Gotta play by their special rules sometimes

I don't play much volume anymore, but will try to post weekly results and some HHs on the side. BR wise I'm trying to rebuild from withdrawal again, so plan is to go 16z -> 50z (skipping 25z) and take it from there. It's been a while since I played NL50+ now, so hopefully will get back up there asap.

started reading your thread and analyzing your hands(still in page 4 though)

I think you're an excellent poker player, from the hands you've shown here, you look like a very tough player to play against. I can't understand how you're back to NL16(haven't read the other pages, later will get the answer to that lol)

my advice to beating NL16 is just to play solid, pretty tight(ofc, opening wide from the BTN and SB vs huge nits), cbet the flop a lot vs fish and double barrel on good cards, also overfolding some hands in marginal spots, like when you have a7o and CO opens for 2.2bb, just fold, even if he is wide, rake is absurd in NL16 and most people don't open wide enough.

Also 3-bet only premiums, I used to 3-bet 56s/89s, but people almost never fold pre or post-flop, they only respect your bets on A/K boards and almost never fold on lower board flops.

Just use a 3-bet range of AQ+ and JJ+ vs most of the population and valuebet really hard, specially thin valuebets.

Also overfold to aggression, most of these guys don't bluff enough, specially when they use bigger sizings.

btw, what's ur sn? Have we played against each other?

Hey m8 - I had simillar experiences with Party (over 150k hands) - want to share your SN, prob. played against each other - also grinding a decent bit in the 16nlz and 25nlz streets on stars.

If you don't want to share it in here you can hit me up via a PM - would like to talk to another reg a bit more in depth about the party 25nl ff pool.

Hey, nice to see you in here Rapidesh

I definitely wouldn't say excellent player, but I'll always try to at least play my best game. Reasons for only playing NL16z for the moment is mainly BR wise, I've been withdrawing too much last years plus the fact that results haven't been good enough, so yeah don't want to play NL50 with this BR atm, but hoping to get back there soon. I'm only at 3bb/100 last 116k hands, so will take some time

Yeah your advice/thoughts about NL16 pool seems pretty spot on and I'd want to get out of the heavy raked games asap. I play a very exploit heavy game, but still end up calling down a bit too much vs people who just don't bluff. Also been struggling with mental game as I said in your thread, which is a big factor to succeeding in this game. So yeah, definitely have some big work to do to get better results.

I have 187 hands on you so we haven't played much, but I managed to stack you once in a set over set cooler Will pm sn.

Yeah idk might be bad, but I'm ok flatting pre vs two unknown 1-tablers (CO and SB) before I get reads we can exploit. Most of them are obv really bad post.

Speaking of which, is this ok postflop? MP is aggro 3bettor with 96% cb flop () over 800 hands, SB is the std passive rec with superlow AFq. I felt it's a spot we can exploit both villains pretty good. Thoughts?

don't like flop but can understand it (still don't like it) after your reasoning, but on turn you effectively turn your hand into a bluff...?

I prefer a call down here rather than raising the flop if MP is liable to spew and SB will come along. I'd be amazed if SB has folded anything better than KQ here

Yeah, flop is as I said a very exploitable decision, I don't necessarily think MP will continue barreling on any turn so I don't want to have turn check through and face a bad runout, so I think protecting our hand vs the passive recreational is better.

About turn, I feel the same logic applies, since SB is so passive he wouldn't bluff missed rivers, and I think we have the best hand ott vs him a lot, there is still value to be had imo. Another option is check back turn and bet river, but I prefer the other way around. Should maybe size down a bit to let him continue more of his worse hands, but yeah.

It's certainly not std, but I felt it turned out an interesting hand

Maybe I am just crazy andor wrong, but I think the turn play (mainly sizing) is terrible. The guy needs to call a flop raise and a really big turn bet OOP with a hand that's worse than KQ more times than when he has AQ/QQ/88/maybe even KK given stacks and his stats. Don't wanna sound like a hater, but I think it's a massive ev burn, completely needless one, too, considering we are sitting IP ott w/ TP and can just xb.

No worries Clanty, I much appreciate your thoughts on it!

Sizing is 64% so not that big imo when we are 285deep (I know you practice small sizings a lot ) My thoughts at the time was he could have much of the 99-JJ, JT, T9 combos, and we block QQ/AQ. So trying to get another bet in against those hands and then check back river was the plan. 88 is possible, KK I think a rec would be 4betting pre but might flat some %. But yeah it might be too optimistic in the end to think he'll call enough worse hands ott.

Didn't play particularly well tonight, but won 20bb in the end. Last couple of days have been good results wise though, plus I'm at 43k hands for the month so 50k looks reachable.

Looking through todays hands and found this one, the buttonclicking is strong with this german reg in BTN Safe to say he's not exactly the 18/15/2 guy that stats was telling after 134 hands!

Yeah, stats can be pretty misleading before getting decent samples indeed. Gotta work with what we have though. Plus, making notes on hands/villains lines/sizing can also be helpful, but I feel it's difficult to actually read/use them in-game lol, should work on my note game. Any of you guys using notes successfully?

Hey man, nice to see some 2+2 guys at the tables, should get more active Btw sorry I didn't answer right away, but my HUD is covering chat bubbles for two of the seats at the table gl at the tables!

So, september in the books. Was doing ok until final weekend where I dropped almost 10 BI in a session (for the second time in sep) with some legit spewing going on At least put in some decent volume, 3tabling helps as I'm avg 600 h/hr now.

H1: bigger OTR(75%-90%), fold vs the raise, it's sick, but it's not like NL16 guys are turning hands into bluffs and overshoving for 3x pot OTR without the nuts, they're also never valuebetting a weaker flush that way.

H2: fold pre, people rarely 3-bet OOP vs UTG with a range that you're ok against, calling is OK, but vs these nits(specially 19 VPIP guys), you're crushed. 98s has a ton of equity vs his range compared to AQ, but it's better to stick to setmining in those spots and fold everything else since you will almost always get paid, 4-bet KK/AA only and some AK, vs some guys I'm even folding AK vs their 3-bet . The good thing about calling with SCs vs a 3-bet range that's probably only QQ+/AK+ is that you can own his AK, but in average you will be folding on most flops turns and rivers =(

as played, fold the flop, your overcards are worth almost nothing, also fold the river, people in NL16 don't usually bluff a lot, but they valuebet a ton
