I forgot to mention, I'm aggressively present when we are together. No laptop, no phone distractions, picking her up her favorite meals etc.. Also when I am away, I venmo her a little money now and then for things like movies.

I'm very intentional.

I should have been up an extra $300.. but made a few bluff raises which didn't make much sense reflecting. I'm overly tired, I think I'll call it an early night.

Day 7 out of 12

Looks like I got hammered with work related mini projects today. I will resume playing tomorrow. I hate to stop playing during this great run, however, I have to make sure I find the right balance with work to live this lifestyle.

I say I'm taking off and yet here I am. I got done with all my work related projects early and decided to head to the poker room for a few hours. Landed some nice size pots against a 3 street bluff maniac.

I realize this is a major heater and in no way close to expected value. I'm just enjoying riding the wave.

I'm starting to worry that variance will catch up. Biggest pot was fairly standard, AA ran into my set.

I know I backed down from 2/5 to plug some leaks. I also understand that I'm losing value not playing bigger. However, at $500 max buy-in, it's low stress and let's me focus in on handreading.

Hand Review

2/5 - Effective $600
Hero button

UTG1 calls 5, MP1 5, I raise to 25 on button with AK black, SB calls, MP1 calls (75)

Kd Jd 2c

MP1 checks, I bet 50, SB calls, MP calls (225)

I'm putting both of them on flush, straight draw combos

Turn is a Jc

Check, check, I bet 75

I'm thinking that bet size was a mistake giving the odds to draw. I had some concern with a J, but thought he's betting the turn with all the flush/straight combos.

Preflop is fine, would consider making it $30 given the two limpers but it's a small quibble. Flop bet is good, turn I would bet $110 or so.

Half pot bet there gives the incorrect odds for V's to draw with most draws but will tempt them. Keeps some dominated K's in the range also. I'm folding to a raise without reads.

If it checks to us on the river I'm almost certainly checking back. Very little potential for value there as our hand looks exactly like what it is.

The streak is broken, lost a few hundred in 2/5. I grinded back to -$48, so basically breaking even. That was one of the toughest tables I've seen in awhile. Lots of 3 betting and some 4 betting. I was considering changing tables but wanted to get some reference points at tough games.

I will take a few hours break to handle work that cant be done at the table and back to the grind.

Very nice night for me. I'm just $1300 away from my vacation spending money goal in late September. Isoated all night, bet sizing got the right calls and got paid off on a set.

61.5 hours so far this trip. Since I went home for 2 days, I'm averaging 12 hours a night. I'm tired, I will play 3 more nights and go home on Day 12. I will rest for 4 days and back to Maryland on Thursday night.

I appreciate the breakdown. After I made the turn bet, it felt dirty. I had a feeling the sizing was far too small. I also invited the draws to make a move.

Hand Review

1/3 - Effective $280 - Hero on Button

MP2 calls 3, HJ3, CO raises to 20, Hero 3 bets with A6o to 60

120 in the pot

Flop: 7 4 2

Hero bets 75, opponent folds

I marked the OP as a thinking player willing to isolate with any 2 cards and able to fold when needed.

Cutting Trip Short at Day 8

I know Friday and Saturday are by far the best days to play poker. Lost $300 on a bluff, decided to take my winnings and enjoy a non poker weekend for a change. Woooo!

I was $425 from my vacation target, so I pushed it put to $4,000. Life is good, ready to celebrate a little.

Micro Challenge - Starting at $2 (username: PotluckNeeded)

Day 1
Bankroll: $11.26
Time Played: 45 minutes
Table: 2cent/4cent

While I'm reviewing material on UpSwing poker, I decided to get back into the 6max groove starting at $2 on GlobalPoker. I'm only doing 1 table at a time to review some basics, so don't expect big scores here.

Thank you so much. I've been taking a short break to recharge. I'm in Manila next month, that should add some excitement.

So this is a good news / bad news scenario.

Bad News:

I've lost motivation to play 1/3 - 2/5 because of the good news

Good News

Because of the crypto alts I mentioned above, I'm rolled to play 25/50. I've been trading for many years and some of my old coins as far back as 2013 have sky rocketed. I know I'm backing down from the amount of hours and just playing when I feel like it. It might be a good opportunity to leave NL behind for awhile and start casually getting better at PLO.

It's been an INCREDIBLE past few weeks. I still love the game, I just don't have to grind as many hours if I want a second income.
