Cant u get a staking deal? From all the past threads/posts its pretty clear that u are a favorite in most small/mid stakes cash games.

Stay strong and make it happen. GL

I don't know tbh what live staking options there are. Wouldn't be opposed to it if it means I can play instead of work.

Thinking of staking someone not personally known for live games is imo. risky multiple ways for the one who stakes that it cant end up really as a great deal. Between friends it might work really well though.

Maybe Im just sceptical but would be really tough to invest money as staker and getting no offical track of the games etc.

I've never had a job that involves thinking or any real mental expenditure. As someone who enjoys thinking, I much prefer, at least on paper, the notion of working an office job, sitting down all day. Of course then training before/after. I get that your brain might be a little cooked after being used all day if you then go try play poker.

Last Friday I tried playing poker after work. Started my day at 3am, working 5am-2pm, went home, got to the casino, and then played til about 11pm for something like 7.5 hours. At this stage, I was seriously concerned I wouldn't make it home. Was driving so fatigued and felt so horrible: hungry, headache, falling asleep. Felt like trash and so won't be doing that again. Maybe a 4-5 hour session would have been better but it's a long time in transit for such a short session.
I don't do physical work , but definitely know the feeling of working a full day then heading out to play for 5 or so hours. Parsons Grinder will definitely attest to this ; )

Not that I do this myself, but definitely remember to look after yourself - its really easy to forget that playing live poker can be super tiring, in particular the mental side. Remember to take a day off or so, you can always just play online or watch some training videos instead : )

All in all, great thread so far no need to stop it even if you're drastically reducing your volume. Your posts don't all need to be poker related. Hopefully you get back on the horse sooner rather than later, don't forget to keep studying/playing online and keep improving during your downtime!

Question:

160bb deep.

You have ATAT, 4bet preflop, villain calls.

54bb in the middle, with about 130bb behind, flop comes:

89Qr

We're IP. What the **** do we do here? cbet+fold? cbet+call? x+fold? x+call? x+jam? Of all 5 options we have on the flop, I have no idea which is better.

I'd lean towards cbet/GII but his range is so stronk on this board if he put it in? We block some of his nut combos but there's very few bluffs he can have here if he wants to stack off. So I guess it's like a cbet/fold?

Should be more than 54bb in there no? It's a gross spot but I agree b/gii is prob best. It hits him harder than you but his range should include other hands like AKKx, KQJx,AKQx, etc etc

On my phone so can't run numbers tho. But generally 160bb deep think I'm fine stacking off in a 4b pot

Yeah, 100%. It's a big investment as well and as you say, much harder to track. Not sure I really want the burden of being on someone else's money either but it's probably higher EV than working - just don't think it happens much so prob won't pursue it.

Yeah 54bb + the blinds. I feel like if I bet and get raised, I'm so far behind since v will have like no bluffs? Kinda feels bad 160 deep idk.

Saturday 18/02/17 - +$180 - Variance 3/10 - Volume 6.5 hours

Played last night. I have an RDO Monday so figured why not. Reason for the poor variance score was because I got into a small pot (maybe $100-$200 ish) with 56s all in on the flop (55Kss) vs AA no spade, and they rivered an ace to scoop. Also card dead pretty much all night and didn't really win any big pots.

Also been playing a bit of 5z online just as a bit of a muck around and for fun. I imagine when I'm tempted to go out and party or socialise, I'll be able to use this as a tool to avoid going out and spending money.

Also I'm still having issues with HEM/Stars displaying the correct balance. HEM says I'm up $33 in the last 2 sessions but Stars says I'm up $47. Does anyone else know what's going on with this? Both HEM and Stars are on latest versions.

===== HEALTH/FITNESS =====

Put on 6.2kg in the last 2.5 weeks which is pretty cool. This past week was my first week doing 6 sessions p/w instead of 5. I feel pretty bad eating so much and having two rest days. Feeling really good and getting stronger in workouts too. I'm very tempted though to rejoin my old gym because for back day, I feel like I'm not getting the best possible workout in. I can really only do bent over barbell rows and bent over SA DB rows and that's pretty much it. I don't get much out of the SA DB rows and much prefer seated pulling movements to get a good squeeze in. Will keep going at home doing the ghetto workouts and hope it improves or until I run out of weight. Food-wise I've been eating like a mad man. I feel bloated/almost sick when I start work at 5am having finished eating at roughly 4:15am but it's bearable. Last week I've been doing chicken, brown rice, and broccoli as my main meal. This coming week I think I'll do the same but add onion, mixed vegetables, and maybe add some sauce or something because it gets quite monotonous as it is. I am looking for a new meal to eat for dinners/after workout. My current issue is getting home at about 2pm, drinking preworkout, working out, finishing that at about 3-3:15, drinking a large WPC post workout shake, finishing that at about 4-4:15, then being incredibly full after that but still feeling like I should be eating some sort of solid food between then and my caseine shake before bed at 630ish. So if anyone has any ideas for a quick and easy high protein, preferably lowish fat/carb meal I can do after workout and before bed, would appreciate any ideas.

About to head out now and do the week's food shopping and cooking. All is very well and I'll update probably in a week's time or so.

Yeah I've been having the same issue as well. Stars is bugging out with the hand history replayer so you have to request hands through email and then manual import them back into DB like every session.

That's annoying. I guess I'll just wait for this whole thing to blow over and then import them all at once.

UPDATE

Savings going reasonably well. For me I think the biggest thing that hinders my efforts to save money is going out and partying etc, so I'm looking to avoid this.

I've decided to bumhunt 25nl reg on Stars for a couple reasons.

- Keep me at home on Friday/Sat nights and actually earn money instead of spend it
- Keep my head in the game while not playing as much
- Practice highly XPLO lines vs bad players

It's actually amazing how good these reg games are. I've never really practiced table and seat selection but I must say that playing 4-6 tables and literally just avoiding regs to go after fish (and there's plenty) is far better than I thought it was.

I put in about $375 (15 buyins) on Friday night and have been enjoying a real juicy weekend on the tables. I'm going to continue bum hunting in the evenings and spend a good chunk of weekends doing this.

As for BRM, I think I'll roll with:

25NL - $300-$750
50NL - $500-$1,750
100NL - $1,200-$3,000

Pretty aggressive but think that's fine given a high winrate and small no. tables. BR is currently at $638 after 5k hands.
Still on track for the live grind later this year. Have also been playing live maybe once a week but still losing mostly.
Nice to see you playing online again! I followed your thread @ 10z and 25z. Seems like that last ds at 25z killed your motivation... which is weird, cause you seem better then most. I'm 100% sure that if you had the right motivation and kept a good momentum you would have reached far.... at least that's my opinion

GL bumhunting!

Best of luck, Maele!

If you had to mention one leak of Yours, that's bothering you, what would that be?

Yeah who knows. Thanks for following btw. Hopefully I can become some sorta bum hunting lord and work my way outta 25nl that way!

Thanks dude. Leak that bothers me ummmmm idk. TBH I'm sure there are some leaks but nothing that is an obvious glaring issue for me atm. I think one thing for me to focus on will be only playing during good times i.e. weekends mostly. Way more fish and it makes the games go from your standard 25nl level way down to something like 5nl and you can print money.

Anyway, giraffe so far lol. This past session I lost with 3 of a kind to flushes 3 times in 300 hands which kinda blows. Been running pretty average over this sample tbh.

I imagine I'll just be playing pretty exclusively on the weekends since I don't have much time in the evenings and evenings AU time is pretty ****ty anyway. I find online poker so addictive that staying disciplined and only playing during weekends will be super tough. But I'll definitely give it a crack anyway.

Also, I signed up at my old gym again today. It was too tough for me to train back and chest (but mostly back) at home with limited resources. Hope this helps push me over the 100kg mark within the next month. At about 97kg now.

Nice redline! What are the main reasons that you get it positive at 25nl? (Know it is a small sample).

River aggression and thin value bets.

I've never noticed much of a difference in winnings between weekends or regular days. At first it looks like Sunday should be most profitable etc... etc... But personally Thursday is my most profitable day (won slightly more than in weekends) and it was when i was grinding with very few day offs. Especially if you're table selecting, you can find 4-6 tables with 2-3 fishes ATTs Tuesday morning.
03-20-2017 , 10:25 AM
Good to see you back on the tables and glad it's going well! Time is always a killer, hopefully going to have some more time myself now to put some studying in as well. I'm yet to see a massive difference in days regarding the strength but I would imagine weekends are going to be the softest.

I guess what it also comes down to is what time you're playing your volume on weekdays. If you're playing at peak during weekdays, you can probably find 6 very good tables. For me to play during the week would be at off-peak hours which are pretty bad - struggle to get 4-6 tables you're happy with without constantly breaking games. On the weekends however, i can play more volume at peak hours and even the off-peak hours are much better quality for me re game selection.

Yeah like I get home from work at 3pm and then train and eat n **** and try to get to bed at 6pm so i can do the sleep grind. Hardly have 20 minutes to spare to play on the evenings and it'd be at ****ty off-peak hours anyway. So no real point in it for me.

If you're just looking to get x number tables open and grind away, without doing much selection, i guess it probably doesn't matter too much what days/when you play. But for me I'm going full blackrain and spending like 50% of my time during sessions hunting around in lobbies for fish.

Also what study stuff are you planning on getting round to?
03-21-2017 , 03:18 AM
Let's say that we actually use 40-50% of the time searching for fish when we play regular tables. That + way lower hands\hr per table (As long as we don't play 10 tables++)... That will make zoom more profitable even with 2-3 times lower evbb\100?

Of course this is only one side of it... but am I wrong?

I don't table select but I play micros. I just fire up the zoom pools and play regardless of who is in there. I guess my thinking is that I want to get as good at the game as I possibly can so playing people better than me should get me to improve. I'm not necessarily that interested in being the biggest winner at the moment but seeing the fastest improvement in my game.

I get about 400 hands per hour playing 4-6 tables. Which is about half what I'd get playing 4z. Idk what sustainable winrate at reg tables bumhunting but if i could maybe hit 3bb/100 @ zoom then I'd be pretty confident the bumhunting wr would be >6bb/HR. Making it more profitable for me.

Yeah that was my thinking for a while too. And imo nothing wrong with it either. I'm just trying something new. If there's any chance this allows me to get out of the micros at a quicker rate than zoom (which never happened after maybe 1mill hands tbf) and escape the rake trap asap, then I'll give it a go.

Plus for me atm it's less about improving and more about actually making a bit of cash. If i can get to 50 or 100nl and bum hunt a decent wr there, I'll be able to make some nice supplementary income.

You won't get any hands soon bro.

if you get to 50 or 100nl, you'll need a 100$/m seating script or to start tables

Simply not true. Can still manually find good games if playing on multiple sites. Especially if I'm only playing weekends.
