I think sinking into poker could be leading into a bigger depression if unbalanced.

Just my 2 cents

Hey dude GL!

What's your plan to get your BR from $0 to $20 is probably my first question?

I don't know what your poker background is like , but even a guy who already beats midstakes would take way longer than 6 months to go from $0 to $10k. All the grievances of trying to cash in a freeroll and playing nl2 with only a couple of buy ins would be too much to overcome. If you had even $100 to deposit you could save yourself a couple of months time. But you would have to be a winner at nl100 at least to clear this challenge In time and I would wager good money that you are not now nor will you be good enough In 6 months to do this. Just because Chris Ferguson could do this challenge In 2009 doesn't mean you can.

In regards to the weight goal. This cannot be achieved without amputating both of your legs. I don't know how you think you could lose 8 pounds a week for 20 weeks in a row.

You need to have realistic goals because if you don't all that's gonna happen is you'll give up very quickly. 2 weeks in when you're only down 4 lbs you'll likely just give up altogether

Been there. Depression really clouds your ability to think rationally and see things with a true perspective - which is incredibly important with poker. You will need to develop a feedback loop or a way to ground yourself when feeling emotional. This thread and readers can help with that but it can be very easy to dismiss comments and get more emotional when they are critical of you.

Agree with this for both goals. My advice is be patient (longer than 6 months). As long as you keep working hard and making progress (no matter how small), you will get there eventually. Knowing that gives you certainty which can be very challenging to find in both these goals.

Wishing you luck with this and managing depression. Keep us updated. Look forward to reading more.
