I don't want to argue with you but there are myriad reasons to bet 1/3 on a very dry board in a squeezed pot.

If he folds flop 0% (which he doesn't) then great we can barrel like every turn.

I'm aware about 1/3 cbet, as its balanced, but in that spot the point is its useless if you don't continue on the turn, and balancing at these levels is pretty lol anyway.

I disagree. If you are unbalanced any decent reg can exploit you quite easily. I would suggest playing more balanced vs good players and exploitatively vs weak players. I think if you are trying to move up playing in a balanced way is optimal at 100+.

Thats right. Im at work and cant do the math but villains only need to fold a small % of time to make a flop bet profitable plus this board is great for our range.

Regarding AT hand.

Flop cbet is fine in practice, but 3-way pots work a lot different than HU pots, especially when the openraiser sandwichcoldcalls. Fairly confident that we aren't supposed to bet our range even with 1/3 from theory perspective, unless you just squeeze super narrow valuerange.

But the important thing is to be thinking, how the EVs of different options run, and how villains should respond to us deviating from "optimal" play, and how it affects our EV if villains doesn't respond accordingly to us deviating from optimal play.

About rest of the hand, I just don't get the "thought great spot to bluff". Yeah there's great spot to bluff, but its turn, not river. Assuming you always cbet AK, turn is like the nut card for our range, and even if we rangebet flop, we can super super often bet turn if we size correctly. When you check turn and jam river you are representing prettymuch only QQ. That doesn't really qualify as a great bluff spot for me, unless villains read ur turn checking range to only be QQ,JJ and figuring you'd never turn jacks into a bluff.

I got 2 points, there is difference from being "perfectly balanced/gto" and employing a good strategy that is hard or almost impossible to exploit for a lot of EV. In my opinion you should almost always reach for the latter one between of those, because it actually usually leads into more "perfectly balanced/gto" strategy.

And then the explo/gto stuff. I also thought the same back in the day when I was climbing the stakes, learning balanced game is the most important thing, and you can only learn that by trying to play as balanced as possible. It took me a lot of hours before I really got it trought to my head how wrong I was.

It's kinda important to learn balanced strategy and to be able to realize how it should look, but you don't actually need to be balanced. People aren't clairvoyant, they can't actually instantly figure out your whole strategy for a specific spot.

The advantage of realizing what balanced/gto game looks like, is to be able to find the leaks in other peoples strategies. But the most important thing is to being able to visualize how their leaks/strategies affect the EVs of our hands and being able to take advantage of that.

1/3 cbet on a draw heavy board is just burning money. You are giving them the right price to draw on you and take an EV you have. Calling the raise is worse.

mock if you like, but burning money is burning money. If you can't fold to a raise when you bet 1/3 pot, then you shouldn't be betting 1/3 pot.

Also, from posted hands, he seems to have a sizing tell.

I peek into this thread from time to time and I agree that there is way too much talk about "our range contains this and that so I get to bluff/have to call this combo".

Just throw that stuff out the window. There are only two ways to win - make someone fold equity incorrectly or make someone put money in behind. If you're good at these two things and know which one you're achieving in most spots while playing you'll completely steam roll 50z and be on your way up the stakes.

If you're bad at these things you should stay far away from PIO. PIO will only complicate things if you don't know what questions to ask to make your strategy perform better. The golf coach analogy wasn't accurate at all imho. The poker equivalent would be to get a strong coach, not getting a piece of software that's only as good as the user input allows it to be. Flying solo without a sense of direction it is very possible to spend hundreds of hours in PIO and end up playing worse.
maxde1 - The challenge of real life and reaching HSNL Quote

well if you end up playing worse after 100 hours in piosolver, a coach won't help you and you probably should consider other avenues

I assume you are saying that because he bets 2/3 with AK on ATx and 1/3 on other boards with weaker holdings

but yeah it's not very relevent, the only thing it tells us is that he is using more than 1 bet sizing in 3bet pots

I didn't say it was 100%, but from the hands he posts, if he bet 1/3 into me, i would weight his range pretty differently. Just an observation that he should be careful to keep in mind.

Yeah another leak of mine

Ok so im taking 100z shots again. After today I have $4.3k in my stars account and will take a 3bi shot and move back to 50z if I get below $4k.

So hopefully Im done with 50z. Here is my 50z graph:

In some ways im quite happy with my results. I can only dream of what my WR would be like if I didnt punt of 43BI in September when I tilted hardcore....I feel it would be 4-5bb. But anyway, 175k hands and 2.35evbb is solid especially taking into consideration my tilt issues.

If I filter my results to after I tilted the 43Bi off, over last 63k hands at 50z im winning at 4.53evbb.

Anyway, here is graph of today at 100z

KJdd I don't really like putting much in a xc range otf, it's either a bet or xr for me as I think this is a texture we should be bombing away on. Him being MP isn't the greatest obv, but still prefer to not go into xc mode.

AThh I think just xing flop is fine, don't like this 2brl v much but as played guess riv is a check.

gl at hundo, go get them $$
