be done by tomorrow morning.

Thanks for all the kind words btw guys, it's certainly nice to wake up to.

Let the grind begin!

Looks like no HUD for the first 4 hours. -EV but I can't wait for it or there's no way I'll complete the challenge. I'll have to rely on notes and spidey senses for the time being

I can't catch a break lol. PT4 finally finished, I restarted, and now Windows has thrown another update in my face. This is the 3rd one since yesterday they're taking the piss ain't they? Anyway, it's been stuck on this screen for close to an hour so I'm gonna 2 table a bit on my laptop, still with no HUD. Tilting first day back at the tables but I'm still smiling!

Haha sick, as I'm writing this my PC finally rebooted and now I'm good to go.

lol

You didn't have to purge all the hands tho, you can just create a new database by going to menu -> database -> database management and click 'new'.

As for HUD colors, PT4 (and HM2 afaik) is limited to 3 color codes per stats when playing at Stars, so you have to set the default stat color to one of the three you want to use, then put the two others in color range. ie. for one stat I have 0-50 blue, 51-60 red and then orange as default, so anything from 61-100 will show as orange.

For setting up IP/OOP etc. you just choose the selected stat, and go to item properties on the right hand side, scroll down to 'Has Position' and tick In/Out of position.

Same goes for fold to steal stat etc. you choose the default 'fold to steal stat', then choose 'Small Blind' in 'Position' option under item properties.

PT4 can look a bit more complicated at first, but once you understand their system it makes sense!

I wanted to keep all the hands since starting the thread though and I didn't know any other way to do it. All I had was the HH pokerstars sent me so I didn't know what were the newest hands in order to import just those ones. Another overnight purge session and I should be up to date Tomorrow I'll export/backup the hands from this year and delete the others so I don't have to go through all this again should anything happen in the future.

Wicked post, thanks for that mate. I managed to work out the colour coding bit myself and a friend was kind enough to help me out with some of the other stuff earlier. That's sick that you can alter every stat like that - explains why so many stats were missing! I was a little skeptical about it yesterday but now I half know what I'm doing PT4 is 100% the better of the 2. Played a solid 10 hours today, mostly 4 tabling with a million hands in the database and it didn't lag once. I'll be buying the full version tomorrow to get rid of that bastard trial banner on the tables :P

-----------------------------------------------------------------

For some reason I'm unable to connect to Pokerstars now, talk about one thing after another! I've already played 9h 45mins so it doesn't matter too much, so long as it's resolved by the morning. I'm hoping it's a problem their end because my internet's working fine and so is everything else. I'll send them an email anyway just in case.

Anyways, decent day overall. Got off to a horrible start running like 4 stacks under EV (AK v AQ, KK v JJ, Set v FD) but kept a level head for the most part and made a nice recovery. I dipped my toe in the 25nl pool for an hour or so and then dropped back down. I'll probably do the same again tomorrow and then move up properly over the weekend, providing I'm still rolled of course. Here's today:

Just enough time now to squeeze in an episode of Daredevil and then off to bed, ready to do it all again tomorrow

I woke up nice and early today so I'm almost ready to start playing and it's only 9am. Assuming that I take a few breaks I should be done by around 9ish. Certainly sounds a lot better than 11! Windows 10 did it's 6 hourly update during the night so PT4 didn't get to purge the rest of the hands as I'd have liked. I'll probably just leave it for now and then finish it on my day off so I can keep an eye on it.

Finished tweaking my HUD now too. All the green stats are colour coded:

Finishing up my breakfast, buying PT4 and then firing up some tables I'm just gonna buy the small stakes version for now cos I've spent quite a lot this past week and considering I have barely any income I should probably slow it a down a bit.

I'm now a proud owner of PT4 and loving it now the trial banner's gone. And ye I'm gonna try and get in the habit of backing everything up on Mondays from now on. That's maybe a bit excessive but after the last few weeks I'd rather be safe than sorry :P

-------------------------------------------------------

Right I'm heading off to the library for a few hours because there's some stuff I need to download. My data is capped at 50gb per month (resets on 23rd) and I've already used that and paid £15 for another 10gb - which I've also nearly used. I rarely hit the cap but of course with all the fresh windows installs and updates it's been getting abused. I'm using apple music on my phone for my music and I've only got 4 albums downloaded and I'm getting pretty sick of 'em lol. So I'm just gonna go and download a load of music and some movies/series to watch in my free time and save my data for poker related stuff. I'll be 2 tabling on my laptop whilst everything's downloading to ensure I hit my 10 hour target.

I backup everything each Monday, too. HUD Profiles/PS notes/Database/PT4 Filters are a good bunch of files to begin to save each week

I won a 400bb 4 way pot which kind of kept me afloat but it was a brutal day for the most part. Lost 3 stacks in under a minute towards the end of my session, 2 of them with AA pre. Luckily it was at the end cos I'd have struggled to carry on playing had it not been.

Anyway, that's the whinging out of the way. On a more positive note I'm really pleased with how I played for the most part. Also pleased that I hit my target, plus the little extra that needed to be made up from yesterday. I didn't end up playing when I went to the library so when I got back I just played 7 hours straight so I didn't end up going into the early hours. I've only just finished and I'm knackered so I'm just gonna go straight to bed.

Despite all the **** I still managed to finish up for the day, so it could be worse I suppose. Was up almost $200 at one point though so to finish up +$20 is annoying AF but it's all part of the game and tomorrow's another day

Cashed in another $60 RB so BR's at $927

Things have been going OK these past couple of weeks so I made the mistake of forgetting how bad things could really get. Can't win a hand. I'm at the point now where I see AA and just assume I'm about to lose, which essentially means I'm tilting so I'm gonna take half hour or so to cool off. I'm gonna vent here cos it's the only place I've really got to do it.

my logic/mindset when it comes to the net/ev is pretty flawed, but that ironically helps a lot:

        a) If I lose AA vs KK, I don't give a rats ass as I got it in gooooood
        b) If I win KK vs AA, I don't give a rats ass as I won
