I've been playing PLO exclusively now for the past three months and have really enjoyed it. I've been lucky and have run good so far.
The other day, I tried to play some holdem and it felt weird. Transitioning from holdem to PLO is easier than the other way around in my opinion. PLO has made me a looser player, definitely. I've become used to having more equity preflop and on the flop in PLO than holdem where I should be playing much tighter. I'm also underestimating how nitty people are in holdem and could well be at risk of value owning myself if I don't adjust quickly and tighten up my range.
I predict that my biggest immediate leaks will be not being able to fold to 3-bets preflop after opening such hands as J10s, ATs, 78s, 66 etc. I suspect it would be a leak to raise/call 3-bets 100% of the time with such hands. Not being able to fold these hands may cost me a bit in the first several sessions of trying to adjust back to holdem, but we'll see. Anyway, I look forward to posting interesting spots in the LLSNL forums. Or maybe I won't. Maybe I'll continue my degenerate ways and continue to play 5/5/10 PLO.
The problem I have with playing holdem is that it is nit-infested and nothing brings out the Hitler in me like nits.
Running good in PLO is offset by the hurt felt by the variance associated with it while the lower variance and more conservative results in holdem is possibly undone by having to sit with ****ing nits for hours on end. LOL. What to play...
