Very nice thread, keep up the good work like meditating (enjoying it a lot) and studying (both at your game and master thesis). just finished both my master and bachelor thesis after a looool and painful grind (and a lot of week offs due to poker travels and online grinds).

Was skiing at the Sella 3 or 4 years ago and think it was the ski trip and area I enjoyed the most. And this comes from an Austrian guy skiing for about 25 years now.
Where are you from btw?

Nothing major to report pokerwise. Played 5 sessions since last update, and it has been a bit up and down. Lost few sessions, booked small wins in a few others. Thursday most notable, chopped 44 pko 6max 3way with 2 regs, so we only played for bounties. Had build up a rather big chiplead afterwards (700k vs 300k & 100k) but was busto 2 orbits later, so that was a bit annoying however ran good before that. There were one or two interesting spots actually. Went to a cycling race (as you guys might know, cycling is insanely popular in Belgium) on saturday and had good fun. Might have had a few too many drinks in the end, which left me with quite the hangover on sunday. Also had to be awake at like 10am for a group meeting, so this may have not been the most GTO approach to a sunday. Afterwards, I started to feel a bit better, watched the cycling race first, and then decided to play a rather small session from 8pm on. Pbb not a coincidence I got totally rekt. Was 1-tabling the mini milly at 11pm already. Oh well, **** happens.

This was in different tournament. Not sure if my riverbluff is good. It's nice that I block KQ KJ I guess, however it might be bad to block JJ &QQ (although population might not realize that is actually a pretty poor blufcatcher so I dno) Thoughts?

Still haven't started on my master thesis, and my internship starts within 2 weeks, and there is like a temporary evaluation with my promotor as well in 3 weeks I believe. Today is the day that we start I guess, and might go hardcore for 2 weeks, to at least already have a solid basis.

In the meanwhile I'll leave this awesome piece of classic music. Pay esp attention to the part that starts at 1:37 <3

Hey, thanks for joining the thread and the kind words. I'm from Belgium. Def gonna be a hard grind, esp since I can be such a slacker sometimes wrt school. Congratz on finishing your master and bachelor thesis!

Yeah, I think the Sella provides almost the whole package. Very well prepped ski tracks, lots of options everyday to try a new area, wonderful views, good food, and decent atmosphere as well like. Not top-notch such as you sometimes have in Austria or the really expensive french ski'ing areas (like val thorens) but I typically don't go on these holidays to party all day all night anyway, so that's fine.

GL all and thx for reading!

Haven't played any poker so far this week, have been busy with quite some other things. Haven't started yet on writing master thesis, however sent my promotor an e-mail with my thoughts on how I would like to approach it. Now waiting for a response, in the meanwhile reading a small book on case study research.

In other news, I've been playing a pretty competitive game for the only course I have this semester and it has actually been surprisingly good fun. In short: In groups of 3 you battle against 11 other groups in a footwear industry, where you all start with the same specifications in year 10 and then have to decide on, well, basically everything. Divided over 4 regions, you have to decide on price, advertising budget, models you offer, delivery time, celebrities, quality you are offering, the productivity, how you want to ship them from one plant to another plant taking into account exchange rates and tariffs, expanding your plants, building new plants, taking loans to finance it etc

After every year, you can review - to a certain extent - what the competition is doing, and adjusting accordingly, which makes it a very strategic game and somewhat similar to poker in a sense, since you try to exploit tendencies. For example, you also have to decide whether you want to invest in private-label. Each year, there is a bidding round, and there is only a limited demand, so only the first x bids get a share of the private label market for example. So you have to kind of guess how low the competition is willing to go etc lots of fun haha

Each round you also have to estimate the industry averages, and based on that - and your own decisions - you get a projected performance. So basically the better you estimate the industry average, the more the actual performance will be similar to your projections. So for example, you estimate the industry average price in north america will be 50$ but in reality it is 45$, you will then likely have produced much more than you actually should have, hence you will end up with a large inventory, which is obviously terrible.

Anyway, we are now half-way the game (year 16, it goes on till year 20) and the first years basically everyone was struggling because the market was super competitive. We now finally seem to be back on track, and are back in the middle of the pack. We just took a pretty big gamble, and decided to build a new plant in europe with a 2 mil capacity, which will cost us heaps. It might work out great and could potentially help us win the game, but it could be our demise as well. Get rich or die trying I guess

Might seem a little off-topic but I've become pretty obsessed with the game lately, so thought it would be fun to share. I'm even making ****ing spreadsheets for this game, to have a better look at the competition. We are company L fwiw. The game is on https://www.bsg-online.com/ for anyone who would be interested.

Probably gonna fire a poker sessh tonight btw, and then play a big session on sunday as well. VAMOS

should have pbb just bombed flop in hindsight. hard to be objective right after such a hand and unlucky turn of events ofcourse. Don't mind turn and river, although pbb still bit better to bet turn too. Oh well, learned something again. Annoying to come in such a weird spot in a pretty nice timbey again though. Always seem to get in the weirdest spots ever deep in nice timbeys. Was rly confused by spr and board, and made assumptions he would bet flop more than he should since he was a vamoo. Whatever, did some labwork on the spot today, and feel much more confident now and in similar spots for the future.

It's time for a quick recap pokerwise. Didn't play much untill 2nd half of february due to exams, however almost have 500 games for the year now. Have been very happy with how ive been approaching poker so far this year. Have had really good focus throughout basically every session, haven't stopped regging earlier than I planned etc. Result wise ofcourse still very solid. Various 1k+ scores, however would have been nice to win a decent one (5k+) for once.

EV bb/100 numbers also look very good. EP pretty bad, so might adjust my play somewhat from that position again, could be variance too though, small sample. Overall quite satisfied with my year so far. Will focus a bit more on school (internship + thesis) from now on, and gonna try to keep playing at 2 quality sesions a week. Very likely will move to offpeak on sunday, and one random day during the week.

I mean ingame felt like small bet doesn't accomplish very much, shove was likely a bit too much, and bombing is super face up but that doesn't matter and is by far best play I guess. Agree tho getting creative might sometimes end up biting you in the ass

As far as overpairs go on that board, KK should probably be the highest bet% right? What did it piosolver say (assuming you ran it and are willing to share results, obv no problem if not)?

Cool, thanks. Was the b22 and my overall ev bb/100 is around 7'ish since 2016, and about 10'ish for the year so far.

Sure. QQ pbb highest freq bet, as it needs the most protection. Kings bet a very high % of time, AA bet a lot as well but can sometimes check, and JJ pretty much always a check. As far as sizings go, Pio was like bomb >> check or jam >> small fwiw. Just too many bad turns for kings really, 8 9 t q a almost half the deck. ^^

Thanks for the encouraging words!

In other news, I decided to do a small 'running challenge' for myself in order to remain fit. I would like to be able - 10 weeks from now, end of my internship as well - to comfortably run 10km's in less than an hour. Ideally like to combine this with some force workouts or cycling rides as well, but picked running bc it isn't very time consuming and doesn't take much prepration either. Have ran 3 times 15 mins this week to get started and feel pretty optimistic about it so far. Last time I wanted to pick it up again I got injured pretty quickly, so trying to take things slow this time and stretch out properly etc before and after each run. Quickly put together a small schedule I'd like to maintain sort of.

I have no idea, seems like a decent build up I guess. Thoughts, any experts on this matter perhaps? What's the gto approach to this? Trying to accelerate a few times, put in a few breaks during the longer sessions etc? I'm really clueless tbh haha

Have been super busy this week. Internship started and been liking it quite a bit so far. Very enjoyable working environment/atmosphere. Hoping to move up in responsiblities soon, since first week was a lot of administration nonsense, but oh well part of the job I guess. Also as an intern it's pretty tough to gain a lot of responsibility, bc you need to have the authority to sign off documents etc, which is obv not possible atm. Excited to see where it's heading though.

Haven't had time to play poker during the week, bc whenever I had some free time, I chose to do other things (mainly working on thesis/sports). Did play an early sunday session today however. Basically ran well until it mattered, semi deep runs and 2 ft bubbles. Ft bubbled the early b162 which was very tilting since I was 1/16 and idiot polish reg decided to make a very very questionable 3b/c while being 2nd in chips while I was 3rd. Ofcourse gets there vs my jacks and i'm gg.

Was very tilted, and I'm not exactly sure why

1) Bc make-up is pretty low, and missing out on decent scores hurts more now
2) Bc he made an idiot play and got rewarded and is up 200k+
3) Bc it's a highstakes buy in and they are rigged af
4) Bc didn't even make ft again

Pbb mixture of all four. Ranted a bit on skype, but really pointless though. People don't care anyway, and I can't blame them ofcourse. I guess the back to back deep runs in decent timbeys, which both ended very dissapointing, got to me.

Went for a run afterwards, and managed to do like 5:30 ; 5:50 ; 5:20/km. Feel a bit sore now, so made sure I stretched properly. Working towards 4km next week.

Gl to all the heroes today. Feels strange to be already done with a sunday session, but actually kinda like it.

This was actually vs same clown. River obv easy fold, not sure about the turn though. Maybe betting myself and folding out broadway floats is better. Can't be too bad still I imagine.

I mean, what are you expecting him, to 3bet fold AQ? 3bet folding is suicide and calling is also bad. Can't really blame him it's a spot where he's kinda handcuffed into getting it in.

I think that's very untrue and very narrow minded tbh

it's kind of a weird hand to begin with and pretty gross (especially when u guys are chip leaders final 16 or w/e). i think villain squeezing is definitely highest EV play while flatting is less profitable but probably less variance too (if he's planning to just 3b/flick it off)

i'd prob just squeeze and then sigh fold to a jam in his spot 1) doubt u are jamming worse than AQ here ever given dynamics 2) ICM suicide to stack off so thin vs another big stack

i dunno how much i like jamming JJ here might just nit flat and play some flops
