Pretty much that. No numeric goals like profit, time played or number of hands. Just do a good effort, keep it a hobby and try to keep the bankroll going up.

How would you increase your bankroll in this situation without making a deposit?

I like to think this as a math problem, disregarding the actual value of money.

The good thing about 888 poker is that its new structure is really casual player oriented. That gives a lot of bankroll boosting opportunities.
You don't lose status and it's easy to climb levels. Also every time you reach a new level you get some kind of reward. Like tickets for tournaments and scratch cards with prizes.
Those are probably my best bets atm.

The bad thing about 888 poker is the variety of games, the rake and lack of rakeback.
I have been playing some $.10 10man STT , where the rake is 20% . That is kinda brutal.

My plan is to reach $16 and start playing the $.40 10man STT with 40 Buy-ins, which is not optimal but the rake there is 12% .

Maths:

If i want to reach $16, i will need $2.62.
That's 262 sits, considering a ROI of 10%.
I can play 9 at a time, on a lapse of 40 minutes.
That's 29 "sessions".
And that equals nearly 20hs of grinding.

If i can keep the ROI at 20% , the time of play splits to less than 10 hours.

Let's see how it goes.

Played 25 sits, lost 12 buy ins. I guess i had a bad run.

I will be unlocking my first scratch card tomorrow. Hope i win some of the poker related rewards.

Bankroll is at $12.16.

Unlocked the scratch card without playing for some reason (?).

I won this:

Spoiler:

This is beyond terrible considering that i get offers to deposit $10 and get $20 instant cash every week.

I do have a few new options now:
- Ticket for a $3000 gtd.
- Ticket for a $500 gtd.
- I can play daily $100 gtd freerolls now.

As they say, no shortcuts to success.

Honestly you have two options: Flip your remains on casino games or quit poker as the dream is dead. If this is just a hobby then don't waste your time... Learn the banjo

Do you play cash or only tournaments?

I started on 888 about 3 years ago with the free $8 they gave to new players. $2 for cash games and $6 for SNGs, I think it was.

Lost the SNG money and was down to under $2 total balance for the cash games only at one stage. But I am still playing there since then and have never deposited.

So it can be done.

Yes i started the same way at the beginning of the year. Turned the SNG money into $9 and then barely played again until now.

Once i get to $16 i will mix a little bit of 40bb 2NL and 40c sits. Depends what i find more fun. I think playing cash before that would be gambling.

Thanks for the kind words.

I have been struggling. Failed to win at the 10c/20% rake SnGs, just gave up on those. Played a few hundred and was down like $4.

Then tried playing MTTs and ended up even after a couple mincashes.

Then tried the 10c Blast tournaments. Those are a special kind of SnG, 4 players and the reward is random between 2BI, 5BI and 10BI. There's a really low chance of hitting some better multipliers. After three 2 minute levels, everyone goes all in every hand. I think stars has them too.

I believe they are way more profitable than regular 10 man SnGs, but you have to deal with the variance and the skill factor being truncated after 6 minutes.

Made some money back after playing around 300 of those.

Today i decided to play a 50c, deep stack, non turbo MTT and made the final table! Finished 8th/600 for like $7 after nearly 5 hours. Kinda sad because the winner got around $60 and mostly because the final players were abysmal.

My new BR is $17,15, so there's that. I'm over $16, which was my first goal.

I might try a few 40c SnGs now (12% rake) or maybe just playing with a 40bb stack on 2NL 6max , will decide next week after a huge final exam i have on wednesday.

Also i got a decent offer to deposit $10 , get instant $10 and $20 extra to unlock.

There's also additional $20 for the casino, which is fine.. but i think it's utterly ridiculous to unlock. Like you have to wager 10 or more times that amount and then it's yours. Basically sun run or throw more money in the casino.

Making that $10 deposit seems like a good option for poker. Besides if i ever want to withdraw, will have to make a depo first, and this seems to be the best time to do that.
