Hey everyone, I've made a couple PG&C threads in the past and quite enjoyed updating them so going to take this perfect opportunity right at the start of 2013 to make a new thread, and aim to keep it going for the entire year. I'll do my best to update it regularly.

Prepare for a tl;dr

In 2012, I made SuperNova Elite. I think I was possibly the only player who made close to half my VPPs from cash games and half from SNGs. As a SNE, I get a 5FPP multiplier and as long as I maintain the status (50,000VPP a month minimum without missing more than two months) I will be getting around 73% rakeback if I make 1 Million VPPs again next year. In reality I think it may even be as high as 75%, if I include the promotions that I will hopefully benefit a bit from. For example, I made a fair bit over $5K last year from B000000M, Battle of the Planets, the January VIP bonus thing and Happy Hours etc combined.

I'm hoping to have a great year, both in terms of profit as well as overall life.

In terms of profit, total profit and hourly are much more important to me than having a pretty graph or crushing pre-rakeback, and as such I don't necessarily expect to win heaps pre-rakeback since I will play more tables/tougher games if I think combined with SNE rb it will mean the highest hourly for me.

In 2013 I plan to play:

200 and 500 Zoom, between 4-8 tables (depending on how I feel, if I'm working on my game or just want to make profit, how tough the 500 pool is, if I'm travelling and on a small laptop etc etc)

Possibly some regular tables, I don't think I'll do this much though.

MTTs - Mostly just on Sundays and for series like WCOOP, TCOOP etc. Probably playing a fairly packed schedule on Sundays, but won't have a few tournies like 109 Quad, Super Tuesday etc to start.

SNGs - Starting at anywhere up to 100 Hyper and 300 Turbo/Reg Speed (6m, fifty50s mostly) and a little bit of 200s hypers/500 turbos with game selecting.

I will play a bit of everything and see how things go, then decide which games I will focus on and how many VPP I will aim for etc. I am basically 100% sure I will get 1M VPP at least though. Knowing me, there's a good chance I'll switch "main games" a few times throughout the year.

I've also worked out a deal for live MTTs and will be playing in some EPTs (Berlin almost definitely), Aussie Millions, WSOP Australia and some Australasian events (APPT Melbourne, Auckland etc). Unfortunately being 19 I can't play in a couple of the Auckland events at the start of the year though.. Won't go into details of how the deal works here but it's a long term deal. Hopefully I'll be able to run good and bink some score/s.

I'm going to re-open up my coaching listing and probably open one for cash too sometime between now and February, and hopefully commit to a decent amount of hours every week. I really enjoy coaching, seeing students succeed and progress etc, and the side variance-free income is also nice of course. Hopefully I'll put aside about 5 hours a week for the year for this.

I'm going to be working with a couple of friends on a stable/some staking, and hopefully will make some more side income from that. Probably just starting quite small, and seeing how it goes. I have a decent amount of experience in this already so it's not like it's new to me or anything.

Finally there's some real life goals I have which I'll hopefully be able to stick to and achieve. I want to:

Finally get my drivers learners license. Wtf it's really ridiculous that I haven't done this already.

Keep in touch and spend time with my friends as often as possible. Being quite corny here but friends are my everything, and I've been told by a lot of people of different ages that after high school, uni etc people just naturally drift apart slowly. This is inevitable to some degree with people doing different courses, getting busy jobs etc, but I'm hoping to stay close to my closer friends and will continually make an active effort to see them when I can etc.
I think in "this day an age" things like Facebook do mean our generation will find this a bit easier than previous ones too.

Be nice to mum! (Or mom) I live with my mother atm and we get along fine in general, but sometimes we have arguments etc and I'm sure I could be a bit easier at times.

Travel a lot and meet people. I did this a fair amount last year already but hopefully will do so again this year too. I'm excited to see some people I've already met, as well as some new ones. Hopefully gonna go to Europe, Canada and possibly some other places. If anyone who doesn't live somewhere real random has any invites please feel free to PM or post ITT and if it works out would be happy to meet you along my travels

Other than that I guess finding a girlfriend would be nice too, lol.

absolutely sick! How do you find it mixing SNG's and Cash Games at such a high level? Do think it would be better for you to just focus on perhaps one? Do you think your hourly is higher at the hypers or zoom games, and if so; is mixing just a way to help meet up with your VPPgoals?

I don't play them at the same time in case that wasn't clear, but I guess the answer to your question is I enjoy the flexibility of being able to play different games. Sometimes after playing one game for a long time, especially if I'm running really bad, it can be pretty brutal mentally and a switch to something else can be a really nice change. I think there is a good chance that focusing on one game would be better in terms of max $EV, for sure. Especially long term since I can probably get decent-good at everything, but not great, whereas if I focused on one it's possible I could crush eventually.
Hourly not really sure, it's so hard to estimate accurately. I would say it's actually somewhat similar (although 150-200 is quite similar in my mind) but it depends on a lot of factors. Depending on the lobbies for both games, somedays hypers may be better, and others zoom. Also I have a lot to learn in both formats so my EV winrate in both isn't that great compared to the better players etc.

Nice video mate, I'm currently playing 10nl, quick question how often are u calling a 3 bet with a pocket pair to set mine. Say they are making it $1 do u just fold? cheers.

For the pocket pairs, it really depends on a lot of things. In many cases you can call to not purely set mine (expecting them to c/f sometimes on bad boards for them/good boards for you, you can call and get to showdown with the best hand sometimes - especially with a hand like 77 which has significantly better equity than 22, you can bluff and win etc etc) so this question is not that simple to answer..

Very generally speaking, if we are in position we can call a little more liberally, if we are deeper we can obviously call more liberally, if we are facing a weaker opponent we can generally call more liberally etc. If you are PURELY set mining, meaning you are c/f every flop you don't hit a set (expect maybe like open ender like 66 on 543 or something) I'd say close to 20-1, especially OOP, despite hitting a set 1/8.5 or whatever times..

You don't always get paid off for stacks (in fact you "often" don't), when you get it in on the flop you have 90%~ equity, not 100% vs overpairs, you can get set over set and lose your stack, the rake especially at smaller stakes is relevant etc. All these things add up.

Vs. good regs who have fairly reasonable ranges (containing value as well as some bluffs) calling most sized 3-bets OOP with hands like 22 is going to be a leak fwiw.
