If you are going to play off a tiny roll you gotta find a way of isolating your EV decision making from it or you are never going to play your A game.
Ye ik. Fwiw I don't think the AK hand is too bad, only miss value from some Kx combos.

Job security right now for unmentionable reasons is not the best, so think i might wait til that is sorted out and I have my 1.7k before playing again and then when I do , play much more aggressively.

Like can you really donk pot and fold here? Do they ever raise worse? The guy who stacked me said he probably plays a set similarly and that I probably played it okay. I still feel like I should muck since there's like 12 combos of the nuts either one of them likely has.
please give more details. preflop action, how many saw the flop, and positions of the players involved post. it sounds like a pretty bad continue. once u pot and get repotted, the repotter's range is super strong, then the other guy still came along. without a great redraw this seems like an easy fold and even with some redraw(diamonds) it still sounds like a fold. but a few more details will paint a clearer picture. What was the guys stack that repotted and what did u originally pot it to?

GL Meale, subbed!

One word of warning, because I play a lot of underground games (no legal poker in NYC). Usually the player pool in these games is really small, and people will get reads on you. One of the easiest reads to get on someone is that they're scared money. Easy to tell because people who are scared money REALLY want to run it multiple times to reduce variance. If you played at my game and I got a read that you were scared money, I would exploit you hard by semi-bluffing a ton with big all-ins (including overbets) when I think I have good equity and making it clear I would only run it once. There's one reg I play with that I do this all the time, and the only reason I limit it to semi-bluffing rather than bluffing without any equity is that I'm afraid if I do it too often he'll adjust, so I try to not get greedy. So, I'd be careful with letting people know in a home game that you're underrolled and I would generally be very casual with asking to run it multiple times, i.e. let the other guy suggest it or don't push it very hard. Poker's a much harder game when people are semi-bluffing you a lot.

Doesn't come up in the casino much though because usually player pool is bigger, generally play is less aggressive (though less spewy too), stacks are smaller so harder to find good semi-bluff spots and you can't run it multiple times anyway.

Yeah 100%. No one in the game itself knows I'm under rolled and tbh I'm really not since I work full time w ****all expenses. I don't think there are any regs in any of the games I play with who would see my willingness to always run it twice as anything they'll be exploiting but that's a point I'd not yet thought about. I guess you're > all my regs.

===================================

Today, Jan 13/14 2017 | +$500 | 6 Hours | Variance 4/10

Said I was going to wait til my life roll got back up to where it needed to be but figured since tonight was my last opportunity to get some volume in before being back at work I might as well take $1k with me to a homegame.

Played 2/3 NLH for 4.5 hours and got up $500. The game changed to 2/3 rotation for the final 1.5 hours and I basically broke even there.

Happy with increased aggression today. We were playing short handed (4-5 handed most of the night) and I was able to steal a lot in a number of spots. I also did a few larger bluffs i.e. playing less scared money. One triple barrel got called and that was really my only big losing pot.

Here's a hand. Eff like $400-500

Hero UTG 5 handed w QQ, opens to $13, fold, decent enough reg CCs on BTN CO, fold fold.

Flop ~$30: 642

Hero cbets ~$17ish, call.

Turn ~$64: 642 9

Hero bets again ~$45, call.

River ~$154: 642 9 6

Hero checks v checks, hero wins.

(lol looking back at this, seems a super easy vbet)

I'm pretty sure this is a value bet because he prob just calls again w TT, JJ if he has it and maybe 88. I didn't want to give villain the opportunity to turn these hands into a bluff by repping the 6 tho so idk. Pretty sure I can easily bet $85 here for value and prob fold 100% to a raise. As played, planning on xc river depending on his size.

This will be my last opportunity to play for a little bit. Hopefully I can get some volume in next weekend.

Re: Meale's 2017 | 2/5 Live | Professional Poker Player by Year's End

Friday, Jan 20/14 2017 | +$1,000 | 7 Hours | Variance 4/10

Played in a brand new homegame on Friday. It's an awesome game: plenty of Asians with deep pockets. The best part is that there's a rakeback system. I got given $50 for my first session for playing 5 hours on Friday. After 100 hours there, I get more cash as well. Also get decent cash for referring friends to the game which I intend on doing as well.

The reason for the varianceometer being a 4/10 was that I got KK all in pre $600 deep vs 89s and lose lmfao. Pretty awesome though that I was able to get myself into that spot.

I posted a few hands in the LLSNL forum from that session already.

SUPER pleased with my increase in aggression. Red line warrior that session. Feeling extremely confident in my NLH game at the moment.

I'm also studying a bit more PLO stuff. A friend has shipped me a video series and I'm studying this game because a lot of my homegames are rotation or exclusively PLO and so there's huge value in bettering my PLO game.

Only got one session in this week which blows. I would play tonight but I've been wrapped into going out with a pretty young thang which I suppose is also +EV. I have a two-day work week this week because of an RDO and Australia Day, so hoping to get at least two sessions in, preferably three if I don't get too wasted on Australia day - trying to compensate for last week's poor volume.

Have been working probably 50-60 hours this past week and roughly the same next week so the work grind is going well.

No sorry man, think i recall your name from somewhere.

Seeing as i was wrong, let me start over.

What limits were you able to beat online?

And how does those games, fare against the live games youre currently in?

The only person incapable of beating 2NLz is Zzoop. I think my 2nl WR was 16bb/100.

I was a slight winner at 25NLz online and breakeven for my brief 50NLz career.

Of course the live games are infinitely easier than pretty much any online game.

nah 2/5 is a bit too deep for my roll atm. Would really like to reg some 1/2 or 1/3, 2/3 live games though, have you come across anything less than 2/5 in the underground scene?

Yeah mate there are plenty of 1/2-1/3 games about. Most of my volume has been 2/3 tbh (though it plays like 2/5). Shoot me a pm if you want more info.

Thanks mate. Unfortunately they're not as often as I'd like because I'm not playing massive volume ATM but I imagine that'll all change toward the end of the year.

Planning on playing a 2/5 session at the same place as last session tomorrow afternoon.

Spending too much time/money partying still and tbh after this week I really need to fkn knuckle down and start saving properly.

Yeah it blows my mind how people work in factories with no progression or thought in the work. That's why it's so +EV to study study study (especially in Australia $$$) and get a job that actually has progression and something you can be good at! It's not fun stacking crates for a living!

Have you finished your study? I study through open uni and work part time as well.

Why did you quit online? You could have been 100k hands away from the next doug polk.

Goodluck.

I study for fun essentially. I don't like the idea of working any job full time for someone else so even a career with good progression isn't for me. I've half completed two degrees and done a third of a third degree. :')

Study for me will be a perpetual process probably for the rest of my life. I also enjoy learning about niche subjects through my own research (I.e. current affinity is metaphysics of death).

Quit online because too hard and getting banned in Australia and etc etc

Yeah studying really is great. You could just grind those degrees for life. What have you studied so far? I'm hoping ACR will be playable from Aus and are you positive the ban will go through?
