The Finale

Im ending my blog. It has served it's purpose. The story of a player moving from micros to mid/high stakes NL, playing as a part time, serious hobby.

Its been an enjoyable ride with many ups and downs, but im really glad I stuck it out, worked very hard and have achieved the success I thought I was capable of several years ago.

Thank you for following, here are my results this year. All the best

Amazing results Max, you should be really proud. Making the same or more than the majority of 100/200nl regs while having another fulltime occupation and child is very impressive.

Gl moving forward <3

GG well done mate, living the dream! I'm in a similar life position, just came back to the game after a near decade hiatus. Have a full time job, running a business and recently new baby addition to the family. Really interested to know more about your journey now that you've hit your goal!

Curious how many hours did you have to play a week on average? What about time devoted to studying?

What was your way of juggling the hours needed to put in the hands given work and family commitments?

What did you feel like you needed to compromise or needed to sacrifice?

Effect of downswings on family life or mental health?

If i answered these honestly it would put you off. To give you an idea, this month i played 30k hands approx, which was 110 hrs of actual play. Plus i would spend at least another 5 or so hours per week in pio/reviewing hands easily. So lets say 130hrs of poker stuff. I would also be watching videos on the couch/in bed etc its an obsession tbh. I think to be very good at something you really need to devote yourself and become obsessed with it.

In terms of juggling, The main times I play are around 630am to 9am then go to work. On weekends the same but would finish at say 11 or 12noon, it depends. So its when my baby and wife are still asleep mostly.

You need to sacrifice everything imo because there are only so many hours in the day.

The more experienced you get the easier downswings are to cope with. In june i lost 20k, the start of july 5k, so was down 25k, which was 40bi. That was testing for sure, but i stuck with it, played the game and managed emotions to grind out of it. IMO those who have the strongest mental game are going to have the best chance to succeed.

hahahaha i remember. I was generally salty in chat and tbh it was my ego (which is terrible in poker imo)....im learning now to ask why people are doing weird plays rather the immediately dismiss.PIO can show us some strange **** we once thought was insane.

I read your hole article today. Nice story Bro.

I´m on the same journy ( without a Child ).

Maybe you can follow my journey and If i am good enough we can get a Coaching together, but at the micros I believe the most work I can do on my own and with my Study partner.
