Welp, managed to put in work the morning of. Not much though.

~250 hands, +~$5.00

I was itching to play PLO8 and found a short stacked 25PLO8 table running. Played for 45 minutes and won ~$27. PLO8 is probably my best game.

Thanks! PLO8 swings aren't too terrible. Hi/Lo games are a different breed of game that took me a bit to get used to but once I did, they quickly became a favorite. Loose Stud8/PLO8 games are really profitable and fun.

Weather was beautiful, she's beautiful, ceremony was perfect, the day was perfect! We got it done and it's about time!

So A.C. was fun. We stayed at Caesars for a night in one of their senator suites, laid on the beach, ate at Guy Fieri's(amazing), messed around on a slot machine for 20 minutes and ventured to the roulette wheel for about an hour. We smacked about 7 or 8 numbers in that hour while pressing bets on the outside, so we didn't do too bad.

Yesterday I learned a guy I used to play a lot of poker with made day 2 of the ME!! Go him and RG!!

This morning I had every intention of playing some 5NL. Every table was full of regs and waitlisted so I decided to look for a PLO8 game. The only one not HU running was 50NLO8. Much action that game has, ended up losing though, ~$70. I could have cashed out +$50 after 5 hands, but, I hate hitting and running. It's not a practice I like or condone. The game took me back to the loose live .50/.50 games I used to play ALL the time. Was a lot of fun and look forward to winning some rolls in that game in the future.

Quick update, 6 tables NLHE this morning for a short time. 350 hands, ~+$3.50. No really interesting spots.

I was surprised to see 12-15 tables that early. Hope it's like that every morning.

Lost my mind a bit today and hopped on a 100PLO8 table. Lost about 120, most of that calling a PSB off OTR with 2 pair. Down about ~$90 on the day so far.

So my roll took a hit this past weekend. I didn't play much NLHE, mostly some higher limit PLO8 to switch it up. There is so much loose action in Omaha, but then when you start flipping for the cap or for stacks depending on the game, it can get expensive. I think I told Oilspill in his thread or via pm the swings aren't too rough in PLO8. I wholeheartedly take that back; the swings can be brutal if its a bunch of gamblers or tilting villains who have no clue what they are doing and GII with any 4. I caught that bug yesterday a little, but quit before the damage became too extensive. No worries, I am nowhere close to busto and I still have plenty of BI's to grind 5NL at 4-6 tables. The thing is, I feel like if you spend too much time at one stake playing the same game, it can make you stale and cause too much autopiloting. On the flip side of that, the tilt that can result from PLO swings can make you go broke real fast. You have to stay disciplined no matter what the format.

Played 6-7 tables of 2-10PLO yesterday for about an hour, lost ~$20. Going in the wrong direction and gotta fix it.

Head down, keep working on your game, variance is a *****, but you've got this.

GLGL!
Constantly and thanks for the encouragement!

It sort of sucks I can't go back and review my PLO HH yet. I was planning on buying the upgrade when I bumped up to 10NL. That was before I lost like half my roll over a week taking shots. I don't regret it though, I could just as easily have made $150-$300 with a little run good, and I'm not on tilt nor am I out of the game. I still have 40 buy ins to work with at 5NL, just got married, still hitting straight flushes every other day in some fashion, still the luckiest man on the planet. Yeah, life is good.

GL @ the tables! I am getting back to the 100 buy in goal in 100k hands @ 5NL. Time to put the focus on HE and that should get me back on the right track to my next goal. Just a matter of time and volume.

Played some 5NL last night and lost about $4 in 400 hands. Played well except for one hand I got a little fancy and didn't need to. I still would have lost for the session but maybe $1.80 less.

The games this morning didn't look that great, so I two tabled PLO, one 25 and one 10. Another swing and miss for shot taking of which I am most likely done for a while. On the brink of dropping to 2NL, which I might do anyway.

You got it man. I like shot taking. When you get all in on a river bluff, it gets you that rush like the first time you played. Keep building that roll. Eventually, you'll have a 500BB winning session when you take a shot and then you're rolled for a while! Happened to me when I used to play on Intertops and was learning how to play, so someone with actual skill is far better suited!

Keep it up man!

I dropped down to 2NL to rebuild this past weekend. I don't foresee it taking me too long to get back up as long as I can put in some volume. Not even gonna look at the results for a while, just going to make the best decisions I can, 500 hands at a time.

Pains me to see someone struggling at ubermicro stakes.

So heres my best tip:

* Buy Jandas new book. Break down every single chapter with pen and paper. Can do a chapter every 2nd day.

* Think and play.

Voila, NL25 galore.

It really is that easy. Matthew Janda is god

Best of luck man, you can do it

Thanks! I'm gonna look into the reading material you suggested. What's the name of it?

Edit: never mind, just saw them in the banner.

Played almost 1k hands today, 6 tables, some of them with another 2p2'er. Maybe he can attest to how well/poorly I played. I felt I played semi-decent and booked a modest 75BB win. A win is a win though and some hands from the session below.

Poker is fun. 300k hands since my start last July, -1.63 BB/100 most of those at 2NL paying the rake at a rate of 8BB/100. I've improved immensely though so not all is lost. .

Really though, I always said this game humbles you because the deck does not care who you are.

Last 4800 hands, +$12 @2NL.

Im playing the same stakes at other site and Im far from expert but some of the preflop plays seem marginal. For instance trying to isolate fish at MP when you got K8s and there are 3 left to act and guys sitting at blinds seem to be quite loose players.

Yes, I agree it's marginal, but what better scenario can you have than HU, in position against a loose passive? FWIW, I probably fold the K7s there. .

Okay so 2 or 3 days will go by and not a hand will be played because I'm working overtime. I really want to put in work before my next opportunity to put in a session so I finally invested in that space between my two ears and downloaded The Mental Game of Poker onto my phone and read the first two chapters.

Immediately I realized I am missing a pre game warm-up. Years ago when I played live, I had a 'Poker Creed' I would recite aloud to myself while driving to a home game or casino. I still have the text printed out and tacked on my cell(cube) wall at work. It needs some tweaking so it is more tailored for the online grind, but, it is definitely something I need to implement again!

I took a few other mental notes from what I read but I am at work and need to get back to it. Updates to follow after my next session!

Real quick, I looked at my 2016 result which was at -3.86 over 116k hands. 2017 results show a WR of -.23BB/100 in 185k hands so we are moving in the right direction.

Moving forward, I need to.

1. Create a mental warm-up.
2. STOP and think RATIONALLY in each hand.
3. Look for spots to make exploitative folds to 1 more river bets every 500-1000 hands.
4. Volume. Looking for at least 40k hands this month.

Let's go!

I can't control what cards I get, how the cards fall or how other players will play with certain parts of their ranges. I can only control how I play my ranges. The whales gotta win some of the time, don't get angry when they do.

I went whale watching yesterday. Saw a few big ones, experienced some variance and tilt that carried over to this morning, hence my reasoning for posting the above statement in which I am talking to myself mostly. My decision making was fairly atrocious yesterday, I realize that I was steaming, but it took a few hands this morning before I snapped out of it.

A steamed image can be fun though. You get regs flatting 4bs OOP trying to set mine with 44. It sucks when they actually do though on a Q high board when hero holds KK. It's okay, please invest > 25% of your stack pre with small PP.

I will be putting in some volume this evening after work and looking forward to it. I am also going to write "What can you control?" on a sticky and put it on my laptop in front of me as an aid to keep my mind and emotions in check in real time.
