14bb/100 in rake is pretty sick, I'm paying 11,5bb/100 over large sample (im on a tighter side, though)

wr of 9bb/100 is probably doable, but you'd have to be a crusher, I'm probably one of the biggest winners and I'm at 6bb/100 after rake changes

as for nl100, many pools looks soft, but the regs are waaaay better, I play nl50 and nl100 and I'm slightly losing pre-rb (-0,5bb/100) on nl100 while crushing nl50

Yeah 9bb/100 should prob be doable by top regs in the pool, but it's pretty hard having a big wr with that rake situation.

I think the pool quality varies a lot at 100HU tbf, at times there are many 2tablers I've tagged as good aggro regs so playing those pools is a bit of waste cus of rake unless ur very good, but other times there are like 1-3 2tablers and 6-8 recs or something. Mainly weekends and late night/early mornings EU time tho, so doesn't fit too well with my schedule

Month is done, was planning on playing some more but Stars crashing again So yeah, down $173 after rb with -5bb. Disappointing, but I think getting on with a new month can fix my mindset a bit by 'starting fresh' #mentalgameleaks Let's also hope I can cut down on the -10 BI days by quitting earlier when I'm getting tilted/put off my game as they are pretty destructive for the wr, and it's not often we get to rostucko those days when having a bad mindset.

glgl November guys!

Thanks for the info on rake and winrates. That sounds like a tough old grind. Better hope that Stars doesn't cut rakeback even more in the future, or that format will totally die. :/

Good luck this month!

I haven't had much motivation to play the last weeks, but put in some sessions at 16z 6max and crushed it for 20bb/100 #lolsamplesize #variancefreemoney

It's pretty funny that the first 3k hands were breaking even playing away from home on a laptop, while last 7k hands are with my regular setup at home, it really makes a difference for me.

Thanks.

There are a couple of (silly) reasons for it actually; mental game leaks, not studying/playing much 6max for a long period so feel very rusty, playing too loose in 6m cus I'm more used to HU, at 16z 6m you can get away with it, while 50z 6m it's much harder to do. I also enjoy more playing the small playerpools so I can get samples to exploit stats quicker (yeah, I said it was silly! ) plus it's kind of an stress-free grind if I just wanna mash some buttons, playing HU can be pretty exhausting at times so it's nice to mix it up a bit.

On the other hand; I just had a look at my 6max zoom results for NL25 and NL50 which is my most played stakes this year and was a bit surprised to see almost 4bb combined wr (yeah, it's only 168k hands at 6m in 11 months). This should give me some motivation to continue with my 6m game. I'll give it some time in the thinking box, but yeah I'll prob be back at 50z 6m in December after the mini vacation (if I don't spend too much and have to drop down ), and hopefully be able to continue this graphs trend.

Let's get back in the game!

So, I'm playing some NL50 6max this weekend and already getting into some questionable spots:

192) vs 23/18 w 12% 3b, idk how this line/thought process is, but I mean we block AK so I thought he'd have more TT-QQ in his range and he seemed like a fighting reg, but had small 250hands sample tho so could be wrong. I also thought at the time most AK rips it pre, but looking back that's prob not happening so much in these positions?

I would have been paying around 14/100 too under new rake. BB defense has an enormous effect on rake paid. Probably defending anything between 20-30% is about optimal as a default but at 20%, you'll be paying 2bb/100 more in rake imo. In other words that extra 10% of hands just create more variance and generate more rake, the player neither wins nor loses anything by playing them.

Quote:
wr of 9bb/100 is probably doable, but you'd have to be a crusher, I'm probably one of the biggest winners and I'm at 6bb/100 after rake changes
Nice, 6bb in 50z is crushing. Have you noticed a difference in the quality of pools since the rake raise? I was always forced to play from 8pm-5am EST or so. Towards the end of 2015 there were lineups happening that I have little doubt were unbeatable by anyone. This was with four table entries still. You'd see linups like feelssogooood 4 tables, jakeeee 4 tables, Kellerman 4 tables and one fish. Once they went to 2 entry max, I rarely saw lineups that I thought were completely unbeatable except in a few hours around midnight EST.

I'm 90% sure I know who the 9/100 guy is too. He's definitely good but I think if you ask him he'll tell you he hasn't been a winner in every line up.

Quote:
as for nl100, many pools looks soft, but the regs are waaaay better, I play nl50 and nl100 and I'm slightly losing pre-rb (-0,5bb/100) on nl100 while crushing nl50
What's rake like now at 100?

Probably not a vbet even with small flop bet from villain. Bluff raising in general is just adding variance and bluff reraising is a subset of bluff raising. Unless you have a read that he's getting to that spot with way too many combos I wouldn't ever try to push him off anything.*

Expert reraise pf, very nice. If you have 809 hands or w/e on him and you're running the pf strategy I think you're running, which is absolutely correct, how often he folds to 4 bet will start to become relevant after maybe 500 hands or so (I haven't played for a while, maybe its 1000 hands). He'll show up with too many combos otf but he could have anywhere from a few too many to way too many.

I would probe around otf like you just did and pay attention to how he plays. A relevant stat here is how often he folds flop oop to cbet. Is it >50? Fire it off otherwise don't waste your time.

The turn turned to pure spew. Gotta have discipline. Always follow the hand distribution hierarchy within your range ranked by equity for generating good all in turn shove frequencies. And in practice don't even do that, bluff only hands that have close to 50% equity when called.

Quote:
150) weird runout vs 2-tabler, not sure we're getting a whole lot of riverfolds but we have T hi so it should be fine?
You're not getting a lot of folds there. You can get decent folds vs the population when villain is OOP and goes R/B/XC/X or R/B/B/X but not R/XC/XC/X.

The other two are iffy as well, as in not hugely profitable. These spots add truckloads of variance and don't produce great results. At 42 hands you don't know what his tot river fold % is. If he had 420 hands and he's folding 69% of rivers, then it should be handsomely profitable.

He "has tons of bluffs" and it "looks like you have ace high" so "he's gonna want to bluff". Doesn't matter at all.

The bet is over 80% the size of the pot. Without reads, you're getting slaughtered in these spots. If the bet was half pot it would be a lot closer.

*you're not playing a reg so screw all meta considerations. Fish, and most regs, just aren't capable of accurately applying any meta concept at zoom and even if you run into one who is, it will balance out with the other fish who run opposite his tendencies. Also if he vbets a spot with too many combos its really important to observe both statistically and by showdown how he plays the bottom of his range. We want to see if he's overfolding, which is the natural tendency.

Hey man, nice to see you in here!

Yeah, those thoughts about rake/BB defence makes a lot of sense, definitely something to think about.

Ahh yeah true, I almost forgot it was possible to 4-table each individual stake last year, imo games have gotten better for recreationals since then so it's prob one of the few decisions stars has done right lately. I just really hope they don't say GG HU 2017, but wouldn't be surprised if they did. Will be interesting to see what happens. Fingers crossed!

Appreciate the hand comments man, I don't remember exactly who that 41% 3b villain was as it's some time ago but there are couple of "spewy whales" that I've logged a fair bit of hands with that I consider semi-regs, that are doing crazy stuff There are many different kinds of regs in my mind.

Looking back at those hands now, the only one I feel misplayed is the K6 river bet/3b jam, should prob just start out by x/c river with this hand/Kx either way, and yeah we hold some blockers to nutflush but hes prob not raise/folding many flushes.

Do you play HU nowadays or plan on returning to the game?

Setting some plans? A new approach?

I've been thinking about something lately. I used to be much more efficient with my time devoted to poker in the earlier days, where as now I'm really struggling to get things going and its' been like this for way too long and I want to do something about that! So, while randomly trying to find some new cool apps, I came upon some apps with timers/todolists/etc, and it got me inspired thinking this could may be something I'd try out for organizing my poker plans better. Installed a couple apps and tried them out before I found one I really liked, it's called aTimeLogger. Very simplistic, but it has those features I was looking for, even widgets (see ss below) so you don't have to open the app for start/stop your activities.

So yeah, gonna try to track my time doing pokerstuff in the near future to see if it can inspire me to work harder. For now I've set up my 6 most used activities in poker and divided them in three categories:
Play: when at the tables, HU or 6max
Learn: Studying, Books and Videos
Casual: Social, which is forums/skype/railing/entertaining vids etc

As you can see from ss underneath, I'm setting goals for the first two categories which will count time in the widgets on phone, while for the third (casual) I'm just keeping track to see how much time I'm using on it, hopefully it'll be less than the playing and learning part 4 hrs play and 1hr30m learn is prob a bit optimistic, but I'm going to have days off where I'm not doing any of the two, so I'd rather set higher goals to begin with for the days I'm going to play and learn. Feel a bit worried that I'm going to forget start/stopping the timer for each activity I'm doing, but I'll try my best getting it to be a routine!

204) lolstrathand, not entirely sure but facing this river sizing should be pretty polarized so I think flatting is ok? It sucks when he has 22, but I don't think he's calling worse than a set otr plus two pair/top pair is unlikely. River bet or check is also debatable, but I just felt at the time he has more missed draws (mainly clubs that didn't bet flop) than TP otr, so I think letting him bluff those have a higher EV. Thoughts?

not sure why you would check river after raising turn. also depends on villain type and whether you think they are aggro enough to bluff a obvious missed draw. I would just bomb river

Hi mate,

wtf why would you call QTs to 4b from utg and then call cb in 3w w Qh? I'd rather keep it simple and crush nl16 instead of making fancy plays
