Hello all. My name is Andrew and I just have 1 goal. Beat nl20.

Been playing nl10 ever since I started playing back in 2008, and still play it today.

PRE BLACK FRIDAY:
Boot up 8+ tables, grind like a robot.

Spoiler:

POST BLACK FRIDAY:
Took a long break from poker after black Friday. One positive thing I got out of it was cutting down on tables, and really trying to focus on my play instead of the usual 8+ table grind.

Spoiler:

You must be laughing. 'Why does this guy w/ over 4k posts still play nl10?' (I hate when people think like that...)

(PRE BLACK FRIDAY)
THIS IS WHY... (Please don't laugh...)

Spoiler:

130K+ hands at nl25 and I'm breakeven. I am a fish when it comes to stakes higher than nl10. I've taken at least 5 shots at nl25, and have failed. For some ******ed reason, I always think I must change my play when I move up. But really, we all know that leads to disaster. Tilt, spew, FPS, dick swinging, etc, is all in this graph. When I look at this graph, I am embarrassed. I have 2 eyes, 1 nose, 1 mouth, 1 brain just like everyone else, what's stopping me from beating nl20? Everyone else is doing it.

So, I created this thread to keep me motivated, and tilt free. I'll post results, and a couple of interest hands daily or whenever I play. Goal is to hit $1k. Anything less, and I have failed...again...

So far, so good. low volume, but this time quality over quantity.

im sure the transition from nl20/25 to nl50 is much harder than nl10 to nl20/25. keep working at it, ur one of the better posters in the micro-stakes forum, im sure you'll figure it out.

Hi,

Played my first session and went really well. The traffic on the site I play, is very slow, I'm lucky to get at least 500 hands/day. Played about 1.5 hours, 3-4 tabling.

I'm hitting myself for not betting this turn. Villan was 60/10 fish. His hand is very well face up by the river, I ran out of time on the turn trying to think if I should bet or check. I must raise something on the river...

Here is a spot I'm very familiar with. Cbet once and give up.. I'm trying to fix this leak, and feel so grossed out when I see villans whole cards. Villan is same as the above hand, I'm sure, I'm going to have to fire 3 to get him off the hand.

Played an hour long session, mostly 2 tabling. The traffic has been very slow lately, might have to ask my backer to move me to another site.

Pretty standard stuff. This hand was against aggro fish and I've seen him do spewy/******ed plays, I think it's fine to 4b/call here.

This hand was right after the above hand vs. the same villan. Not the best hand to defend, but I think it's fine vs aggro fish considering we are deep. The bet scroller was totally screwed up during this session (laggy and wouldn't respond), and I had to bet something on the turn/river and I was running out of time. Lost about 50bbs of value

Thought about raising flop, and I think I should have. He's never folding TPTK/pair+FD/2 pairs/etc. At the same time, I have the nuts w/ NFD, and didn't want to fold out his air range, which he has a ton from previous hands. How would you play it?

my advice is play more tables, its helping the tilt very much because of the more and better hands u get. To beat NL20 all u need is to play tight and then value value value. Try to learn peoples ranges throw pokerstove and it will help u alot also. GL

GL with this. You seem solid from your posts so don't know how you're still stuck at 10-20nl, but I assume it won't be a problem to move up this time.

Why are you playing backed, though?

played a hour long session 2 tabling once again. im going to promise myself to put in more volume after Thanksgiving weekend.

villan is loose/aggro fish. he was super aggro preflop when we were 3 handed, running like 50/45ish. i was stuck on the flop, so i checked back, and was going to call a reasonable bet on most turns, and make a decision on river. after reviewing this hand, i think checking is the right play.

my options are:
check back flop: villan bluffs/thin vbets pp's on turns (because fish do weird things lol). 1 street value.
bet flop: fold out his air = zero value. if villan check/calls flop, im checking back turn/rivers which = 1 street value (same thing as if i check back flop)

so in conclusion i think checking back flop is better as we get him to bluff w/ his air range on turns which gives us 1 street of value whereas if i bet flop, im folding that air range out.

villan is loose/aggro in this hand. one stat that jumped out to me was he cbets 85%, then barrels turns just 11% over 450 hands. i think this is a great spot to float (bdfd, bdsd, 2 overs for 2nd pair, etc) and steal on most turns when he checks. i check back flop because now i have sd value, and if villan checked river i was betting something like 1/4-1/3 pot for value. didn't want to win this way but what can i do lol. i should also raise river to like $4.8ish.

i could end the stake if i wanted to, with $650+ to my name. i just feel more comfortable playing backed. first i want to hit $1k before i end the stake. i also play nl4/nl10 on the side with my $. im kind of a bankroll nit.

AQ: i dont think AQ is an auto 3bet. also i dont want to turn my hand into a bluff by 3b/folding.

97s: i believe this was the first hand vs. villan. flop is def debatable. turn is also questionable too.

lol go **** yourself, the guy makes a thread and is honest about everything (rare on 2p2) and you come in and say it's sad? getting $300 isn't easy for everyone, there's nothing wrong with playing on a stake. plus from every strat post i've seen you make your coaching wouldn't be incredibly helpful.

op this douches comment pissed me off enough that for some reason i'm going to keep a track of this thread often and give advice. beating 20nl is easily achievable for anyone with a pulse, but some people have a much rougher time getting a hang of this poker thing because of a bunch of different reasons. less to do with intelligence and more mental state and the way you learn to approach poker.

my first piece of advice is DO NOT PLAY MORE TABLES. while its true that to beat these levels you can/should just play tight and valuebet you still need to develop the thought process that goes into playing that game, playing abc isn't just a case of piling on the tables and playing tight preflop. years ago when i was struggling at 50nl the first thing i did was swallowed my pride and started playing on 1 or 2 tables while putting all my effort into my thought process and it's been easily the best thing i've ever done for my poker game. i kinda talked about it a bit more in this post (someone else's P&G thread): http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...l#post28142275. for you i'd focus less on the mathematical side of it for now and more on the thought process side.

anyway GL, I guarantee if you approach this right you'll have success
