Just doing a quick hand analysis. I don't think this is a check back at all.
I think AQ would be a cbet on this flop for value! if villain has 32s here, then his range will include hands like A4, A5, 45,56,75,76, 97, QJ, QT, T9, KJ, etc, which AQ beats. The point of betting is to make villain fold his equity share on the flop. A hand like JT has ~25% equity vs your AQ on this flop and if you bet and he folds, awesome! 25% equity is very significant vs your hand.
Plus, this board is so hard for villain to hit, he'll just easily check/fold with his T7s or whatever garbage he has.
Also, if villain has 87 or 86, you still have 25% equity vs his hand plus many many many over cards will hit the turn that you may use to barrel.
