Sigh, I was due for some coolers. KK into AA, everyone flopping sets against me, AK not flopping anything. Down 3.5 BI's. Better luck tomorrow.

Sigh fish run so good against me. It's pretty sick.

I haven't been playing much this week. I'll be in Vegas this weekend until Monday morning. Will be staying at the Venetian for free. Hopefully I win moneyz.

Need to learn how to leave games where I'm up a significant amount. Fml

Got back home from Vegas, played a small session last night and won a little over 700 bucks. Totals for the trip. Poker winnings: ~2100, BJ losses: -750. Lesson is, stay away from Blackjack.

A story from my trip: So I was playing Friday night and one of the older players of the table in his 50s, point blank asked me, are you a professional? I said: Why, do I scare you? in a Britishy butler voice. Got him to laugh and a few others to laugh.

You should consider posting graphs, people like graphs.

I will post a graph at the end of the month.

I'm thinking of switching over to the 6 max dons. Any Bovada DON players want to chime in? If I have a 5 bb/100 winrate at 50NL, what ROI do I need from DONs at the 20 dollar level to match or exceed?
06-01-2014 , 01:45 PM
Here's my latest graph for the month of May, didn't play at all the last 2 weeks. My win rate was a little over 5 bb/100 and I ran bad running 4 BI's under EV.
06-03-2014 , 11:15 AM
First day of the new month, ran really good. Busted Kings with A10dd AIPF, and coolered someone with Aces against Kings which held. Finally nice to see me running above EV after last month. Up 2.5 BI's

Won 60 bucks last night. Fish run so good lol. Giant whale to my direct right playing 77/23 raises on CO after 30 ish hands, I 3 bet with 1010 on BTN. Flop comes Q 5 6 rainbow. Villain check, I check obv knowing villain hits Q. Turn is a 7, villain fires out I call. River is a J, check check. Villain has......Q T off.....MBN to play so poorly and win 3 bet pots OOP. Stuff like that helps me win and helps me lose at the same time.

So you are saying you "knew" he hit a queen and still called the turn. Doesn't really make any sense but ok

Lol, I was just emphasizing my run bad in these type of situations against fish at times. Against this type of villain, a Q is definitely in villain's range. Think of the reasons on why we should be cbetting and betting in general, to get worse hands to call, or to get better hands to fold. With Tens I have very good SD value, but on this type of flop vs this type of villain, cbetting with 10s IMO would be a -EV move as villain will usually only call with a Q, or better in this spot. The only hand that's better that I potentially fold out is JJ. Sure, villain could call a cbet with a 2nd pair type hand, but how likely is that going to happen on a 3 bet pot? And if that happens, you won't know where exactly you are in this spot. It's essentially the same logic with KK on an Ace high flop, a majority of the time you shouldn't be cbetting the flop against fishy villains because an Ace is in their hand range quite often.

Hi

I have been playing on Bovada for about 5 months now. I deposited $100 in my account around January 10th. I only deposited once so far, and that 1st deposit has lasted me up until this point.

I have tried:

small buy in tournaments
10 NL full ring cash games
10 NL 6 max cash games
25 NL 6 max cash games

The majority of my playing time was 10 NL full ring and 10 NL 6 max cash games.

I have decided that I like the 6 max cash games best.

I am concerned that I haven't been winning much - I have been hovering around even money for a while.

Can you recommend any tips for playing at these micro stakes?

Such as: books to read, poker training videos to watch, or websites with helpful info.

Right now I am a college student, with very limited funds.

Hey Steel, thanks for dropping by.

Some tips I would give is to play tight and smart. There was times at a table I was playing 10/8 at a 6 max table after 60 hands, due to me not getting hands and having a giant calling station to my left. Avoid playing hands especially marginal hands out of position. Always try to play your A game, quit when you're tilted, tired, "not feeling it," whatever it is. Don't force yourself to play when you shouldn't.

A great but old free e-book you should look for is Ryan Fee's 6 max book. A lot of the information in that book is still relevant for today's micro stakes games.

2+2 is a great resource full of eager people like yourself, get to know some of them so you can discuss hands together. Post some HHs and ask a lot of questions.

Improvement happens gradually, so keep playing and avoid as many mistakes as you can.

I feel like playing 10NL is too small stakes and isn't really worth my time and effort. My per hour rate is very bad.

I want to play 25NL instead, because there would be more money on the table and I could potentially win more. Even though it's still micro stakes, there is usually $100-$200 on the table in a 6 max game, whereas the 10NL there's usually around $50.

Were you able to build up your bankroll playing the 10NL games? How did your win rate differ in the 25NL games?
06-05-2014 , 11:19 AM
You have to start somewhere Steel. If you're not beating 10nl consistently, what makes you think you can beat 25NL? I agree, your hourly will suck at 10NL but if you have a small br, you should be playing smaller stakes until you can grow the br by consistently playing and winning. I pretty much started with 20 bucks and in about 8 months or so have grown my br to 1100 right now. It would be much higher but I have a full time job so getting in volume is very difficult. Now if you don't care about br and are risky in nature, ignore br considerations and jump right in.

Ughh, ran bad last night down a little over 2 buy ins. AK into AA, and then my 2nd BI was due to this hand. I almost got away from it, and in hindsight I should've as villain's raising range has me crushed. I have a2hh in sb. BTN was a very active player stealing 80% after 50 hands. Folded to BTN who raises 2.5x, I 3 bet bb folds, BTN calls. Flop comes AA5 with 2 spades. I cbet, villain calls. Turn is a 9, I cbet again, Villain pushes all in. Now here is where I should've easily folded. What do I beat here? I don't beat a random ace or pocket 5's or 9's. Only thing I beat here are bluffs, and semi bluffs with something like KK, but even then most villains just call if they think I'm full of it. Semi bluffs rarely happen in 3 bet pots as they are rarely successful at this level. I stupidly call and indeed villain caught the two outer for a full house. I still had outs but did not hit the river. Studying hands like this is very important. Yes I have trips, but in that spot trips are rarely good at this level.

won 10 dollars last night, a small miracle given that i was down 2 bi's at one point and won 2 huge flips to be even. One table I ran absolutely horrendously, including running JJ into KK, getting outflopped numerous times with premiums against whales, and off course the table was full of action, I had AA on the BB and proceeded to get a walk. lol, just one of those nights.

Everytime I run/play bad, makes me thankful I have a job. Down 2.5 BI's. Donks run good against me, ace rag is the nuts etc.

Won a little over to buy ins over the weekend, would've been A LOT more but obv, getting outflopped in my MO.

I got an email earlier this afternoon from the Garden City Group. I can expect a wire before the end of next week. Finally getting my money back from full tilt. 8.7k

What stakes are you playing now?

Anything below 100nl is raked beyond belief, something like x<12bb/100

Besides on good days 100-200nl play about the same as a "reggish" 25/50nl
06-10-2014 , 09:42 PM
I play 50 NL right now, pretty close to going to 100 NL.
06-10-2014 , 10:05 PM
Subbed, gl op. Do you play any PLO? If so what stakes?
