One Decision at a Time: Poker

Welcome to this thread. Though it is mostly for me you are welcome to comment/critique as you desire and I encourage you to do so.

So what is this thread going to be about besides me?

Decisions

I am making a commitment to this thread (that is a decision) and a commitment to understand the game of poker beyond what I know currently.

I am starting at 6max NL2 as well as will be playing some micro MTTs. The first goal is to get to $100 total bankroll. Once there I will consider what to do there when that time comes. I am playing on WPN and have 27% takeback as well as attempting to clear as much of a small reload bonus that I can.

Could I go broke? That is always possible…

In the meantime I will update this thread once a day until I am at a bankroll of $100

Day One:

Technically last night, but no matter.

NL2: Played well. Had a couple of sticky spots and a couple of tough beats but didn’t lose my mind so that is good. I struggle with something I like to call rage tilt-I’m seeing a therapist. Ran well under EV, I will post a graph once I get a larger sample.

There was one hand I couldn’t lay down. Humorously my opponent should have had an even stronger range based on the action he gave. I didn’t fold I lost. The other hand I’m likely to get flamed for and I may deserve it from a casual observer, but my opponent (which I have a large sample on) only does this with aces and I have 3 hands in my database that reflects it. He could be doing it with something else (that is possible) but given the stack sizes I just didn’t want to stack off at that point. Hand will be posted below, please comment.

Profit/Loss: +$5.93

Micro MTTs: Ran pretty bad. Played a mix of buy-ins from $1.10-$0.11. Six tournaments total for one final table and eighth place.

In the money (ITM): 1

Buy-in: $3.96

      Day Two:

Crushing it and running well under EV. I figure to post a graph once I reach 10k hands, currently half way there.

NL2: Played even better than yesterday. I surprised even myself. Got in about 3k hands today. Over the total sample of 5k hands I’m at $27.84 profit and the adjusted EV is at $44.02. That’s a pretty crazy run over such a short sample of 5k hands (or nine stacks) and to remain profitable: Happy to be profitable, that’s all that matters.

      Cumulative Profit/Loss: +$27.84

Micro MTTs: Again, ran like crap. Then to add to it the last two MTTs I made a couple of really dumb errors. This was mostly due to (overall) frustration. As I was playing cash and MTTs together I was cognoscente to not let the frustration seep through to NL2.

I’m limiting the amount I play for the next sessions. If I don’t bink something pretty soon, I may just quit them altogether until my Bankroll is higher. I confident in my ability to play these donkaments but besides the last two mistakes there really has been little I could do.

      Total Tournaments: 14
      Did Not Place (DNP): 12
      In the money (ITM): 2

      Buy-in: $7.92
      Cashout: $2.51

      Profit/Loss: -$5.41
