Backstory:
I'm a semi-serious recreational player. I'm fascinated by poker theory, but I long ago decided that I didn't want to play poker as a job. I treat poker in much the same way as I treat chess and Candy Crush. It's a game, yo! I'm not particularly motivated by money and I have some health issues that would make grinding full-time next to impossible. I've been donking around for lolz at peanut stakes for a few years (roughly 100k hands a year with a winrate in the region of 10bb/100), but this year I decided to see if I could move up the limits by following a sensible bankroll management plan. By which I mean...
Got 5 buy-ins? Let's move up! (GTO BRM FOR LOLZ IMO).
I'm pretty confident in my ability to crush the game on soft sites. My current home is Unibet.
I'll post some fun hands in this thread, but they will mostly be examples of spews (either by me or my opponents), as I've resolved to cut back on posting strategic advice. It's bad for the ecology.
Quick facts:
* UK-based grumpy old man with some autistic traits.
* Used to be a hand analyzer for PSO (I helped teach 2NL newbs to fold pre, so sue me).
* Posts too much on forums and
twitter.
* More than the average number of legs.
* Practices with Snowie.
* Often beats Snowie.
* Specializes in #LolbadSampleSize brags.
* Loves K
Q
more than is healthy.
* Plays low volume (about 2500 hands a week).
Selfie:
In the first quarter of this year, I went from 4NL to 50NL in less than 25,000 hands. I definitely ran pretty well, but I also felt that I was the best player in each pool up to 25NL at least.
LolbadSampleSize Giraffe:
The hand counts and overall winrate might be slightly off (it's hard to keep count of hands at multiple stakes without a tracker), so I'll ask that nice Mr. West to confirm the winrates at each level.
This thread will help me chart the next part of my journey and I'll post little challenges to keep me motivated as I go along. I plan to post a review and some hand histories each Monday. My first challenge would sound ridiculous if I was playing on Stars, but I'm not playing on Stars.
[ ] beat 50nl for 10bb/100 over 10,000 hands.
If I run according to EV, I think it's just about doable. If I hit a bad stretch, I'll rebuild at 25NL or maybe try and turn my graph into a perfectly symmetrical bell curve and end up busto.
inb4 massive downsw0ng.
