Im stuck around 1k... Played a session 2 days ago. Had a 700 dollar stack at 1/2, ended up down 100 bucks total.

Nut straight lost to a 7 outer in a huge pot against russian fish.

Gonna track my br from now on, I'll start here

Luckily I have all the money I made online and most of the time dont let variance get to me.

Every 500+ dollar I have played thus far I've had the best hand and lost. Literally every one, live poker is brutal but will not break me. At least I eat for free at the casino.

One leak I have is that I play too long I think. I routinely play from 9pm - 1pm without thinking twice about it and I am obviously not as sharp as I could be. I live about an hour and 15 away from the casino so it's a decent drive, I also doze off alot on the way back lol

Live poker is absolutely kicking my ass.

Logged about 50 hrs and am stuck close to 2k at 1/2 (300 buyin).

A few times I got coolered and tilted off another 200 bucks on bluff bluff bluff bluff hands but besides that I'm quite happy with my play.

I do have a leak that I'm currently aware of where I will call an extra 10-15 bucks OOP in multiway pots with 65ss type of hands where I am no way profitable.

This is after I mentally review my sessions and think about situations that continuously arise.

Fixing erroneous play is much much more difficult without HEM cause half the time I cant even remember how I made/lost money.

This downswing needs to stop, at least I got a few hundo in comp dollars.

See ya at the sun.

Play super super tight at live poker, it's boring but you can make a steady income.

Also instead of HEM, buy a deck of cards and review the different scenarios when you get back home, for example assign different range by displaying multiple hole cards, etc.

AK aipf v AQ for about a 420$ pot. Get a queen spiked.

Thats really it for this session, battled back. Had some fish get it pre v my QQ and I flopped a set, he told me he had aces but I didnt really believe him and let him keep saying that.

Running so bad at this casino its sickening. The good thing is that I can autofold for 3 hours, make the nuts and get people to pay me off the whole way.

Another thing I forgot. I got berated for the first time!

Pretty much -

Villian raises 15$ preflop with kk

Hero calls OTB with 1010

HU on flop

Flop comes j10X

Villian shoves like 150$ into 30, hero snap calls and I get a lecture from some donk in a steelers jersey about chasing my 2 out miracles for about 5 mins.

HUGE problem here. You have no reason to be playing tired during the worst hours (7AM-3PM). Take it from me as I used to frequent make "early" weekday trips and it's just not a good idea. Games are just not that profitable during the early hours. You'll be aiming to cooler someone and if you're tired/stuck you're going to play bad. Rest up and play when its more +ev for you and the games are better.

Should of made more, had 2pair vs a flush draw twice for like 300$ pots and lost both.

I did river a fullhouse vs a made flush for a huge pot so it evens out a bit I guess.

Took a break for a week. Going up to the casino on monday to play for 2 days (with a room I got for free). Hoping to even out this downswing.

Last 2-3 times I feel as though I played close to flawless and just did get sucked out on when AI, which is fine.

Definitely fixed my live leaks, valuing chips instead of dollars based on odds when deciding to call PF.

Also playing for 5-6 hrs then eating/walking around w/e and coming back which helps. I'm also loving carrying around 100's in a rubber band... Super baller, I might just change them to high denom chips so I can differentiate my BR/liferoll though. If this trip goes good and I even up I believe I will do that.

If anyone who is a mohegan/foxwoods reg and wants to chat on skype/meet/whatever let me know, I got decent at online by talking to people and plan to do the same with live poker, its just much harder because the sample size is too small to tell whos good and whatnot. Especially considereing I consider myself good and I do dumb **** every once in a while too.

On the comeback trail...

Getting better at leaving at 2am with a 500$ stack as opposed to sitting and grinding against old nitregs

Good read.

I cannot agree more with the playing <9 tables over MMTing the micros. I went through exactly the same process of 18-tabling tens of thousands of hands BE before finally scaling back the number of tables and FINALLY listening to the advice of playing less tables.

It's so delusional to think that one can be the exception to the rule and MMT with a decent winrate. It's almost impossible to not go on autopilot and just become a sucky BE fishreg. Upswings might convince you that you are that guy who is MMTing micros and crushing, but it won't last.

Looks like a nice thread. Will be following this. Also, what you said about playing less tables in your first post is sooooo true. I lost like 3 months playing microstakes cash going for sn. You should not be playing for rb, but it should be like an unexpected bonus.

Why do people constantly look at me for reassurance and ask me "isn't that so sick?" when they miss their 12 outer or lose with a pair v ak.

I haven't said a word In 3 hours... Leave me alone

Solid 1600$ upswing.

Playing really well and running good also.

Was going to go up today but the roads here in CT are horrendous so I'm staying home.

I coach baseball for a premier AAU program in the area. Our fall season just finished and we are taking a month off before we prepare our kids for our spring season/high school ball. The next month my goal is to play no less then 30 hrs per week. Get my volume in provided it is possible.

There was no doubt in my mind after experiencing a 3k downswing or so right off the bat had me wondering wtf am I doing. Felt like a degen. Now that I have battled that back I feel so confident playing live. Like I have said in previous posts, I ran so terrible in huge pots, but I also wasnt playing optimal either. Now I feel like I'm playing pretty close to optimal and have adjusted my game/ranges to better fit the dynamics of live poker.

For example- raising KQ and AJ utg is a thin value high variance play. Yes you are going to be ahead of your opponent's range and hopefully recognize profitable boards to cbet. Every once and a while you can valuetown your opponents qj kj q10 and sooted weak pairs. The downside is that you have RIO for your own hands because people flat AK/AQ etc and your value betting a wet board when your opponent has you crushed. Can fix this problem by open folding from EP. Noone is thinking about your EP range, don't level yourself into that.

Another spot is playing draws. Flush draws are much more more obvious when they hit, and I'm sure everyone has heard the "i put you on the flush" line. Raising these draws is generally a bad play against your calling station live player. In limped pots against weak leads vs the right opponent in the right position it becomes profitable. This may only apply to me because I typically have a loose image due to my youthful appearance and raise sizes proportionate to the pot. The fold equity is just not there most of the time. The obvious counter is to play draws passively and play monsters fast. Again, of course against competant regulars playing aggressively can sometimes be better. Like taking r/f lines IP and double barreling an overcard.

This upswing has made me enjoy live poker again and I spent 300$ on an iphone 4s because my 4 drowned like 2 months ago. Also having copious amounts of cash on me is pretty cool, going to change my money to 1k chips next time I go.

Happy grinding people.

do you drive there and back in a single night? How safe is that if the drive is 1 hr 15 minutes?

Also, get a poker app for your iphone and post a graph.
